Features to know about

Installs Fast Without Wire Cutting: Plug-In T-Connector

Wiring a trailer can be a real pain when you have to cut into factory wires, but this harness takes the hassle out of the job. The Curt T-Connector plugs right into your vehicle’s tail light wiring to give you a 4-pole flat trailer connector. No splicing, no wire chasing—just plug it in and hook up your trailer lights.

Comparison image of Curt T-Connector vehicle wiring harness kits showing different connector configurations and plug styles for trailer wiring.

Built for Reliable Power: 3-Amp Stop/Turn and 5-Amp Taillight Circuits

This harness puts out solid power for your trailer’s lighting—3 amps per stop/turn circuit and 5 amps for the taillight circuit. That’s plenty to handle standard incandescent trailer lights, and it keeps everything running bright and steady every time you hit the brakes or turn signals.

Keeps Trailer Lights Working Right: Converter Handles Vehicle Signals

Modern vehicles don’t always speak the same electrical language as trailers. The built-in converter on this Curt harness takes care of that, translating your car’s separate brake and turn signals into the combined signal your trailer expects. That means your running, brake, and turn lights all work together exactly as they should.

Clean, Secure Install: Ground Wire with Ring Terminal

A solid ground makes all the difference in keeping lights from flickering or cutting out. This harness includes a dedicated white ground wire with a ring terminal so you can bolt it directly to clean metal on the body. Once tightened down, you’ve got a stable connection that holds up on rough roads and wet conditions.

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting, splicing or tapping required. Converter is made using SMT to ensure superior performance.

This wiring harness was not hard to install on my 2012 Kia Soul with standard taillights (not LED). The product worked as it should. I would have rated it excellent if the price was lower. It was competitively priced and delivery was as expected, but I always desire lower price and faster service.

by:

Installation was pretty easy except the green wire is a foot to short. Yes I watched the video and saw routing of the green wire, my routing was exactly the same, as well as the module placement location and the green wire did not reach the right rear tail light. "LENGTHEN THE GREEN WIRE!" you will have to cut and splice a section of wire to make it reach, so this in NOT "PLUG AND PLAY". besides that shortcoming it works just fine.

by:

C56222 Light kit works great and easy to install. Several have commented on the wiring being to short - not if you take your time to follow the instructions. Kit has been installed for a year now and have had no problems of any kind! Great product and service during the sale! Purchased for my 2017 KIA Soul.

by:

The wiring was made to plug into each taillight and run under the car from one light to the other. The idea was perfect as no cutting of the existing car wires. The execution of the plan was poor. The wires were to short to go from one side of the car to the other! They might have reached if I went straight from tail light to tail light across the hatchback opening! But then I would have to avoid the wires every time I opened the hatchback. I had to splice in about a 4 ft piece to make it reach. Otherwise everything else was fine. It plugged in to the existing wiring just perfect. The trailer lights all worked when I was done.

by:

The lighting kit worked well. I did review the instructions in a YouTube video, since the 'instructions' included by Curt are not really specific. The kit works well, I tested with a 'spare' taillight bar I have laying around in case an actual trailer light setup gives me problems. Everything worked as it should. A couple of more inches on the green wire that goes to the passenger connector would be nice. It seemed to be a pretty snug fit, even making sure that the wire ran as straight as possible across the rear framework. I'm glad there was NO need for an extra battery power wire.

by:

Everything is still working as it should...

It
doesn't matter if it's our Kayak trailer or our small utility trailer the lights always work like the should.

Good easy to follow directions and a reasonably simple install.

Definitely would recommend!

This review is for the Curt T connector wiring harness for a 2019 Kia Soul. The wiring harness looks to be well made. I am in the process of installing the harness. The green wire that routes to the passenger side light is NOT long enough to reach. I routed and rerouted but could not find a way to make it long enough. I am in the process of getting everthing I need to extend the wire. The wire itself is 18 gauge.

by:

Very disappointed in this purchase. The green wire is not even close to fitting which based on the video they know. Called and was told you can send it back or extend the wire. Not happy with those choices, I had a trip the next day where I needed the trailer so no choice really. I had to spend money and cut into a brand new wiring harness that was supposedly designated to fit my vehicle! Unfortunately this clouds my opinion of etrailer I purchased from them based upon the reviews of great customer service, not impressed.

by:

Well made wiring harness with good installation instructions that was fairly easy to install.

by:

I recently purchased a draw tite hitch and a curt wiring harness ..I watched several videos about installing them ,,but found if you put the driver side up and then the passenger side ,,you do not need to drop the exhaust or the evaporater box.. to install the hitch took about 10 minutes..the wiring harness on the draw tite you need extra parts but on the curt it comes with everything .,,dropped both taillights and the weather stripping under the back hatch to run the wiring to the right tail light.took about 15 minutes ,, so within a half hour I was ready to go fishing with my 2015 Kia Soul

Hidden Hitch 60256 for 2010 Kia Soul. Needed hitch for hauling 2-man 10ft. pond boat on small trailer. I could not believe that I could obtain a frame mounted hitch with drawbar included, a car specific plug in wiring kit and 1-7/8" ball hitch for $$$.$$ with free shipping! This grandpa can now take his 4yr old grandson fishing in style. Thank you etrailer. Michael C. , Tulsa, OK.

