Without a slide-topper, the roof of your slide-out room is continually exposed and can accumulate leaves and bugs and different types of debris. That debris can build up along the rubber strip at the top of your box, preventing a firm seal when your slide-out is retracted. Rain water can then get in and pool on the top of your slide-out. If you don't clear the water off each time it rains, mold can begin to form. And when your slide-out is pulled in, that mold gets inside your RV.
The Solera RV slide-out awning alleviates those problems by serving as a protective covering over the top of your RV's slide-out. Not only does it prevent debris from collecting on the roof of your slide-out, but it keeps water from pooling and potentially causing damage down the road. Because it mounts directly to the front of the slide box, the slide-out awning is able to automatically extend and retract every time the slide-out room is extended or retracted.
The durable awning fabric holds up to the rigors of the outdoors. It's made of premium 13.5-oz vinyl, which is an upgrade over the 10-oz fabric used in many awnings. This fabric also features heat-welded seams to prevent leaks. And it is made to withstand cold temperatures down to -25 degrees Fahrenheit, so it won't crack or degrade during the winter.
Use the self-tapping screws to secure the included access plate to the side of your slide-out, positioning the plate at the bottom of the T-molding. The two access brackets slide easily onto the access plate's track. The rods that are located at each end of the roller tube, which comes with the awning fabric already mounted, slide through the hole in the two access brackets.
The included awning rail is used to anchor the other side of the fabric to your RV. This rail can be mounted up to 5" above the trim on top of your slide box.

Unfortunately we had a bad experience with these awnings. I installed them exactly as the Lipert videos instructed.I even went inside to view the videos several times as not to make any mistakes. The awnings worked fine for a while, I had purchased 3 of them. We went on a 5 week trip to the west and about half way through, 2 of the were stating to have a hard time opening. We had to push on the slide out from inside to get them to go out correctly as the strain from the awnings were pulling the slide out. Upon our return, I contacted etrailer and they agreed to exchange if we shipped them back to them. I was able to fabricate a long box from 4 Uhaul lamp boxes and was ready to ship. To our surprise the cost of shipping would be $1652.72. I contacted etrailer about this and they said they could not help. I'm not sure how etrailer is able to ship it to me and still make a profit but this sucks. I recommend not buying this sort of item from etrailer. Go the your RV dealer, it may save you a lot of grief.
Jenny N - 11/29/2021After a year the product I purchased and installed has been wonderful. As you can see from the picture(s) it is still in great shape and protects our camper slide. Topper was easy to install for a DYI and the assistance of video on installation prep and advice from etrailer was the ticket to successfully completing the job with no trouble. Topper material is quality material and hardware was very good. Love the results and no issues with anything falling on the top of my slide increasing the risk of damage to slide and or seals.
Arthur - 07/14/2019Ordered a 7’ and 12’7” awning. The 12’ awning showed up 3 weeks after the first. No because if etrailer but because of shipping company. When I finally received the second awning it was damaged. I called etrailer and they promptly replaced the awning and shipped out a new one within a couple minutes. etrailer has the best customer service. They etrailer representative (Mark) was super professional and answered all my questions. I have yet to install my awnings but after inspection they look of great quality. Can’t wait to install. Thanks again etrailer for your customer service. Now I wish shipping company has the same attributes as your company.
Installed this 13 ft. slide cover in just a couple of hours, a very easy install. I watched the video, and read other reviews and it was a big help. One thing I did different than others is I installed the cord channel that fastens to the coach wall so that the screw heads are under the awning for a little more protection. I have about 4 inches of slope. Take the time to get the measurements recommended by etrailer and install will be easy and correct. I received the product within 3 days, and as usual the quality is very good. I will continue to purchase products from etrailer the quality and shipping speed is always the best.
etrailer was very responsive. Shipping via UPS was a little slow by about a week and a half from the due date. Arrived OK with a little end damage to the shipping tubes, but the slide out awnings were in perfect condition. However, you have to factor in that shipping in Nov. and Dec. is always problematic.
Shipping was quick. Everything went on easy and it looks great. No more sweeping the Slid Out top every time we bring it in. Thanks
Now after one year of use the slide-out covers “awnings” work still great! No signs of use, look like new. Super happy with the purchase and as usual with the etrailer - that is always my first place to go for my towing and camping gear.
Product was as advertised and protects the slide out. Installation was not too difficult with the help of a friend.
David - 01/21/2022The toppers have done well and really kept our slides clean. I always smile when watching others on their ladders before packing up sweeping those slides. Raise a glass and remember when it was me. The install was smooth and I would highly suggest the Lippert video to make sure you have a sense of the process steps because they are key. Making the correct final adjustments to avoid rubbing on you slide are crucial. The only negative I might point out is the main slide given the length of run has a bit of a sag in the middle. This has not hurt the performance as far as I can tell, but you can notice it aesthetically. Definitely should have a helper as it makes the shaky hands of drilling into the side of your trailer much more secure. I would absolutely suggest these to anyone!
Easy to install. arrived damage free. Pay close attention to directions. Watching the install video before starting really helped make the process flow easy. I'd buy another and install it myself.
I like the awning. It helps to keep the water and debris off of the slide out roof. I think I still have the torque too high as it pulls the top of the slide out in, not allowing for a good seal.
This slid out awning was easy to install and does a great job. We are campground hosts and use our RV on a very regular basis. After one year of use it is holding up very well. Thanks etrailer!
Stephen - 11/12/2018Excellent item. I raised the trailer wall mount ba about three inches higher than factory so it would shed rain better. The original topper was mounter such that the topper was level! It gathered rain and eventually failed. Works great! Reasonable price and took like a hour and a half to install with two people and two ladders. Prob less but I wasn't using the existing camper wall mount rail.
Everything about the topper was at least as good as I had hoped for, except for one minor issue. The small caps that fit into the ends of the roller arms came lose on the first trip. The self-tihreading set screws didn't stay tight enough to hold the caps in. I called to order a new set, but was rather disappointed that I would be charged for them after spending hundreds of dollars for the topper. I decided that I could cement them in place with epoxy adhesive. Still, it is a very well made product that I will definitely look for if I ever need another topper. You'll be glad you chose Solera if you're looking for a high quality topper at a decent price. It's also easy to install. Best wishes, Larry L.
Larry L - 07/31/2018Just installed awning. Looks and works great, time will tell. I feel strips of adhesive caulking for mounting plates could have been included in the hardware kit, but overall lm very happy with the product.
Well made product that has provided the protection I was looking for. Easy to install after watching the video online. All of the parts and pieces went together as described. I only wish I had ordered the cover at least two inches wider than I did. My slide is covered but with an extra inch on both side I would not have to worry about blowing rain as much. I did follow the measuring instructions provided but still feel I came up about two inches short of what I really needed.

It’s doing its job of keeping the slide out clean of dirt et. but when it rains it sags and starts filling with water. Can it be adjusted so it’s tighter and the water runs off ? Thank you.

I had ordered two Solara slide covers for our 5th wheel. They arrived recently and were undamaged. So far I have installed one and I am happy with the product. I am in the process of installing the other cover. I have bought numerous items from ETrailer and are very happy with there service. I don't think any other company can compare with ETrailer for service and product support. I will buy again from them.
The biggest one we put on holds water and sags a bit. have to close the slide to get it off. The others the rain water slide right off without help.
