E-Trailer Hitch #87606 ("Hidden Hitch") Installation on a 2014 Jeep Compass:
The installation took about 2 1/2 hours. I consider myself an average Joe regarding mechanical abilities. Yes, you do have to drop the muffler and remove the heat shield. I let the muffler hang freely- that was the only way I had enough room to push the lift into place. The rubber muffler suspension mounts slip/pop right off with a little spray lube. That took me 30+ minutes to figure out. Also makes reinstallation easy. I did not jack the car up and was able to access everything by lying on the garage floor. I did the project myself- working from the floor enables you to use your legs to lift the hitch into position. Get one side supported with one bolt (untightened) and then you can mark the facia cut where the hitch tongue hits it. I marked the cut- out with masking tape and used a dremmel with a cut off wheel....a bit of trial an error...I didn't want a bigger piece removed than necessary. When completed, the hitch mount flange on the un-bolted side was easy to move into place and secure loosely with bolts. I then secured the first side with the remaining nut and bolt/lock washer. There is not much room to swing wrenches so that took some time to torque the 4 mounting bolts. Suggest using a drop light for this part. Hope to install the trailer light harness (item # 118539) in the next week or so. Will right a review on that too.

Installation was very easy... just inserted the bolts according to the directions and with one person helping hold the entire process took 30 minutes.

The delivery was on time and the product was delivered in good condition. The instructions on how high to trim the body faschia was confusing to my husband and he didn't trim it up far enough. This caused 30 mins to end up being 3 hrs. I finally convinced him to trim higher and like magic it was installed. End result was excellent! I like the product and would recommend it to others.
Item fit and all parts were included. Black coating was chipped in a few areas from shipping I suppose, but its going to get its fair share of scrapes being under my jeep, just keep an eye and touch up when needed so no rusting occurs.
