Recommended Setup for Towing a 1500-lb Boat with a 2025 BMW X7

Question:

Hey, Could you tell me what I need. I have a 2025 x7 40i m sport package. I need to tow my 1500lb boat. Its not pre wired either. I dont really care to have it recognize the trailer, just need lights to work. Could you tell me what I need. Thanks

Hey Jon! To tow your 1500lb boat behind a 2025 BMW X7, you'll need a trailer hitch receiver, ball mount, ball, and wiring. The only hitch receiver we currently have available for the 2025 X7 is the Oris Trailer Hitch with Detachable Hitch Receiver # TS86VR, which has plenty of capacity to tow a trailer with a boat that size.

For a ball mount and ball, I recommend the etrailer Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # e66PR. It's going to give you flexibility on height and a two balls of different sizes in case you need to tow other trailers in the future.

For wiring, the Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT will be your best bet with the zero-contact clamp sensors which will clamp right onto your vehicle's existing taillight wires, keeping the factory wiring fully intact.
