Question:
WIll the plug and play TK93VR work on a 2008 Jeep Commander?

Expert Reply:
The 2008 Jeep Commander doesn't have the plug under the dash for a plug and play brake controller installation, so you'll need to hard wire the brake controller.
There are two possible installation scenarios:
If the Commander has the OEM 7-Way trailer connector at the rear of the vehicle, Jeep will have ran the brake controller output wire from the 7-way to the underside of the dash. Look for a coiled up light green wire. The controller itself would wire to the vehicle using our # 5506 installation kit. I've linked you to an FAQ article that will run through the install process.
If you have no trailer connector, you'll need to first install a functional 4-pole using part # 118408. Once the 4-pole's in place, you'd use the # ETBC7 brake controller install kit. The install kit includes the adapter to convert the 4-pole to a 7-way, as well as all the wire, hardware and circuit breakers you'll need to successfully complete the installation. I'd recommend the Tekonsha Prodgy P2, part # 90885 because it's easy to use and highly reliable.
I'll link you to the installation details for the ETBC7 kit, as well as to an install videos for the 4-pole. I'll also link you to a video showing the ETBC7 being installed on a 2008 Jeep Liberty. The procedure on your Commander would be identical.
I'll also link to an install video showing a controller being installed on a Commander with the 7-way, as described in the first scenario above.
