Measure your pipe's outside diameter—2-1/4 and 2-1/2 are common—and choose clamp-on or weld-on to suit your install. If your pipe is about 2.1 inches, a sleeve or slight expansion by an exhaust shop can make it work, and high-heat black spray paint can deliver a black look.
High heat black spray paint can work. Tailpipes are far enough away that the heat not as bad and a high heat paint will do really well. Don't use the same paint on headers since the metal gets too hot.
Measure the outer diameter of your stock exhaust pipe. The most common sizes are 2-1/4 inch and 2-1/2 inch, but measuring ensures you get the right size. If your measurement matches 2-1/4 inch OD, a 2-1/4 inch tailpipe fit is the right direction.
Use a 2-1/4 inch tip as the closest fit. An exhaust shop can add a sleeve so it fits tightly or flex the exhaust pipe out to 2-1/4 inches. You can go clamp-on or weld-on depending on your preference.
A tip alone typically won't increase volume. Adding a tailpipe to a cut out would not make it louder; the only way to increase the volume at that point would be to install headers if available. Expect a tip to change appearance more than sound.
