Does the Jeep already have a hitch? If not, I recommend the Curt, part # 13051, that fits the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I prefer the Curt hitches because they seem to have a thicker powder coat finish than the others. If you need wiring, I'd go with the Curt T-Connector # C55369, it is the correct one for you.
Once you have the hitch you need to measure to determine which ball mount you need. I've linked an article to help you make the measurements and I've also linked our selection of ball mounts for 2 inch receivers.
If you're worried about the weight capacity, as long as you're under the 5,000 pound maximum then there isn't a problem. If you mean that the trailer's dry weight is 4,600 pounds and you'll be loading it over the 5,000 pounds then your only option is to tow the trailer unloaded (or not loaded enough to go over the 5k) or use a different vehicle to tow it.
