Works well towing my 28 ft enclosed car trailer 10k lbs

by:

The product was great. The shipping was two days later than estimated.

by:

Fits perfectly! Thanks for the amazing customer service

by:

I needed a shank for my 30 year old Reese weight transfer hitch for my new truck... this fits great in my 2.5 inch hitch and the 2 inch Reese head fits on perfectly. Thanks,

by:

Worked good.

by:

Purchased this to replace the 2” I was using for my F250 after purchasing my F350. It was a pain to use the reducing sleeve and get the heavy hitch for my camper to line up with it to get the pin in. This was a perfect replacement. I was concerned it would work because the description and photos didn’t do a good job of showing it it 2.5” for the truck receiver and 2” to fit the hitch were it bolts in. A little pricey but worth every penny to eliminate fitting with the reducing sleeve!!

by:

This is a well made product and not so heavy as the welded DrawTite shank I was using previously. Most importantly, the hole pattern eliminates the dead zone other shanks have, where the attached hitch head is either too low or way too high.

I like that the hitch is shorter in length, as it reduces the leverage of the trailer tongue weight. Others may find this to be a drawback because the tailgate of a pickup truck might not open fully with a trailer attached due to shorter distance to the tongue jack.

This is one of the few shanks I could find that fit a Class V receiver and I will be purchasing more of these for our other tow vehicles. They are that nice!

by:

Great product, lighter weight than previous hitches I have owned, gave just the right amount of adjustability.

by:

I would have preferred to buy the kit with both shank and tongue, but it's a company purchase, so I'll accept the price gouging. I wish there were locking pins as well. Called the manufacturer and they said that they're coming soon. Well-constructed hitch, very impressed.

by:

Bought a new truck which had a 2 1/2" receiver and did not like using a sleeve on the receiver pulling my travel trailer, this one worked great on it.

by:

This product is exactly what I expected it to be and came very quickly. I will now be able to get rid of the spacer sleeve that I have been using for my previous hitch. This was my first order with etrailer but certainly will not be my last. Their price guarantee and customer service cannot be matched.

by:

This is exactly what I was hoping for. Elimination of the wobbly 2 - 2.5 inch sleeve. This was a simple unbolt, rebolt using my current travel trailer hitch. Very sturdy hitch replacement.

by:

Bought this so I could eliminate the hitch sleeve when towing my toy hauler. Works great and fits well

by:

Product was exactly as stated and arrived quickly. etrailer answered all my questions and helped me find the rightt part. etrailer also has a great price match guarantee that I was able to use.

by:

Working with etrailer’s customer service is like talking with an old friend.

by:

Payton helped me cancel a shank I ordered before it shipped and get the correct part. She was patient as I never ordered one before and had to measure the old part.

by:

Worked great! Heavy duty hitch.

by:

Works great with the Curt 17501.

by:

As described. Quick shipping!

by:

Exactly as described and shipped the same day.

  • What Air Bags and Weight Distribution System For 2023 F-250 Pulling Trailer with 1,000lbs TW?
Hello Dan, Definitely on the right road to a smoother ride (pun intended). I would say that you knowing you are on the heavier end of the tongue weight you are safe finding one around the 1k mark. You just want to make sure you are closer to the tongue weight than the trailer weight. I am not sure how much you are looking to spend, but I set up my brother-in-law up with the B&W Continuum Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # BW28FR and he has nothing but great things to say about...

  • Is There 2.5 inch Shank That Can be Used with Curt 20 TruTrack WD System
Hey Leland, yes we do have 2.5 inch hitch shanks available with the Curt TruTrack 2P part # C75RJ like with the part # C17131 or if you need a lot more drop the part # C17132. Do you know about how much drop you need?

  • Availability of 2-1/2" Shank for Curt TruTrack 2P Weight Distribution System
Hey Robert! You can replace the 2" shank on your Curt TruTrack 2P Weight Distribution System # C69JR with the Curt Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2" Hitches # C17131. This has a 3-1/4" drop, 6-3/4" rise, and will eliminate the need for that reducer sleeve. What kind of trailer are you towing?

  • Does Curt Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2 inch Hitch Fit Fastway Weight Distribution
The Curt weight distribution shank part # C17131 has the same dimensions on the vertical bracket portion as standard weight distribution systems like Fastway or Curt so if you were trying to adapt your current system from a 2 inch hitch to a 2-1/2 inch hitch this would work great for that. Let me know on your other questions as well.

