Hassle-Free Installation
Each JetStream crossbar has a bottom channel that allows you to mount it to any of the Yakima StreamLine towers - BaseLine, RidgeLine, SkyLine, or TimberLine. The rubber strip in the channel can be cut down to the exact size needed for installation and then re-installed in the channel. This helps keep dirt out of the bar and reduces wind noise.
Etched measurements along the bottom channel help you center the bar on your roof. Simply use the ruler on each end of the bar to ensure the towers are spaced properly in the channel.
Once you have the correct measurements, install the brackets in the bottom channel, set the bar on top of your towers, and tighten it in place with the torque tool (included with your towers).

Versatile BarBed
The BaseLine's BarBed is specifically designed to work with Yakima's entire line of crossbars.

Same Key System Locks

Excellent solution for my 2023 Chevy Silverado. In the past, I have had rails installed on the roof of my pickup trucks, but I find the BaseLine towers to be a better solution, since they don't permanently change the truck. Plus, they are much more solid than SkyLine system on the rails.1750050

I chose Yakima because I had one in the past and they were always reliable. Thule was my next choice but didn’t like the look of 53’ crossbars on my car. I really appreciated the easy to follow instruction that made installation a breeze. The kit came complete with everything I needed to install right out of the box. I purchased the 2 Hightower bike racks to go with the roof rack system and plan to safely secure both bikes for our trips. It was a bit heavier than I anticipated (combined with the bike carriers) which will hurt my MPG but having easy access to disassemble the bike carriers when not in use made it a no brained. Well you asked for it so; I ordered this as part of my roof rack for a 2021 Nissan rogue. The complete roof rack set was unavailable le as one bracket was on back order and said would ship in under a month so I ordered everything else in the meantime. Little did I know it would take a over a year to get one stupid bracket and yes, I'm still waiting. The Yakima JetStream Crossbar System part # Y00425 and part # Y33TR is what I recommend for a 2018 GMC Acadia Denali.
This system has aero shape crossbars so they will create the least amount of noise and work with the widest variety of rooftop mounted accessories. It also has a 165 lbs weight capacity which will be enough for three kayaks.

You are right to be concerned about the weight limit on your 2017 Ford Edge if you will be carrying a boat that heavy. The lightest roof rack I found weighs 13lbs. It would be the 2017 Ford Edge Roof Rack by Rhino Rack. I am guessing that while your boat is less than 150lbs it comes very close to that weight. This rack is rated to carry 165lbs and your boat and the aftermarket roof rack is almost at the weight limit of your rack and that is without the weight of the your boat carrier. I checked with Yakima and there's no difference at all. Yakima just changed the part number. This is a common occurrence that they do often. Both 8000146 and 8000162 are the BaseLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars item # Y28TR. 8000162 is just Yakima's new inventory number. If you have the older 8000146 from a different roof rack it will work in place of the 8000162.

There is a solution for you that will allow you to still use Yakima round bars, if you have them.
