Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I ordered a trailer hitch from this company and I was pleased with how fast it got to me. However, their packaging was horrible. No protective wrapping on the hitch itself, they just dropped it in a box and shipped it. When I received it part of the hitch was actually protruding out of the box. I opened it up to find several areas of the hitch where the black paint was rubbed off. I understand a few scuffs, but bare metal was actually showing. A lot of reviews on here talk about how great their customer service is, but I had no such luck. First, I was on hold for over 10 minutes. Then, the woman I spoke to said they could do nothing for paint issues......but it's a brand new item though? I shouldn't have to touch up paint on a piece that hasn't even been on my vehicle. I explained this to her very politely, and she than offered a credit. Nope, wasn't having that. So she asked me to send pictures which I said of course to. I tried sending pictures, only to get an email back saying they have a 5Mb limit on emails. So I had to resize the images (twice) before they could view them. The rest of the email correspondence was short, confusing, and lacked so many details I had to keep emailing back with questions. Finally I tried calling the person directly but was not able to get a hold of her. I called their 800 number and spoke to someone else. She told me a new one would be shipped to me as a 'courtesy', and I would have to send the original back. Thanks for the 'courtesy' of replacing my damaged item. Luckily, they at least paid for shipping. But I still had to repackage it and drive it to UPS. I love the product, but am so disappointed with their shipping policies and customer service! 422658

Hitch was received in a couple of days of ordering. Out side carton was slightly damaged but no big deal. Viewed installation video several times. Very easy to install, only problem I had was when I attached the driver's side screw I had to get an assist from my wife (we're both 77 yrs old) to stabilize, NOT hold up, the hitch because it was leaning on the muffler which I had previously braced. I was afraid to break the exhaust pipe on the engine side of the muffler. I then attached the middle U bolt and my wife was done. I then bolted the passenger side, tightened all the bolts put the muffler back in place and was done. Two hrs start to finish...... 441872

Received in two days as you said. The installation was easy except that the two side bolts of the hitch would not reach each side of the CRV. The hitch was about 1/2 inch shy in length of reaching to connect the opposite side. We took the hitch off and used a block and sledge hammer to widen where the screws would fit. No big problem, but might be for someone that would not think of doing that. The only other problem was connection the inside muffler fastener on the CRV as there was no room as the hitch was in the way. We got it partially connected and when I had the vehicle serviced at the Honda dealership they connected the inside of the muffler properly at no charge. However, even with those problems, I was saved a considerable amount of money by doing it myself rather than pay the dealership or any other place of business to purchase and install the same hitch. To save yourself questions regarding the width of the hitch, I would remeasure the distance between both sides to make sure your dimensions are the same as the CRV. Also, the inside muffler connection part of the hitch was too small of an opening to reach the matching part of the vehicle. 23899

Well made, good looking hitch that was very easy to install. Total time to install was about an hour. Despite several attempts to do it on my own I did need an extra set of hands to hold the hitch while I got the first bolt in place. Video instructions were perfect. Exactly what I was looking for to attach a hitch mounted bike rack on my Honda CR-V. Saved me several hundred dollars from having a dealership or [rental trailer company] install it. Definitely recommend! 694205

Good deal, etrailer got my hitch to me ahead of schedule. It was carefully packaged in a box that kept the hitch from any incidental damage from the courier and had hand cutouts on opposite sides to optimize moving it. I love packaging done correctly! As for the install, this is the second hitch I installed myself, it took a bit longer than I expected, though this is no fault of the hitch more the vehicle itself. The threaded inserts, or nuts welded to the frame to receive the hitch install bolts were dirty and and had a bit of rust in them, to be expected in a 3yr old vehicle with 30k on it. I chased the threads with a lightly oiled tap a couple times to remove the debris and after that the install went very smooth. Hitch seems very well built, expect many years of use from it. 121184

my crv manual says trailer towingvrafe is 1500 ponds maximumcan you tow the 3000pounds Trailer on the tounge weight up to 500 pounds on this hitch specs with your 2010ctv ???do you have a load equalizer component, and trailers brakes ?i naively thought that 1500was max trailer my 2010 CRV would able to haul. Thanks for yor kind replySteve Connor Cobourg Canada

The 87440 hitch has a capacity of 3,500 pounds total trailer weight and 525 pounds tongue weight. Your CR-V may be less, and if that is the case, that is the weight rating you should abide by. A load equalizer or weight distribution should not be used with this hitch, Hidden Hitch specifies that it is not rated for WD systems. I looked up a 2010 CR-V manual, and your initial thoughts are correct. It is limited to 1,500 pounds total trailer weight. Tongue weight should be about 10-15% of the total weight, which the hitch can certainly handle.

2008 Honda CR-V

Due to some changes we made to our vehicle lineup, I had the need to install a hitch on my 2008 Honda CR-V. After getting a quote of $765 + tax from my local Honda mechanic, and not being willing to trust U-haul with my car's electrical system, I turned to the internet for other options. I came across the installation video for this hitch, so I decided it was worth a try. Parts arrived quickly, and I was able to install everything in an afternoon. Only difficult part was the pre-existing weld nuts were a mess from five Wisconsin winters, so I did need to use a thread tap to clean them out. Once this was complete, I was able to finish the entire project (including wiring) in about an hour. Who can argue with saving over $500 and having the reward of completing the project yourself? I plan on having all of the bolts checked at my next oil change just to be sure, but I am confident everything is installed properly. I will definitely recommend the folks at etrailer to anyone I know of who's looking for a hitch and doesn't mind doing the work themselves. Heck, even if you paid your mechanic to install the parts, you'd still be saving big. Thanks for a great experience! 89980