  • Weight Distribution Recommendation for Trailer with 1000 lb Tongue Weight and 2.5" Hitch
Hey Peter, I would go a different since all of the systems that come with the 2.5 inch hitch shanks are going to be rated too high for what you have which will give you a harsher ride quality. So instead I would go with a Equal-i-zer part # EQ90-00-1201 which is correct rating but does not come with a shank so that you can get one separately that is correct for your setup like the Curt # C17131.

  • Can Reese Weight Distribution Hitch Use Curt 2-1/2" Shank
Hey Duelly! Yes, you can use the Curt # C17132 or # C17131 with your Reese system. Most weight distribution hitches use a standard shank that crosses over between brands. If you're looking for a different rise/drop the Equal-i-zer you looked at will also work. You can choose from the following: - Max 7" Rise, 3" Drop: Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank - 2-1/2" Hitch # EQ90-02-4700 - Max 10" Rise, 6" Drop: Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank - 2-1/2" Hitch # EQ90-02-4900 - Max 13"...

  • Can Curt Weight Distribution be Used Behind a Class C RV?
Hey Eric, thanks for reaching out! As long as the hitch on your Class C RV is rated for weight distribution, you can use the Curt Round Bar Weight Distribution System # C17063 with no issues. When it comes to using it with the 2-1/2" receiver on your truck, you can technically use a reducer like the etrailer # e28JR, but best practice is to use a shank like the Curt # C17131 that's designed for a 2-1/2" hitch receiver, so I recommend going that route instead. Where is your favorite spot...

Hey Anthony, congratulations on the new truck! Your ReCurve R6 does use a standard weight distribution shank. This means you will be able to use the Curt Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2" Hitches # C17131 to replace your old shank so you can install it on your truck. What kind of truck did you get?

  • Will Curt TruTrack WD System C17501 Work With 2025 Forest River Hemisphere 310BHI
Hey Ronald, thanks for reaching out, and congrats on the new camper! Sounds like you are on the right track here. Each weight distribution (WD) hitch will have a range of tongue weights it will work with. You do not want to overshoot the capacity too much, you just want to be sure your trailers tongue weight falls within the specified range. For example, the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System # C17501 you were looking at will work on trailers with a tongue weight between 1,000 and...

  • 2-1/2 Inch Shank for Eaz-Lift Weight Distribution Hitch
You can go from a 2 inch shank to a 2-1/2 inch shank with your Eaz-Lift weight distribution system. Weight distribution shanks are essentially universal so you won't have any issues. You just need a shank that has the proper rise or drop you are require. The options for 2-1/2 inch shanks are as follows, with the rise and drops listed the maximum for the shanks: - Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 7" Rise, 3" Drop # EQ90-02-4700 - Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank - 13" Rise, 9" Drop...

  • Does The Use of a Reducer Affect the Tongue and/or Trailer Weight Capacity?
The Curt Hitch Adapter # C45405 will not reduce the tongue weight of your hitch. Many adapters that extend the length will reduce towing capacity based on tongue weight, but this adapter isn't one of them. It will work fine with the Curt TruTrack weight distribution system, but it may add to the noise of your system. If you want to, you can use the Curt Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2" Hitches # C17131 to better work with your hitch and system. A reducer isn't bad, but it isn't...

  • Choosing Correct Weight Distribution Shank
To determine the amount of drop you'll need your replacement shank to have, take a height measurement from the top inside edge of the receiver tube to the ground, then measure from the bottom of the trailer's coupler to the ground (make sure trailer is level when taking the measurement) then subtract the coupler height from the hitch height. The result is the amount of drop you'll need. We do offer weight distribution shanks for 2-1/2 inch receivers, and the hole spacing for the weight...

  • Will a Curt Weight Distribution Shank Work with an EAZ Lift Weight Distribution System
If the 3/4 inch diameter holes space 1-1/4 inches apart on center on shank # C17131 match what your EAZ Lift weight distribution system requires then it is a great option for a 2-1/2 inch hitch. Most major brands of weight distribution systems use the same hole spacing and diameter to mount the heads with few exceptions. This shank has a maximum rise of 6 inches and maximum drop of 2 inches. If you need more rise or drop to tow the trailer level you can look at the selection of 2-1/2...
