Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

very easy to install and fits just right

by:

The product is top notch quailty and design. I love that the main unit doesn't protrude past the rear bumper. Hidden Hitch just like it's name. Directions were very accurate and easy to following. I would recommend this to all.

by:

The worst choice of hitchCompared to the OEM and Curt hitches, the Hidden hitch is crudely made by bending the square bar to pass over the tail pipe, and has a thin flat black spray finish rather than glossy powder coat.
I returned it to get a Curt hitch. But the OEM hitch is even better than the Curt, as it preserves the tie-down function, retains the better OEM muffler hanger, and includes a wiring harness with special grommet to come out of the spare tire well instead of hang over the bumper.

Product is great. Service was exceptional. Thanks

2004 SubaruForester

arrived as described and installed in less than an hour. very well done indeed!

by:

Product seems excellent, the installation went exactly according to the video and was not difficult at all. Thanks.

by:

Very easy installation. It took me about 45 minutes to install by myself. Online video was extremely helpful.

by:
2014 SubaruForester

This product really is a 'hidden hitch'. It fits neatly under the forester with only the receiver showing. The entire process took about an hour on a 2002 S. The online video was very helpful and enabled my 14 year old son to do most of the work!

by:

Product was exactly as described, delivery was quick (in fact, quicker than promised), and customer service was outstanding!

by:

The draw-tite hitch went on in about an hour and 15 min, the bolts were a little rusty. The hitch showed up in good shape and in a timely matter.

by:
1999 SubaruForester

Hitch was delivered ahead of schedule and took less than 50 minutes to install. Very neat installation.

99 Subaru Forester

Thanks!! Frank

by:

Great ProductWorks great and you can hardly see the hitch.

As indicated, it was a bit of work to install.

Looks better than the factory hitch and is a LOT cheaper.

by:

Online support sold me.Solidly built product. Easy to install. What sold me though was the "how to" online video. The video helped make the install a breeze. I was like I had done this countless times before. The muffler only had to be loosened, not lowered to get the hitch in place.

by:

Surprisingly easy to install! The installation was pretty easy and the staff at etrailer was great to work with! They were very with me when I had a question about the installation. I would definitely do business with them again and the SHIPPING WAS FREE!
Thanks

by:

I dont know about the product yet because I have not installed it but the service from etrailer was great. The information provided on their site sealed the deal especially the video instruction. They also made good with their low price promise in a timely manner.

Beautiful hitchGreat hitch. Easy to install (having to drop the exhaust for my Forester was a bit of a hassle, though), good price, and great service and delivery through eTrailer.com. Would never buy a hitch from anywhere else.

SubaruForester

Excellent PurchaseI purchased this 2 years ago and used it when I borrowed a trailer from a friend. Installation instructions were great. Very please with this hitch. I have a Subaru Forester and the only part of teh hitch you see is the 1 1/4" receiver.

by:

THE WIRE HARNESS WAS INSTALLED IN SECONDS, THE HITCH WAS INSTALLED IN LESS TIME THAT WAS MENTION I AM SO GLAD FOR THE INTERNET OR I WOULD HAVE SPENT UPWARDS OF $600.00 WITH THE ITEMS IF I PURCHASED THEM LOCALLY. AND I GOT THEM IN A FEW DAYS OFTER ORDERING THEM!!!!!! SO THANK YOU KATE AND E-TRAILER EMPLOYEE'S AND I ALWAYS WILL DO BUSINESS WITH YOUR COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!
THANKS TONY D. IN VERMONT USA

2006 SubaruForester

Can't wait to tow something.Bought this for our 2006 Forester. Installation was a snap, took about 45 minutes (with air tools). Everything fit perfect. Also got the 4 pin wiring kit which was easy to install. Solidly built, nice looking and rated almost twice what the car is rated for so I'm looking forward to getting our tent trailer. Of course, now I have to learn how to back up a trailer...

by:
SubaruForester

The Draw-Tite hitch is robust, well designed, and easier to install than the one I purchased elsewhere for my previous Forester. The wiring harness was as easy as plugging in a mobile phone charger. It, too, seems very well made, with plenty of slack for adjusting the length of the harness for different length trailer harnesses. The purchase experience was quick and very easy! Thanks, etrailer!!

by:
2002 SubaruForester

Hitch was easy to install using only a hand socket set. I did apply WD40 to all bolts the day before and had no issue with frozen bolts. It does help to have a support and second set of hands to position the hitch in place. Hitch is sturdy and fits exactly into the Subaru bolt holes. Works very well with our bike rack.

Etrailer delivery was very quick...ordered Fri mid-day and had the hitch installed by Monday night. Have ordered several items from etrailer and all were delivered well-packaged and fast.

by:
2006 SubaruForester

Item 36311 installed on 2006 Subaru Forester: Exc experience. Etrailer communications were frequent throughout the process. Product delivered in very resonable time and was packaged well. Installation was simplified due to the excellent instructional video on etrailer website. The only additional tool needed was a torque wrench - which can be had at your local Walmart for 30 bucks. Hitch looks marvelous and only the receiver mount is visible. Overall a very pleasant experience. Quality product and great service. Will definately do business with this company again - and will recommend to my friends!

