Will Curt TruTrack WD System C17501 Work With 2025 Forest River Hemisphere 310BHI

Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/15/2025

Question:

I am purchasing a camper and questioning the hitch I will need. Looking for some recommendations that will work for me. My truck is a 2020 gmc sierra 3500 DRW. The camper is a 2025 forest river hemisphere 310bhi. It has a tongue weight of 1340lbs and gvwr of 11500lbs. Do I need a hitch with 1300 or 1400lb rating? I’ve read some conflicting things so I’m unsure at the moment. I gather the total weight rating of the hitch is fine to be much higher but the tongue rating is where I’m struggling. My truck also has a 2.5” shank so I was looking for a hitch that size as well. Thanks for any help!

Hey Ronald, thanks for reaching out, and congrats on the new camper! Sounds like you are on the right track here. Each weight distribution (WD) hitch will have a range of tongue weights it will work with. You do not want to overshoot the capacity too much, you just want to be sure your trailers tongue weight falls within the specified range.

For example, the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System # C17501 you were looking at will work on trailers with a tongue weight between 1,000 and 1,500 lbs. Your tongue weight will be right within this range so it would work well for you. The TruTrack is a solid WD hitch and for the price it is hard to beat.

This WD hitch comes with a 2" shank though, so you will need to purchase the 2-1/2" shank part # C17131 separately.

I hope this helps. Feel free to leave a reply below with any other questions or comments and I will get back to you.

Hey Ronald, how did the Curt TruTrack weight distribution hitch end up working with your camper and Sierra? Did the setup feel balanced once you added the 2-1/2" shank? Your feedback could really help others dialing in a similar towing setup.
