Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Well made, good looking hitch that was very easy to install. Total time to install was about an hour. Despite several attempts to do it on my own I did need an extra set of hands to hold the hitch while I got the first bolt in place. Video instructions were perfect. Exactly what I was looking for to attach a hitch mounted bike rack on my Honda CR-V. Saved me several hundred dollars from having a dealership or [rental trailer company] install it. Definitely recommend!

Comments
Still working perfectly. I’ve kept a bike rack attached to it the entire year and no problems. Works exactly as I expected it to. Definitely recommend.

This product fit my 2011 Honda CRV perfectly. Bolted right on. Video on You Tube was easy to follow and understand. Installed in about 30 min. Hauled about 500lbs trailer from Atlanta to Ft Myers without issue right after installing. Only thing I wished I also bought was the ball to go with it, but found what I needed at the Home Depot. Product was delivered fast without extra cost. Very pleased and would highly recommend this product and etrailer.com again.

Love this hitch! Went in in about an hour with the help of my friend, his tools & knowledge. Already have my bike rack on it and plan to use the chain attachments (one of the reasons I bought this hitch) to anchor my paddleboard in the back!

Hitch appears to be very well maid, but hitch was not secured in box and was allowed to move about allowing it to come out of box scuffing paint off then needing paint repaired. Box arrived heavily taped up to hold box together by shipper, I had also ordered a front hitch, delivered at the same time made by Roadmaster which arrived with no damage, but had foam formed packing on both ends not allowing hitch to move in box and packaged by Roadmaster

Comments
Thank you for your review. Sometimes UPS re-tapes the boxes if they are damaged in transit. You can spray any bare metal with anti-corrosion paint to prevent rusting.

Awesome. I chose this hitch after watching several installation videos of various products. This was easy to install, with no special tools required. Saved a lot of $'s with this product. Our use will be for a bike rack, which works great. Hitch is well hidden bike rack is not on the vehicle. Will definitely purchase another hitch from etrailer when we have a new car.

I could not be more pleased with this trailer hitch! All the necessary hardware was included, the directions were concise but sufficient, and the installation went without a hitch, because that hitch is now securely attached to my Honda CR-V. The trickiest part was figuring out for the first time how to remove the exhaust pipe from its hangers, but some WD-40 and a flathead screwdriver for leverage worked just fine. If you have someone else around to help hold it in place while threading the bolts, it'll be easier. I managed to prop the hitch up and rest it on my legs while fastening it, and I'm none worse for the wear. I'm stoked to once again be able to use my bike rack and hit the trails!

Comments
Its worked without a single issue over the past year. The ultimate test was when I had to have my CR-V towed out of a garage a few straps connected from the hitch to a Jeep did the trick, no problems. Theres a little bit of rust forming on some parts of it, thanks to the winter weather, but its purely cosmetic.

DrawTite hitch for my Honda C-RV was the best combination for ground clearance, tow GVWR, vertical weight specs and a nice little tab to mount the electrical plug. It was very easy to install, etrailer had the best price with no shipping cost, and I ordered it on 7/11 and received it on 7/17.

Very study product. I'm impressed with the build quality. Arrived in a large cardboard box AND product was surprisingly well wrapped (even though trailer hitch frame receiver will forever be bolted to the outside undercarriage of my car). Order fulfillment, shipment, and delivery were mind-blowing-ly fast! Exactly what I ordered.

The package containing the hitch was damaged however the contents were complete and showed no signs of damage. I accomplished the installation alone after viewing the installation video on etrailer's website. This hitch was being installed on a 2007 CRV. I cleaned all four chassis nuts to ensure that I was not going to run into problems while lifting 30 pounds of hitch . All mounting holes lined up well and there were no problems encountered during the installation. I did have the rear of the CRV up on ramps to provide additional clearance. Lubricating the rubber isolators holding the muffler worked well to allow the muffler to be lowered. I placed blocks of wood under the center of the hitch to help hold it roughly in place during the installation of the first bolt on each side. The four mounting bolts were not tightened down until I ensured that the hitch was centered. The four mounting bolts were then tightened down to the specified torque. 38 inch pounds is a fair amount of torque in a confined area. Overall, a very straight forward installation and a nice looking and sturdy hitch. I also used the etrailer wiring bundle that simply plugged into the CRV. This is not the first time that etrailer has served me well.

