The strongest trailer hitch for your 2019 Jeep Cherokee is the etrailer Hitch item # e38AR. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Jeep with included hardware.

The etrailer Hitch item # e38AR is a class III hitch that has a 5,000 lbs towing capacity, and a 750 lbs maximum tongue weight that can be increased to 6,000 lbs when used with a weight distribution system. It weighs 48 lbs and is made in the USA.

I have linked a couple of pictures below along with an installation video so you can see what this hitch looks like when installed. You will want to verify what the towing capacity of your Jeep is as the etrailer hitch may be rated higher than your specific model or trim level.

Since you are planning on towing a trailer with brakes you will also need a 7-Way connector. You will need two separate harnesses since there isn't one available that will add a 7-way. The first is the Curt item # C56406, which will add a 4-way connector. The second one is the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller item # ETBC7. The kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your vehicle with an included bracket. I have linked installation videos below for both parts.

You will also need a brake controller item # 90195 and a ball mount kit item # C45534. If your Jeep has the towing package you can use the Tekonsha Brake Controller Adapter item # 3014-P to have an easy installation.
