Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2017 Audi A4

The product seems great, but the installation was a challenge. My car repair shop didn't want to tackle the job, suggesting that a body shop would be better qualified to do the installation. After watching your video, I chose to do it myself. In the end, the installation was a lot more challenging for my 2014 A4 than for the 2017 A4 in your installation video.

The exhaust was in the way making it very hard to tighten one of the long bolts. It would have been easier if I would have dropped the exhaust, but that wasn't indicated by the video nor by the directions with the hitch. And dropping the long bolts into place was really challenging due to a severe lack of vertical clearance.

In the end, I got it done. It looks great and feels really strong. It took several hours, but I was glad to do it myself.

2016 Audi S4

I installed this on a 2016 Audi S4 so everyone can confirm it fits. It took about 2 hours to install. I do recommend having a second person help you lift it up onto the frame so you can hand tighten the bolts on. It is incredibly difficult to torque the most lateral bolts down to spec. Not sure I even did. On the S4 you have about 2 inches between the bolt and the 4 muffler tips to get a ratchet in there. Then when you torque on the ratchet you have about 25* of motion and you can only use a short handle one to get it in there. Cutting the bottom fascia to let the hitch poke through was rather emotional. You definitely need the width the recommend but could probably snug it up a little closer by going 2 to 2.5 inches instead of 3

All in all the hitch looks pretty good and fits the car well.

2018 Audi A4

Fantastic hitch for my 2018 Audi A4 Allroad. I followed the directions exactly and the hitch has preformed with my Thule rack for over a year now, flawlessly.

This is my second etrailer.com purchase of a hitch to haul my bikes to and from the trail. I returned since my first experience was fantastic. In addition to great customer service and a simple ordering process, I have the ability to research the best fit and easiest installation for my car.

The installation on my current car was very easy due to the video posted on your site.

Great service. Lightning fast shipping. Thank you so much for your quick responses.

I chose this based on the etrailer notes indicating the Curt hitch required a stabilizer strap, thanks for carefully considering the specifications.
Installation was a bit fiddly, I used some extensions and a wobble extension to get some of the bolts going. I also used a helper to lift the hitch up initially. A couple of hours. But instructions and videos on this site were enough to do it.
I was a little nervous cutting the bumper cover. A dremel just made a molten mess out of the plastic, so I used a utility knife and it cut fine, and in the end looks clean. Just plan ahead and be careful that step.

After a year of usage the paint is holding up (no salt roads here).
I like the loops at the hitch opening better than the cut metal of the Curt hitch, as I can thread cables with end loops through the holes to lock bicycles easier.
Other than the square hitch receiver itself, it is truly stealth and clean looking

Bought this hitch to attach a bike rack. Good instructions, fairly easy to install. U-tube videos helped. Have used a few times, one for an extended period on vacation. Very tight. Bicycles do not move; rack has solid connection to car. I originally wanted a 2" receiver for that reason, but the 1-1/4 works fine. I saved a lot of money installing this hitch instead of having my local garage do it.

The trailer hitch looks fine but I ordered silicone sealant with it and that came in smashed. I think I can still get it to work for what I need it for.

Purchased this trailer hitch so I could carry bicycles on the back of a 2016 Audi A4. Installation was easy - included instructions were clear - I would recommend to anyone looking for a similar application.

  • Tips for Getting Draw-Tite Hitch DT24950 Top Plates and Bolts Installed on a 2018 Audi A4 Allroad
You should not have to remove the rear fascia on your 2018 Audi A4 Allroad to install Draw-Tite trailer hitch # DT24950 but it would help you have more space to work if you did. There aren't any specific instructions for that though. It might be helpful to have someone pull rearward on the fascia just enough to give you space to put the plate with both bolts in it into position. That way you would not have to remove the fascia to get the required space. That would be the first thing I...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Audi A4
The Draw Tite Hitch part # DT24950 that you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 2018 Audi A4 and would work well. To find an installer you'll want to find a local mechanic to you who has a good reputation and have them do it since Draw Tite does not have a list of installers and for the most part trailer hitch installs are pretty basic for mechanics.

If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. • Installing a Trailer Hitch Receiver on a 2018 Audi A4 Allroad and Using the Hands Free Trunk Sensor
The Hands Free Trunk sensors on most vehicles can have a reduced range when operating with a hitch installed. However it looks like in this case the sensor is higher up and points out and away from the vehicle out of the rear trim. This gives you an overall wider range of operation for your sensor than in other vehicles. The Draw Tite Class I, part # DT24950 should not interfere with your 2018 Audi A4 Allroad due to the installation location of the rear sensor. I've included an installation...

  • Why Does Curt Hitch for 2017 Audi A7 Require Stabilizer Strap
Curt recommends the stabilizer strap with non-supported loads like bike racks to help support the hitch when going over bumps to prevent some of the vertical shock from being transferred to the hitch. Curt does this as a precaution, it's not that Draw Tite or Hidden Hitch are stronger. Both hitch brands make outstanding hitches that are typically stronger than what they are rated for. I would say that Curt just happens to approach the idea of a bike rack/cargo carrier being used in a lower...