I use this for my Kuat NV 2” bike rack. Been using it for a year straight, thru snow and rain and sand and salt. Made sure to check bolt torque after about 300 miles. No complaints, easy install, etrailer had it for much cheaper than anywhere else, just buy it!

We recently purchased a trailer hitch for our 2011 Honda CRV. The hitch we purchased from etrailer.com is well built / very substantial unit and was a breeze to install. The only thing is when it arrived, one of the hitch ends broke through the end of the box and was not protected. Thankfully the hitch end wasn't damaged. I highly recommend this product and purchasing through etrailer.com

Hitch took over a week to get. It arrived on my door stoop with one end sticking out of the box. However, it was not bent or damaged. I installed it in about an hour. I installed it on a 2011 Honda CR-V LX. I had to lower the muffler by removing the hanger bars from the rubber grommets to get access to the weld nuts on the right side of the vehicle. There wasn't any rust on the frame or weld nuts, but I did clean out the weldnut threads by running a tap through them. Then threaded in the four M10 bolts by hand, and then attached the 3/8" U-bolt. I hand tightened all the bolts to make sure the hitch was aligned. Then I torqued all the bolts and U-bolt nuts to specifications. I re-attached the muffler hangers into the rubber grommets and it was done.

I ordered at 6 PM Friday and by 5 Pm Saturday both the hitch and the mobile carrier we’re sitting in my driveway! It took an hour and a half to install the hitch and assemble and install the carrier. They worked fantastic. It is very sturdy.

It fit my 2010 Honda CRV perfectly. The etrailer installation videos were very helpful. I couldn't get the hitch receiver bolts to start in the frame weld nuts even after repeated spraying with penetrating oil and scrubbing with a nylon brush. I was about to give up. I checked e-trailer again and I found a video for cleaning corroded weld nuts with a battery terminal wire brush. I was skeptical it would work but after careful twisting in the weld nuts I was able to clean the weld nuts without damaging the threads. Great tip!

This entire experience was great. First it was easy to find the right hitch (75547) for my 2007 Honda CRV on the website, then the installation video gave me a realistic idea of what it was going to take for me to install it. When I ordered the hitch came quickly. The installation process went exactly like the video. Using the spray lubricant on the rubber muffler mounts was a great tip. Be sure to use a torque wrench (I had to borrow a friend's). I was amazed how much more I had to tighten the bolts before the torque wrench "clicked." Now my wife and I can load our bikes on our new "trailer hitch" mounted bike rack without muscling them up on the roof the way we've been doing for 20 years! The only negative was that one arm of the hitch punched through the shipping box it arrived in. I was worried some of the hardware might have fallen out. Turns out all the hardware is taped inside the 2" hitch opening before shipment, so everything was there. Thanks.

This trailer hitch does exactly what it is supposed to do and after a year of use, I can say I am very happy with my purchase. Still looks new as well (shiny black paint contrasting my rusty muffler!) Got a great deal for it on etrailer, and the super friendly staff made sure it would fit my car (honda crv2010). I use this pretty exclusively for a bike rack as i dont think my car could tow much more.

I received the package on Monday but only had the time to open it. I installed it this morning and it took me an hour and a half. I started with a prayer, as always, and it was very straightforward from there. I also viewed the youtube instructions a few times. That was very helpful. I backed my vehicle onto a pair of steel car ramps to get more room to maneuver. Per instructions I took the exhaust off its hangers and with the help of a 2-ton trolley jack I lifted the hitch into the proper height and loosely fastened the 4 bolts. I installed the U bolt last and tightened the 4 bolts one at a time. I have nothing but sincere appreciation for the manufacture of the product. The holes are precise and there was no fighting it to make everything fit. If only everything was made this way! I had to do it today. Tomorrow I turn 65 and I intend to stay greaseless and not crawling under a car! Thank you so much. The delivery was quick and the product is excellent. I am enclosing some pictures. I should have taken some while I was working on it.

Hitch goes on without a hitch, so to speak. It's well designed and can be installed without any modifications to the vehicle. The job took me about an hour total and I just did it on the garage floor without a lift and without jacking up the car. It's a pretty easy job if your car is in good shape. I have an older car so I had to re-tap the rusty weldnuts underneath (the tap is M10x1.25 in case you want to be prepared). The muffler didn't move out of the way as much as the video suggested. It would have been easier if I'd popped out the next forward shock mount on the pipe to let it swing down further, although that would not have been needed if I didn't have to re-tap the holes, otherwise I could have bolted it on easily with a wrench but I needed more room to fit the tap in between. Neither of those issues was the hitch's fault though. The hitch hangs beneath the chassis farther than I'd prefer, but I think the only way to avoid that is to get the factory Honda hitch, which requires a bunch of cutting and modifying of the fairings underneath, plus removal of some interior panels and such (plus that one has a lower tow rating). I didn't want that level of hassle so I compromised with this one. I think it will be a good setup.