2007 Honda CR-V

This entire experience was great. First it was easy to find the right hitch (75547) for my 2007 Honda CRV on the website, then the installation video gave me a realistic idea of what it was going to take for me to install it. When I ordered the hitch came quickly. The installation process went exactly like the video. Using the spray lubricant on the rubber muffler mounts was a great tip. Be sure to use a torque wrench (I had to borrow a friend's). I was amazed how much more I had to tighten the bolts before the torque wrench "clicked." Now my wife and I can load our bikes on our new "trailer hitch" mounted bike rack without muscling them up on the roof the way we've been doing for 20 years! The only negative was that one arm of the hitch punched through the shipping box it arrived in. I was worried some of the hardware might have fallen out. Turns out all the hardware is taped inside the 2" hitch opening before shipment, so everything was there. Thanks. 435249

2011 Honda CR-V

We recently purchased a trailer hitch for our 2011 Honda CRV. The hitch we purchased from etrailer.com is well built / very substantial unit and was a breeze to install. The only thing is when it arrived, one of the hitch ends broke through the end of the box and was not protected. Thankfully the hitch end wasn't damaged. I highly recommend this product and purchasing through etrailer.com 154483

DrawTite hitch for my Honda C-RV was the best combination for ground clearance, tow GVWR, vertical weight specs and a nice little tab to mount the electrical plug. It was very easy to install, etrailer had the best price with no shipping cost, and I ordered it on 7/11 and received it on 7/17. 845356

Hi just purchased a installed a draw tight receiver 75547. Nice product well made installed like instructions directed. Would suggest a note: 10 mmX1.25 nut on vehicle may need to be tapped not included. The bolts 10mm were poor quality. Needed to use a die to chase the threads. The bolts needed a 17mms socket but the U bolt was standard required 11/16. Make them all metric. > I love the product and looks great. 802384

  • Can a 2007 Honda CR-V Tow a 15 Foot Bass Boat Trailer
A weight distribution system is a device that is installed on a trailer and uses leverage to transfer the weight of the load across the entire towing setup. It's in addition to a trailer hitch and is optional for towing, although sometimes highly recommended. The trailer hitch receivers designed for your 2007 Honda CR-V are not rated with a weight distribution system, therefore you don't have the option of using one. But you can still tow a trailer. I recommend the Draw-Tite # 75547...

  • How Much Cargo Weight Can 2009 Honda CR-V Carry in Trailer Hitch Cargo Carrier
You are correct that your 2009 Honda CR-V has a tongue weight capacity of 150 lbs regardless of what hitch you install on it. So if you install a Class III hitch like the Draw Tite part # 75547 and then install a folding cargo carrier in it like the Curt # C18153 you'd need to subtract the weight of the carrier from the tongue weight capacity to determine how much you could carry in the carrier. This carrier weighs 70 lbs so you'd have 80 lbs left over for cargo. I attached a review...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2007 Honda CR-V
If you don't already have a trailer hitch on your 2007 Honda CR-V, then I recommend you use the Draw-Tite # 75547. This hitch has a 2 inch receiver to allow you to use whatever bike carrier or cargo carrier you desire. I've attached a video of this installation. If you don't already have a bike rack, then I recommend a platform style rack that will allow you to put your wheels in cradles instead of having the frame contact of a hanging frame. You may want to check out the Kuat Transfer...

  • Hitch Mounted Bike Rack Recommendations for 2011 Honda CR-V
There are many hitch mounted bike racks that are compatible with the # 75547 Class III hitch installed on your 2011 Honda CR-V. If you want to avoid using an adapter bar, a platform style rack would work well. The Swagman XTC-2, part # S64670 is a very popular rack that is highly rated by our customers. The ratcheting hooks secure the bike frame, and work very well with womens bikes unless they are the step-through variety that only use a single down tube. A platform rack that hooks...

  • Trailer Hitch, Bike Rack, and Wiring Recommendation for 2010 Honda CR-V
I recommend the Class III Draw-Tite Hitch, # 75547, for your 2010 Honda CR-V. A Class III hitch provides more versatility with its 2 inch receiver opening. This hitch has a gross trailer weight capacity of 4,500 pounds and a tongue weight capacity of 675 pounds. Just a reminder, you will want to follow the weight limitations of the component with the lowest rating. This would include the towing capacity of your Honda or any accessory that you mount in the hitch. If you are interested...

  • Recommended Parts to Tow Pop-Up Camper with 2011 Honda CR-V
In order to tow a small pop-up camper with your 2011 Honda CR-V you will need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and a ball mount/hitch ball combo. All pricing information will be listed on the product pages for the options I recommend. Starting with the trailer hitch I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III # 75547 for an easy bolt-on installation and robust capacities that indicate its superior strength. I have attached an installation video that you can also follow along with if you decide...

  • How Much Can a 2007 Honda CR-V Tow and What Do I Need
According to the owner's manual for your 2007 Honda CR-V, "The maximum allowable weight of the trailer and everything in or on it must not exceed 1,500 lbs. The size of the trailer does not matter so long as it does not exceed this rating. In order to tow a trailer with your CR-V you will need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and a ball mount/hitch ball. For a trailer hitch, I recommend using the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75547 because it is a custom fit that...

  • Towing Capacity and Recommended Towing Components for 2010 Honda CR-V
I checked your owners manual online and your CR-V is rated to pull 1500 lbs max as you stated. I wouldn't hesitated to pull a 1200 or 1350 lb pop-up camper but you do need to make sure it has brakes. You will need a hitch, ball mount, wiring harness, and a brake controller. I recommend the following for your 2010 Honda CR-V: -Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13555 -T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118427 -7-Way RV Upgrade...