2007 SubaruForester

Great product, easy install. Took more than hour for me, because I had my neighbors distracting me. All in told about an hour an half. I did discover one trick. We use the help of a floor jack to hold up the hitch as we put the bolts in. It was a big help with jack doing all the work of holding the hitch place.

by:

A 19 mm socket is required not listed on the installation paperwork also the muffler has to be lowered from the passenger side holder it went on well the holes were aligned accurately a 19 mm wrench is needed for the canister bolt

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2004 Subaru Forester
I have a trailer hitch fit for your vehicle, but none of the trailer hitches that we offer for the 2004 Subaru Outback are listed as fits for the 2004 Subaru Forester. I do not think the hitch will fit your 2004 Forester. For a trailer hitch for your 2004 Forester I recommend the Draw-Tite Clas II Frame Receiver Hitch # 36311. This hitch will provide you with a 1-1/4 inch receiver and is great for light-duty towing. I have attached an installation video of this hitch for you.

  • Comparing Curt and Draw-Tite Class II Trailer Hitch Receivers For a 2006 Subaru Forester
For the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12038 which fits your 2006 Subaru Forester, Curt no longer requires you to use the Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap # 18050 with use on hitch mounted accessories. You will be able to use your class II bike rack with up to 350lbs of total weight on the Curt # C12038 or 300lbs on the Draw-Tite # 36311. These weight capacities are given from the manufacturer and I can not say exactly why one will be rated for a higher capacity than the other.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2006 Subaru Forester
For your 2006 Subaru Forester we have the Draw Tite hitch part # 36311 which is a 1-1/4 inch hitch. Only larger vehicles like SUVs and trucks will have the larger two inch hitch size. I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out though. This is a Class II hitch which means it's the highest capacity 1-1/4 inch hitch as it has 3,500 lb trailer weight capacity.

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations/Comparisons for a 2006 Subaru Forester
For the 2006 Subaru Forester there are only Class II hitches with 1-1/4 inch receivers available. The Draw-Tite hitch # 36311 and Curt hitch # C12038 are both rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight. The Curt hitch is rated for 350 pounds tongue weight and the Draw-Tite is rated for 300 pounds tongue weight. These capacities are greater than what the vehicle is capable of though. According to the owner's manual if the trailer has brakes then the vehicle can tow 2,400 pounds gross...

  • Trailer Hitch Options and Maximum Weight Capacity for a 2004 Subaru Forester
After researching your question, I found a couple of sources stating that the towing capacity for a 2004 Subaru is 2,400 lbs. Nonetheless, I recommend double checking your specific owner's manual. Also, if you're looking for a Trailer Hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class II - 1-1/4" (300 lbs TW // 3500 lbs GTW) # 36311 Please check out the attached video that highlights why I recommend this particular Trailer Hitch for your vehicle. • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2007 Subaru Forester
The best bike rack option for a vehicle is a hitch mounted bike rack as it provides the most secure attachment point and doesn't require lifting the vehicle up and down off of the roof. It also keep the bike out of the wind unlike a roof rack option. So for a hitch for the 2007 Subaru Forester the Draw Tite part # 36311 is the way to go as it does not require the use of a stabilizer strap like the Curt does with bike racks. I really like the Saris Freedom Superclamp part # SA4025F. This...

I attached a help article on hitch sizes for you to check out as well. Both the Curt Class II Hitch, Item # C12038, and the Draw-Tite Class II Hitch, Item # 36311, are confirmed fits for your 2003 Subaru Forester. The Curt Hitch requires stabilizing straps to be used when using hitch for non-trailer loads like a bike rack. When stabilizing straps are not used, your warranty from Curt is voided. Draw-Tite hitches do not require stabilizing straps to be used on non-trailer loads. The Curt and Draw-Tite Hitches have the same maximum gross trailer weight of...

  • Availability of 2 Inch Trailer Hitch for 2007 Subaru Forester
We do have a couple trailer hitches available that are confirmed to fit your 2007 Subaru Forester, however they are all Class II models that feature a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. There is not a 2 inch hitch receiver available for your vehicle. Trailer hitch manufacturers tend to design their hitches to closely match the capacity of the vehicles they are designed to fit on. Trailer hitches with larger 2 inch receiver openings will have higher weight capacities, which is likely why there...

It's not necessary to use a lift to install a hitch on your Forester, but if you have or can borrow ramps or jack stands from somebody, it will make the installation much easier. If that's not an option, we offer some fairly inexpensive ramps as part # FT11909MI or jack stands as part # PTW41021. Either the Curt # C12038 or the Draw-Tite # 36311 would work fine for you.
