Troubleshooting 2015 Kia Soul Right Side Backup Light Not Working with Curt Wiring Harness Installed

Question:

Hi I just installed the curt 56222 on my 2015 Kia soul. The rear passenger side lights are now not working correctly. If the headlights are on the right side backup light does not light up and the right side brake light is not working on both the car and the trailer. The cars lights work fine when the trailer harness is disconnected. I was wondering if this was maybe a grounding issue?

Yes, it sounds like you have a grounding issue with the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56222. If your 2015 Kia Soul backup light wasn't working at all then it's safe to say the wiring is the issue, but since it works back and forth I recommend trying to get a good, clean ground and testing the functions out prior to pursuing a warranty claim.
