Installing a Trailer Hitch Receiver on a 2018 Audi A4 Allroad and Using the Hands Free Trunk Sensor

Question:
Im look at installing a receiver for carrying a platform bike rack on the back of my 2018 Audi Allroad. Im struggling to find information if a Draw-Tite receiver like DT24950 interferes with the operation of the hands free tailgate opener. I know I would have to trim the facia at the rear as part of the installation. Any information or guidance on the topic? Thanks

The Hands Free Trunk sensors on most vehicles can have a reduced range when operating with a hitch installed. However it looks like in this case the sensor is higher up and points out and away from the vehicle out of the rear trim. This gives you an overall wider range of operation for your sensor than in other vehicles.
The Draw Tite Class I, part # DT24950 should not interfere with your 2018 Audi A4 Allroad due to the installation location of the rear sensor.
I've included an installation video for the 2017 Audi A4, so you can get an idea of the process. Be aware that the precise location of the exhaust can be different between trim levels, so you may want to lower the exhaust during a home installation.
