Make the most of tight galley space with stove and cooktop accessories that turn the top into usable counter area and help protect glass from drops or splatter. Choose cutting-board covers with rubber feet or clamp-style supports for a secure fit, and check your grate layout and hinge clearance. If you'll set hot appliances on it, pick a heat-tolerant cover and remove or fold it when using the burners or oven.

A polyethylene cutting-board cover can withstand heat but isn't the best choice with substantial heat transfer. A steel cover is more suitable for hot appliances. If the oven is on or you need all burners, remove the cover since metal can gradually heat up. Some covers fold to open part of the stove—confirm your cover's design before cooking.

A board can fit over a glass lid to create workspace, but make sure soft riser pads clear the hinges and don't cook or travel with the board on the glass. Some covers aren't tested for direct use on glass, so verify before use. For newer or uncommon sizes where no cover exists yet, a cut-to-size butcher block set over the grates is a practical workaround.

They add usable counter space and help protect a glass top from items being dropped on or placed on it. Open-style covers can also help reduce grease splatter on nearby walls and blinds. Measure your stove and check hinge clearance if you have a glass lid. If placing a board on glass, look for soft riser pads and note that some options are not tested to sit directly on the glass.
