Full disclosure: we boat in brackish water in Florida, but I always hose the trailer down afterward. Springs work as they should and installation was straightforward. However, I’m not sure how long they’ll last. After only 5 or 6 launches/ retrievals last year, this is what they look like now. The springs and equalizer must’ve been spray-painted at the factory, not powder-coated. I believe made in China. I even soaked the bolts and links in motor oil before installing to stave-off corrosion. I just hope we don’t have a failure on the road any time soon because of this accelerated corrosion!

I bought these to replace the hangers on an old boat trailer, I tried to source these parts locally from several trailer mfg in the area and no one could get them and that's when I found them here at etrailer.com. the kit was a perfect match to what I had and was an easy replacement. The quality was excellent as well.

Everything fit as needed for my Stiger Trailer. I was disappointed that this kit did not come with the 8 nylon bushings for the bolts through the leaf springs. The new bolts were provided but no bushings. I found the 8 nylon bushings I needed at my local [other vendor]. I should have looked for a different kit that provided it all. It would have saved me some time.

After all of the bad weather I was able to finish installing my new suspension system on my 1992 Lance Fifth Wheel. The task was much easier than I had anticipated. The instructional video you provide access to were a big help. Other than having to grind off a nut or two I had no difficulties (See attached photos). The 'list' that had developed on the fifth wheel is now resolved, and towing has already proven to be better.

Well, my suspension replacement and over/under swap went great! You guys were very helpful in ensuring I got the right parts and didn't waste money on shipping and other parts I didn't need. It tows like a dream now. I hardly even notice it behind me and I really don't have to slow down to .05 MPH for every little dip in the road.

Well, its been a year and I am still very impressed with the suspension parts I got from eTrailer. I have ran my car trailer from Michigan down to southern Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Had no issues what so ever. The trailer handled beautifully.

Quality parts at a great price. I already had to change the shackle straps and of course the bolts since they have lock nuts. The reason for the change was due to heavy loads and poor roads. I would like to see the shackle straps made of thicker steel to handle these conditions.

I have a 23 year old Sunline camper I have towed all over the country. While repacking my wheel bearings I noticed excessive wear in the equalizers. I found etrailer on line and ordered the AP233 kit which included 2 equalizers with bushings and new straps, bolts and locknuts. The price including shipping was fantastic. I ordered the parts and they shipped immediately. They arrived on the day promised and I had them installed in less than 2 hours. I would highly recommend etrailer to anyone needing parts for their trailer!!

The Suspension Kit for Tandem-Axle Trailers - 1-3/4" Wide Double Eye Springs - 2-1/4" Links # AP233 is not only for under 3,500 lb axles. It is for 33 inch spacing. • Equalizer Kit Replacement Recommendation for Equalizers that are 7-1/2 inches Long
Since your equalizers are longer than what we have kits for you'll need to piece the kit together you'd need to replace the equalizers, bolts, shackles, and nuts. For the equalizer you'd need to start with the part # TREQE1, then for bolts I'd recommend the wet bolts part # 126B2, for shackles you'd want the part # 115052 which are 2-5/8 inches long.

For the leaf springs, the 26" long # SP-051275 will be the best option for you since springs stretch out over time and they're right around the capacity of what the axles likely is. The next closest size would be the 25-1/8" # SP-212275, but I would be hard pressed to believe that your old ones have stretched out over...

Considering all that has been done so far, I think the first step I would take here is to go with the shorter shackle straps. If you're still getting contact with the trailer frame, I would then take a look at upgrading to a taller equalizer like the Dexter EZ-Flex # 013-144-03 or you could have the front and rear hangers cut off and welded back on 1/2" further from each other in each direction. In addition to the axle spacing, the best way to choose the appropriate equalizer replacement is by measuring how wide your current equalizer is when measured between the two side bolt holes, center on center; as long as you keep everything relatively close in length compared to the old parts, the geometry of your suspension system won't be thrown off. As long as your existing equalizer is 5-3/4" wide and your shackle straps are 2-1/4" long from bolt eye center to bolt eye center then...

  • How Tight Should Trailer Suspension Hanger/Equalizer Bolts Get Torqued
Suspension bolts are not designed to be torqued down tightly as this prevents the suspension from being able to move like it needs to be able to do. So the included solution with the kit part # AP233 is the lock nuts of the kit. The nuts have nylock in them which means that they will not back off regardless of how "loose" they are installed on the bolts. Basically you tighten the nuts down so that the excess side to side movement is removed from them but the shackles can still freely move...

The typical spring deflection for leaf springs on a trailer is up to 1-1/2 inches when at capacity. Or you can use Never Fail Bushings like part # LC279684 that don't require any lubrication.
