Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, we're going to be checking out the Peterson Quick Mount Trailer Reflector. So when it comes to your trailer visibility, you know you can never really be too safe. A lot of distracted drivers out on the roads nowadays. And so, you know, putting a few reflectors on your trailer, something like this, will just help light it up a little bit more, you know Whenever people shine their lights on it, when they're going down the road, especially at nighttime, you know it's going to flash and throw that light kind of back at them. And that kind of holds true for even just, you know, storing your trailer.

I know, myself included, a lot of people leave it off the side of their driveway, you know, on the side of the house or whatever the case may be. And a lot of times, especially, you know, new people coming over to the house, they're not really familiar with it being there. And having a couple of reflectors will help light it up and help let others know what you have going on. So obviously the most important thing about the reflector is if it actually works. So I went ahead and turn off the overhead lights and grabbed my flashlight and just kind of run through it as if the car's headlights are hitting it.

And you can see when that light gets on there, it really, really does a great job. You know, even not direct lighting it still throws off that that sparkle kind of and makes everything a little bit easier to see. So generally speaking, you know, these are kind of the perfect size reflectors. Kind of, like, great all around reflector that's going to work with pretty much any application. You could see, even on a small trailer fender like we have here today, that's on there no issues.

But for those of you that, you know, need to figure out exactly if this is going to go where you want it, we'll run through a few measurements. So the reflector itself from end to end, it's going to be four and 4-3/8 of an inch long. That's going to be an inch and 15-16ths wide. And from the mounting to the mounting hole, that's going to be 4-5/16th of an inch. With that said, and the back of it it's going to have this adhesive and it works really well actually.

This stuff has come a long way. It's really sticky. So that's really going to help kind of supplement, you know, the attachment of the reflector itself, along with the two holes there where you can put your self tappers. So this adhesive is going to kind of do a few different things as well. It's not just going to help hold the reflector on but it almost creates a gasket or seal around the reflector that way, you know it helps keep moisture out behind the lens. And being that it's white, I kinda notice with some of these reflectors having that kind of a white backdrop behind them helps make this a little bit brighter. You know what I mean Whenever the lights hit it, having a white background behind it kind of just makes that reflector pop a little bit more, as opposed to, let's say, that backing paper wasn't there. If you just put it on this, you know, this dark fender, it just won't give you as much shine. So kind of it does a few different things other than, you know, just helping it stick to the trailer. So with the red colored reflectors, usually face towards the back of your trailer, you know, in this area. If you need ones to go on to the side or that face up towards the front, they also make some amber colored ones which are identical, just a different color. And that's what I would recommend. You can grab these here at etrailer as well. But you know, other than that, at the end of the day, a very inexpensive way to help keep you a little bit more safe. So to get your reflector on first you need to choose a spot. If you're going to be replacing an old one, great. If not, you know, you can pick that spot out. Typically you'd want the red portion-- Or, I'm sorry, the red reflector to be on the back of the trailer. So people behind you can see it. I'm going to mount ours right here on the back of our fender. And what you want to do is make sure that surface is nice and clean. So I just got some rubbing alcohol on this pad. Rub any dirt and debris off there. If your trailer's really rusty or something like that, may not be a bad idea to sand it down. Maybe put a fresh coat of paint on there, and once it's dry then we can work on getting it in place. So now I went ahead, peeled off the backing paper there for our sticky tape. And then we can put it in position where we want it. Hold it in place. Then I'm just going to take some self-tapping screws. Now these do not come included so you will have to grab them separately. And just secure the light down with the screws. And that'll finish up our look at of the Peterson Quick Mount Trailer Reflector..
