RV Water Inlets with Plastic Housings
Lightweight plastic keeps replacements straightforward and user-friendly. Choose gravity fill or city hookups and confirm whether you need a built-in check valve. Measure your cutout and connection style—barb or threaded—since some installs may need minor trimming, and take care not to overtighten plastic threads during hookup.
Typically no; these locks aren't made to match compartment door keys. You may be able to swap the lock cylinder if the designs match, so compare the cylinder style first. Also confirm the lockable hatch cutout before ordering—pick a hatch that fits your opening so you don't have to cut into framing.
Some do and some don't, so verify if the city hookup includes a check valve. If a dual unit's city-side check fails, you can usually replace just that city inlet instead of the whole assembly. Confirm thread type and size, commonly 1/2" FPT or MPT, so the new inlet or check valve threads match your plumbing.
Measure your rough cutout and compare to the inlet's cutout and flange size so it fully covers the opening. Check the depth from the mounting flange to the back of the inlet to be sure it clears interior structures. Verify your fill and overflow hose sizes and locations match. If upgrading sizes, minor trimming of the sidewall may be needed. Note that some inside boxes are smaller, which can make the cap area a bit cramped.
Support the plastic 1/2" MPT section while tightening adapters so it doesn't rotate. Confirm the city water fitting style matches your hose's rubber ring seal; a mismatched, unbeveled face won't seal right. Use a plastic-compatible sealant and avoid overtightening to protect threads. Have a spare washer on hand in case one isn't included.
