You can remove the ball and flip it over to use it in the rise position, but you would need a torque wrench and a 1" lock nut in order to do this. Since it comes pre-torqued this one is generally only used in the drop position. If you want something not pre-torqued, use the # C45270 ball mount and the # 40038 ball.
