Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed within the spare tire compartment of your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

I'm not hauling things daily but for the times that I do use it, this trailer hitch has been great for what I've needed. After a year of having it, it has been really dependable. I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a light-duty trailer hitch.

2002 JeepGrand Cherokee

I ordered and received the trailer wiring kit for my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. With the kit came instructions, with color pictures, for installation. I followed the install instructions as written. They were clear and simple. Everything on my Jeep was exactly where the instructions said they would be. Installation took about 30 minutes (had a couple of telephonic interruptions). Once completed I tested the circuits. All worked exactly as they were supposed to. This appears to be a well made kit, easy to install, and should last for some time. ettrailer was quick to send, web site easy to order from. Thanks, highly recommended.

I still have the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee that they were installed on and all is doing well. I am a Scout leader and hunter and pull a Scout trailer on trips and have a large flat trailer I pull on hunting and fishing trips. It went on very easy.

Ive had this harness in my Jeep now for just over a year. This thing is working out beautifully. It does exactly what its supposed to do. I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking to add a trailer plug to your factory harness without having to cut and splice wires

I recently ordered a trailer connector wiring kit 04 Jeep grand Cherokee. Shipping was great especially for Christmas time came in quickly. Installed it on the jeep, everything fit as it should I am satisfied and would recommend this product.

Plugs into my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and works. Chose this model because of the inline fuse. My previous one didn't have an inline fuse, which resulted in melted wires when the ground on the trailer disconnected. This one works and provides an extra layer of protection.

by:

Lights works great. I would have liked about 2 ft more wire to go to the front side lights. I had to add an extension to make it long enough to connect to the vehicle.

by:
2004 JeepGrand Cherokee

worked great! I routed the connector through the grommet behind the tailight down to the hitch area and the length was perfect. I paired it with item 37185 which fit directly into the factory 7 prong plug bracket on the back of the car.

This was a great buying experience, not only was it the correct part but installation was as quick & easy as the shipping. Etrailer offers this somewhat expensive part at a huge discount compared to the dealership. I'm definitely going to consider Etrailer for my new boat trailer lights.

  • Does T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness Have Any Draw on 2003 Grand Cherokee When Vehicle is Turned Off
The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C55369 should only be drawing power when you have a trailer connected to your 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee and you're actively using the light functions. If there is any kind of residual draw on your battery it would be minimal at best - definitely not enough to make any difference to your battery unless something is broken in your wiring setup.

  • Recommended Hitch Size for a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Both 2 inch and 1-1/4 inch hitches are available for the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but I would recommend going with a hitch with the 2 inch opening. This would give you the most common hitch size, so you would have more choices available when it comes to hitch accessories. The CURT 2 Inch Hitch # 13051 would be a good choice for your vehicle. You can view the installation instructions as well as a video of the hitch being installed on a 1999 Grand Cherokee at the provided links. To wire...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Lights Working Erratically on a Trailer Towed by a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
There are several things you can check. First, check the functions on the vehicle side with no trailer connected. Make sure the wires are receiving the proper signals at the connector on the Jeep. You will need a circuit tester like # PTW2993. If you find a problem at this point, something may not be wired correctly, and you will need to start from scratch. Wire color and functions are usually: white = ground, green = right turn and brake, yellow = left turn and brake, brown = running lights....

You will need wiring on your 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee to power the lights on the U-Haul, though I'm not certain from your question if you were saying you had the tow package or not. If you do have the tow package that means you have a 7-way connector on your Jeep; if the U-Haul had a 4-way connector you could add a 4-way to your Jeep with the T-One Wiring Harness # 118381 which simply connects to your Jeep's existing 7-way by plugging in.
