The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.
Surface-mount lights install flat against the surface of the trailer, so a hole does not need to be cut into the trailer for the light. This type of light is installed using a flange or bracket that has mounting holes. And mounting hardware is used to secure the light to the trailer.

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number UCL19CB. This is a Sealed Waterproof LED Utility Light from Optronics. It's going to be a surface-mount design. It's got the two mounting locations here on the back side of the housing. To gain access to those mounting slots all you have to do is remove that housing trim, which is a nice chrome finish. The lens is going to be a polycarbonate construction, as well as the lens unit. It's going to contain four LED's which is going to be our four diodes. It is SAE and Department of Transportation compliant.
Here on the back side you can see that it exposes two wires. The white wire is going to be your ground wire, the black wire is going to be your power wire. This light is going to draw .051 amps at 12 volts. It is a sealed, waterproof light. If we take a measurement of the distance between the mounting slots, center on center, it's going to measure 4-5/8". The overall length of the light is going to give us a measurement of 5-3/4".
The overall width is going to give us a measurement of 1-9/16". The overall height is going to measure about 3/4". I want to go ahead and hook this up to our external source that way you can see what it looks like with power running to it. We'll also be able to turn off our overhead lights, that way you can see it in a low-light setting. You can see here that it has the four diodes, four LED's, it's a nice white light with a clear lens that allows a lot of light to come through for a nice signal output. That's going to do it for today's review of part number UCL19CB. This is the Optronics Sealed Waterproof LED Utility Light.

I did some research before going with these as backup lights. They are not SUPER bright, but I didn’t want super bright. The two of them on the back of my trailer offer just enough light to help me see when coming down the dark ramp, but they are not bright enough to blind anyone else who may be on the ramp loading/unloading. Really happy with how they turned out. On my trailer light overhaul I used these in white, red and amber. All seem to be great choices for what I wanted them to do. For mounting hardware, an 8-32 machine screw fits just right, but in these white ones I used a self tapping stainless screw to mount to my crossmember. Something to be aware of, they say it’s a flush mount, but it’s not with the wires sticking out the back of the light. Instead of drilling a relief in my trailer, I opted to use some aluminum cable stops as standoffs. See pictures to further explain. Worked great in the end. These are perfect for what I was wanting. I’m including some pictures of the marker lights showing the standoffs, and also a photo of this white light installed as my reverse light. ETrailer has prompt shipping as usual.
I needed to replace some of the lights on my boat trailer. The old light were incandescent and some of the bulbs had burned out, securing screws were rusted. Product was exactly what I was looking for. Links on each product web page provided very good description and product information.

The lights are still working great. I use them on my boat as deck lights. They get a lot of grim and water but they are holding up well. They may last the lifetime of my boat.
