Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Circuit-Protected Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

This converter safeguards itself and your vehicle against possible electrical shorts and overloads with integrated short circuit protection. Just install the connector as indicated and rest assured that the wiring system of your vehicle will remain feedback-free.

Made the installation on my Jeep Commander quick and simple. Done in less than 30 minutes with no problems. Took longer to tie up wires than the install.

Good Trailer wireing, Fast shipping, easy to install, would buy from this seller again. Thank you for service.

my product was like three days early hooked it up tested it out worked perfectly easy install wentright back together the way it was originaly

by:
2007 Jeep Commander

Easy as pie, installed and zip-tied in 30 minutes. Unit should come with more zip-ties, I used about 12 ( maybe a few overkill ).

One thing I did was remove one of the 13mm bolts from the spare tire carrier to route the driver to passenger cable behind the metal carrier ( which follows the already present wire harness ). This made the install a little cleaner.

Plug-N-Play installationEasy installation and the instructions were easy to follow - took about 15 minutes to install. This kit is different such that you DO NOT have to have the Daystar reprogrammed to accept the harness for the 2006 Jeep commander

product working well. easy to install. took me 10 minutes. found it best to groung to black wire behind the light on the vehicle harness rather than with the body ground with the screw

Very nice plug and play setup here. Many folks with the Jeep SUV's using the dealer wiring package have to have the Jeep "flashed" by the dealer to get the lights to work post install.

This was super easy to plug in, lights work as they should, no visit to the dealer to get a "flash".

I think I spent more time zip tying the excess out of the way than the actual install.

This is a great product. Definitely recommend it.

The kit was complete with clear instructions. The instructions also included tips to help avoid potential pitfalls during installation. The vehicle I installed lights on was a Jeep Commander and thus was a little more complicated than most. Due to a good product and clear instructions, I was done in less than 20 minutes from start to finish.

This hitch and wiring harness I purchased from etrailer was a breeze to install. It took me 30 minutes to do it by myself and only took that long because I had to slide in some shims on the hitch. Great product, great service. Thanks!!

Jeep Commander

If you think you can hand wire a Jeep Commander and make it work...stop thinking and buy this wire harness. I tried to splice and hand wire the Jeep with no success. The brakes run separately from the turn signals on a Jeep Commander, which is why you cannot splice in trailer wiring. Simply plug in the wiring harness and presto, it works. Thanks eTrailer for the great value on this product.

2007 Jeep Commander

The wiring kit was very good quality and fairly easy to install. The only issue I had was the wires feeding over to the passenger-side light was too short. Actually, if you stretched the wiring straight across back of bumper it did reach. However, if you wanted to do a better job and route with factory taillight wiring it would not reach. I finally decided to splice in a section of wire and do the job right.

2007 Ford Flex

I purchased the complete kit for my 2007 Commander. The Hitch was a breeze to install.I picked up 12' of 3/8' heat resistant flex tubing to protect and organize the wiring and with some extra cable ties had the whole job done in under to two hours.Great product. The order was shipped and arrived in under three days. The Communication was first class.I would recommend e trailer if you want to save on installation and do it yourself. You get the peace of mind that the job was done well.

2006 Jeep Commander

I chose to use the OEM hitch and bezel for my Commander. I simply prefer the look. However, the OEM wiring is an absolute pain to install. It runs the entire length of the vehicle, and requires a computer flash from the dealer to make it work. I had the T-One harness installed in about a half hour, never used my wire stripper, and it works great. The kit looks to be of great quality, and the instructions were easy to follow. I would suggest a package of wire ties to secure everything. I finished off the installation with 30717 end connector. It mounted prefectly to the factory hitch, and gives an OEM look.

  • Trailer Turn Signals Not Working with # C55050 Wiring Harness Installed on a 2008 Jeep Commander
It sounds like you have one of two problems. First, I would check the wiring harness at the back of the vehicle. Disconnect the trailer and make sure the ground wire is connected to a clean, rust, paint and corrosion free ground location. Then using a circuit tester, item # PTW2993 if needed, test the wires going into the converter. The red wire should have the brake signal on it, the green wire should have the right turn signal on it, the yellow wire should have the left turn signal on...

  • Recommended Wiring Harness For 2010 Jeep Commander Without Factory Tow Package
For your 2010 Jeep Commander, since you don't have a factory tow package you will need a wiring system that does connect behind your vehicle tail lights. I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118408. Using a wiring harness designed for use with the factory tow package like # 118381 will not work by adding fuses. If your Commander is like the Grand Cherokee in that all the wiring connects, then you can take it to the dealer and have...

  • Parts Needed To Add 4-Flat And 7-Way To 2008 Jeep Commander
Hey Tim, sounds like you are on the right track here. The Tekonsha # 118408 is exactly what you need to add a 4-flat to your 2008 Jeep Commander without the tow package. As far as adding the 7-way, there are two options I want to cover. If you just want to mount a 7-way without running any additional wires, you can use an adapter like part # 337TC1474P. This will plug into the current 4-flat and give you a 4-flat and 7-way combo. Keep in mind this will only be for brake lights, taillights...

  • Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector and Brake Controller to a 2008 Jeep Commander
We can get you set up with a 7-Way trailer connector and a brake controller for your 2008 Jeep Commander, no problem. First, you will need to install # 118408 which will provide the light functions to the 7-Way. Once that is installed you can then install # ETBC7. This will add the 7-Way, retain a 4-Way connector as well, and include the necessary components to hardwire in a brake controller. For a controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable....

  • Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2007 Jeep Commander
If your 2007 Jeep Commander came with the factory tow package then it should have a factory 7-Way trailer connector at the back of the vehicle. You would follow this connector back to where it plugs in and that is where you would install # 118381. If there is no trailer connector on your Commander then # 118381 will not work. You would need to use # 118408 instead. I have linked the instructions and a video showing installation for you. Neither harness plugs into the back up sensor connector. I...

The 4-Way wiring harness for your 2007 Commander is the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, item # 118408, and will be installed inline with the vehicles taillight connectors.
