Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails. Now, these base rails will install in your truck bed. And they provide the necessary attachment points for your fifth wheel hitch installation. Now, when these rails are used with the CURT's Custom Mounting Brackets, which we sell separate on a website, these rails will cut in half the time it takes to install your fifth wheel trailer hitch.
We mentioned the finish on this. I'm gonna zoom in and sort of show it. It's a carbide black finish, sort of like a matte black finish, so it matches the finish if you use it on the CURT Q5 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch. Now, these rails are universal, so they will work with the following fifth wheel hitches. They work with the CURT brand, the Draw-Tite, the Hidden Hitch, the Reese, and even the Husky.
This part here will include the two base rails. Now, we mentioned the mounting brackets, the custom mounting brackets, the hardware, and an installation kit is all sold separately. The length on these rails, if we put a tape measure on them from one end to the other, right at 43 inches long. But that should do it for the review on the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails.
The 1st set i ordered for an f350 showed up as as Chevrolet brackets i call and was told i could get the correct parts delivered to me on a Wednesday, i was supposed to leave for a camping vacation on Thursday so i thought ok, i will work till i get the brackets installed. The parts didn't show up until Thursday evening so i had to delay my vacation. The new parts were also incorrect so i ended up borrowing a truck to pull my camper. I modified the parts to make them work but i am very disappointed in my experience and will not be purchasing anything from this company again.
Retailer lied about shipping, said it was in stock it wasn't told me it was shipped and would be there the day it left thier shipping center a after 4pm, even called them and they said it would be a my house between 3:45 and 5:45 as off 6:10 pm still not a thing. So if you need something from them, just figure a week after they tell you it will be there.
Product quality was excellent. System took much longer to install than stated in the manual. Took about 3 hours to install. Directions gave 80 minutes. All the Dimensions were spot on in the instructions.
The product work well. Instructions for installation could be a bit better.
Fast shipping, good price
These were exactly what I needed to install the hitch in my new truck. Paula was a lot of help. Shipping was very fast.
The galvanic isolators could be a tad thicker. When you tighten the nuts under the bed, they twist.
Everything was perfect. I will make sure if I have any other hitch trailer purchases. I am definitely ordering through you guys again thank you.

Work as designed
I ordered C16418-204 which is rails hardware and brackets to truck frame. Within 3 business days I received the brackets but no hardware or rails and my tracking info showed delivered. So I started a case that I was missing the rails and hardware. I then ended up receiving the rails about 5 business days later but still no hardware so I emailed etrailer again and was in contact with Daylon from e trailer where I was told that kit doesn't come with hardware and that I would have to purchase it separately even though in the item description and pictures hardware is included I had to send multiple emails with screen shots of my order and confirmation email stating what I ordered and what I received Daylon final found the confusion and sent me the hardware although this whole process took about 3 weeks and ended up missing a camping trip that was already planned. Overall the rails and brackets are good quality just had poor customer service with etrailer and don't know if I will do business with them again
Fit and finish is very good. The rails have worked as described with out Anderson Ultimate hitch pulling around our 14,000 lb. 5th wheel.
Product came quickly and fit properly.
I ordered the rails and brackets kit with included hardware for a Curt slider hitch. The order arrived 3 days later in perfect shape and the quality of the parts is 1st rate...heavy. Price was better than other stores. I'm happy.
The product is just as described!! I would give it a 5 star review. As for etrailer if I could give a 0 I would. I bought a complete 5th wheel install kit that was suppose to have the rails. Rails were never sent with the rest of the install kit. Called and they said it would be another week before I would receive them. I had to pay and extra $[XX] to get the expedited shipping and then on top of that you charged me for the rails that you never sent the first time. Still waiting on my refund for rails. Your customer service is subpar at best! I do not recommend ETRAILER!
The delivery was not good half the hitch showed up with just the bed rails I called customer service they sent another package a week later with a second set of bed rails when I needed the frame plates then finally the following week the frame plates came with no instructions and I had to go out of my way to return the duplicate set of bed rails I have another hitch on the way I really hope this is a better experience not really impressed with this transaction
The parts were an exact fit, easy to install and work great. Happy with my purchase.
My order is apparently being shipped in two separate parcels. I received the custom fifth wheel installation kit but the rails were not included and apparently will not arrive until one week later. I can’t install one without the other so it would have been better to send the kit complete instead separating the parcels by a week. On a positive note I appreciated the emails advising the ship date with the tracking number.

The hitch and mounting brackets work great except the slide is really hard to move with the 5er hooked up. Its very hard to pull the handle for the slide.