I ordered this product after watching the experts pick video. The video pointed out that this hitch has a higher tongue weight . Since I will be using the hitch for a three place bike rack or to haul a small boat the higher tongue weight was desirable. The hitch was easy to install per the instructions and looks great. I would recommend this product to any CR-V owner who needs a class 3 hitch.

I recently purchased this drawtite hitch for my Crv and am very pleased with the whole process. I read the reviews and the package showed up with 2 holes in the box just like all the others stated. No harm to the hitch. The installation instructions were very helpfull. I used a tap to clean out the threaded holes. Also using lubricant on the rubber exhaust hangers is very important. Thanks etrailer!

This hitch is perfect for my need. I like cycling and have mounted a bike rack. It is relatively easy to install on the HONDA CRV 2010. My problem was that the predrilled holes in the Honda had rust accumulation but I was able to clean the thread and install.

  • Sway Control Recommendation for Pop-Up Camper Pulled By 2011 Honda CR-V
My usual recommendation would be a weight distribution system with a sway control component built in to it, but we'll need to go another route because Honda doesn't recommend using weight distribution with the CR-V, but I do have a solution for you. I'd use the # 7390 adjustable ball mount with sway control tab along with a Friction Sway Control like part # 83660. This would be just the ticket for a pop-up like yours. One caveat, you don't want to back the trailer with the friction...

If you do find a camper with a GVWR of 1,500 lbs or less you could tow it but would need to start with a trailer hitch and I highly recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75547 because it is a no-drill installation and the company has a strong reputation...

Since hitch install hardware is one time use it would be best to get all new hardware anyway. If you can find a different part number on the hitch let me know though and I'll see if there's a better part number to get.

  • Can a 2007 Honda CR-V Tow a 15 Foot Bass Boat Trailer
A weight distribution system is a device that is installed on a trailer and uses leverage to transfer the weight of the load across the entire towing setup. It's in addition to a trailer hitch and is optional for towing, although sometimes highly recommended. The trailer hitch receivers designed for your 2007 Honda CR-V are not rated with a weight distribution system, therefore you don't have the option of using one. But you can still tow a trailer. I recommend the Draw-Tite # 75547...

  • Replacement Hardware Size for the Draw Tite Hitch 75547
The bolt sizes that come with the part # 75547 are M10X1.25X30 CL8.8. You can order all new hardware from us with part # RHK too. You would need to select Draw Tite on the drop down menus and then enter the part number 75547.

  • Will Hitch From 2011 Honda CR-V fit 2016 Model
For your 2016 Honda CR-V, I'd recommend the # Draw-Tite Class III hitch, part # 75742. For a trailer wiring harness, if needed, use the Tow Ready # 118561. Unfortunately, the 2011 model was the last year of the 3rd generation of the CR-V models, and your 2016 model is of the 4th generation. There are enough significant differences in the rear undercarriage of the 3rd and 4th generations that your Hidden Hitch from your 2011 model won't work on your 2016, I'm sorry to say. If you click...

  • Maximum Towing Capacity for a 2011 Honda CRV
I would certainly view the owners manual on the 2011 Honda CR-V to ensure the correct towing capacity. I wouldn't recommend towing a 16 foot Casita travel trailer weighing 2100-2385 pounds if the capacity turns out to be 1500 pounds which is what it is for United States spec models. The trailer hitch class I, II and III, IV and V will not increase the towing capacity but it will also depend on the vehicle towing capacity. Whichever is lower, the hitch or vehicle capacity, is what you...

  • Hidden Hitch With 2 Inch Receiver for 2009 Honda CR-V
We have the exact part you need, though it is just under a different name. The Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 75547 is simply the Hidden Hitch 87440 with a different name; this is a Class III, 2-inch hitch that is a confirmed fit for your 2009 Honda CR-V. It is a complete bolt-on installation that does not require any drilling into your CR-V's frame; I've added a link to a video of this hitch being installed on a '09 CR-V for you to take a look at. To add a 4-way to power your trailer's lights...