I am still very pleased with all components.

by:

This harness is SUPPOSED TO work for ALL Kia Souls. It does NOT! We have a 2011 and a 2014 Soul and let me tell you, there is 3" difference in the back end between the tail lights (42" versus 47"). I know that does not sound like much, but the green wire that is supposed to go to the passenger side tail light is too short for the 2014. The ONLY way I could wire it was through the very top of the bumper (scraping the crap out of my arms in the process) and there is about 2" of visible wire that is pinched between the bumper and frame below the seal of the trunk. Couldn't you just add 3 more inches of green wire

by:

Just installed this wire harness on my 2012 Kia Soul. Installation went very smoothly. The online video posted on etrailer's website was all the direction I needed. Only problem is that I couldn't fit the box in an "open space" behind the taillight assembly and had to let it hang in the bumper area.

by:

All the items I purchased for my 2016 Kia Soul+ were installed with no issues:
--------- ---------------------------------------------------------- -------
1 Curt T-connector Harness - 4-flat
1 Draw-tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver Class I - 1-1/4
1 Etrailer.com Rubber Hitch Cover For 1-1/4 Hitches
1 Bracket 4-pole
1 Bracket Long
1 Curt Led 4-way Flat Connector Tester

What really made the difference are the videos posted for various products.
The videos removed all the guesswork; straightforward installation.
Regards.

by:

This wiring harness was not a direct fit for the 2014 Kia Soul. Following the instructions there is no way the green wire with connectors reach the passenger light
assembly. I had to splice this wire to make the connection. It was short by at least 20
inches. The 4 wire veh. to trailer harness could have been a little longer, it reached the left side of the receiver hitch. The box said no splicing. NOT TRUE. After installation it worked as advertised. I was just glad I had the wire to complete the installation.

by:

Well, it's been a year since I installed this hitch. I've used it over a dozen times and have no complaints. It was extremely easy to install also.

Up, Ive had it installed over a year and have used it a dozen times or more. I have no complaints, it is sturdy and as long as you keep the receiver lubed up it wont rust.

by:

Hello
We had the wiring kit installed
but it never did work correctly. I have a boat trailer that I had normally towed with my GMC pickup with factory trailer wiring and connection and never had any issues. The wiring harness for the Kia Soul has never worked as required.
I never sent it back. Just too much trouble. Have you had other issues with this harness? I really would like a harness that works!

Thanks for your concern

by:

So far, so good. The install was relatively simple. Like many reviews have noted, the green wire to the passenger side tail-light is not very long. The key is to make sure you install the controller box with the green wire on the bottom. This should give you the longest reach to the other side.

Thanks for getting back to me. The product was working great until last fall when my wife noticed my Kia Soul’s turn signal lights weren’t working with no trailer connected at the time. I didn’t have time to mess with it, so I just disconnected the trailer wiring controller box and reconnected the car lights direct. After that, the car’s turn signals were working properly. Just this weekend, I needed to use the trailer again so I reconnected the trailer light wiring and everything works again even with the trailer disconnected. My guess is that there was some moisture or loose wiring causing the issue in the fall. I intend to keep an eye on it and, if needed, I’ll switch to a product that is powered directly from the car battery.

Thanks for the follow up Mike. I agree it was likely a lose connection using a powered converter would be a great idea when you are ready to upgrade.

by:

Received the order quickly. Instructions were less than thorough, but were enough to get started. An additional 4-6" of wire for the trailer and passenger side connection would have made this a much easier task. Clearance for the controller is definitely hampered due to the short wires. Once I buttoned everything up, it all worked fine.

I first bought a trlr hitch for an additional luggage carrier mount. Their hitch for my car was exact and precisely welded together. I installed it in minutes on my driveway. Now I ordered a trlr lighting kit to power the lights to my trlr I used on a different vehicle. It also worked perfectly and took a short time to install. Thank you Etrailer for Quality at a reasonable price. I am a retired mechanic and welder and know a Great fabricated product and accessories when I see it, and especially when it fits and works perfectly. Thanks Again!

For starters I must say that this little project turned into a large one quite rapidly. Watched a video days before and was sure this could be done in a matter of minutes and I was wrong. When I pulled the wiring harness out of the package I immediately knew something was not correct with the right rear wire as it was extremely short and my suspicions were spot on. The right (Green) wire that goes to the passenger side is about a foot to short to even get close to that side of the vehicle no matter how you run the wire so I ended up hunting down a spool of wire I had kicking around in my toolbox and gathered up my soldering gun and solder and spent 40 minutes looking for my shrink tubes to seal everything up after. The sticky adhesive supplied wouldn't keep the electronic box secured so I had to go look for a roll of 3M adhesive that I purchased for another project then began the wiring. I initially believed about 8 inches of extra wire would need to be added to get to the other side. After I realized it still was to short and I had to add about an additional 4 inches of wire to reach the plug on the back of the taillight. I put the right taillight in first with no problem. The drivers side was a total nightmare. the positioning of the box as described in the video was not a good spot as it interferes with the bulbous back section of the taillight on the inside as you attempt to push it into place. After reaching for a rubber mallet I realized slamming it would not be in my best interest but screaming profanities for 20 minutes seemed to help. I really don't know which Chinese manufacturer built this garbage but I'll be straight forward, they obviously can't read a tape measure

by:

Had to replace my first unit because the body shop damaged the wiring.
1. E trailer is a great supplier for trailer parts, have gotten 3 frame hitches and wiring kits. Price right, fast delivery 100% happy.
2.The wiring kit is easy to install, pop the tail lights and a trim piece under the hatch, plug and play the connectors and it's done!
