Question:
Can I install a 7 point wiring harness into my 2019 Compass Trailhawk? All that is available from Mopar is 4. I worry about the electrical system if I try to modify the 4 I bought into a 7. I need a 7 to run my camper and Im wondering if i need to just by a Cherokee instead. Please help.

Since you already have the 4-pole trailer connector in place, the rest is pretty easy. If your trailer does not have brakes and you don't need the 12-v feed from the battery of the tow vehicle, you can simply use the
# 31785 4-pole to 7-way adapter. Plug the 4 pole from the adapter into the 4-pole you installed and ground the white wire to the vehicle frame, and you're good to go. You'll also need a bracket like # 18136 to mount the 7-way to the hitch crossbar.
If your trailer has electric brakes, you'll also need a brake controller to actuate them. The Curt # C51180 Echo Wireless Brake Controller is the simplest to install option we offer. The Echo would wirelessly communicate with your smart phone via an app that would allow you to control the trailer braking from the cab of the vehicle using your phone. You'll also need the # ETBC7L install kit which includes the # 37185 adapter I mentioned above and the wire, circuit breaker and hardware needed to complete the install. The only wiring you'd need to do would be to run one wire from the rear of the vehicle to the positive battery terminal which isn't difficult.
You really don't need to be concerned about the vehicle's electrical system. The brake controller draws power directly from the battery, and the connection is circuit protected by the circuit breaker included in the kit.
I'll link to some demonstration videos showing how the Curt Echo and the install kit work.
