Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2008 Honda Civic

I discovered etrailer while researching a hitch for my 2008 honda civic. I was very impressed that they had videos showing installation for both the hitch and wiring for my exact car. 4 days later the hitch and wiring were all installed with no troubles. Everything installed exactly as the videos showed. I couldn't be happier. Etrailer has earned my business. I rate them A+ for support, value and quick shipping. 151468

Thank you for following up with me. I couldnt be happier one year later with our purchase. The hitch and wiring for the trailer work perfectly and I would not hesitate to purchase from you again and have already recommended your site to others. I was very impressed especially with the videos that allowed me to see how installation should go before I even ordered. This is a great feature. Thanks again for great service!!!

2007 Honda Civic

Difficult install drops rating This hitch comes bundled with the necessary parts for mounting a hitch ball, which is nice, and all the parts are high quality. Mounting under my 2007 Civic coupe was a little tougher than the instructions led me to believe. I had to lower the exhaust, but then when the hitch was mounted to the frame, the exhaust would not clear the hitch to get back into its mounting grommits, so I had to remove the hitch and work with the exhaust resting on the hitch while I bolted in place. This resulted in some difficulty. Also, the heat shield had trouble clearing the hitch when trying to put it back in place, so the rear drivers side bolt had to be left off. I installed on the street, and am sure it would be easier if one had a lift/ramp to work under. 247

2012 Honda Civic

This hitch installed easier than my last one. It took me 1.5 hours by myself, with car up on ramps. Another set of hands just to steady things would have cut 30 minutes off the install. I had to trim the heat shield after the hitch was up. Much easier than I expected. Mark with a Sharpie and cut with tin snips. The metal was so thin, I think heavy scissors would have cut it. I like the "U Bolt" attachment to the tow hook. It takes the weight off of your arms for the rest of the install. The "handle nuts" are a really great help. You can hold the handle nut while you screw the bolt up into the nut. Much easier than the "fishing wire" of my last Honda install. No drilling required on my 2012 Honda Civic EX. 221865

All bolts still tight. Hitch is doing well! The little Civic pulls it like its not even there.

This installation turned out to be harder than I anticipated. I had to totally remove the plastic pan to make the hitch bolt up to the frame, which meant I had to refasten the bumper screws to the frame so that there was stability back there. I think the hitch will work just fine, but it was not an easy job for me and my elderly companions. 146026

2012 Honda Civic

I bought the Draw Tite hitch (24763) for a 2012 Civic coupe a few weeks back and managed to get FREE 2 day shipping. That same day I ordered a Thule Apex Bike rack on a separate order (3-5 day shipping) and I was surprised to have them both two days later! The ordered parts were all correct but I was a bit confused at first because the website differentiated between 2012 Honda coupe not Si and Hybrid although it seems it works for all models ( instructions provided information to include Si and Hybrid models). It took awhile to install and was relieved to find out I did not have to drill any holes or make them larger. If you buy this product and install it yourself make sure that the U-bolt part fits all the way up otherwise your arm bolts will be misaligned with the frame. Since I thought I had ordered the incorrect product I called etrailer.com and spoke with Sam about the issue. He was able to help me out and provide more information on the product and order number. I was able to go to Draw Tite's website and get additional information to see if my model required drilling. If you happen to lose the instructions, the Draw Tite website will give you a way to print out the instructions. I also recommend watching the youtube video to make it easier otherwise you will struggle like I did. Overall the installation to about 2 hours since I had difficulty aligning the holes and trying to determine if drilling was required. From start to finish I would recommend this company for their dedication to getting your product to your door in a timely manner. If any issues arise they are great at helping resolve your issues within minutes of placing the call. I would definitely recommend this website to friends and any future customers that are researching etrailer.com for quality services. Hope this review helps you all out! 243807

This is an awesome product! I have not had any issues with the trailer hitch. The only thing that I have done is checked the bolts to ensure that they remain tight. After a year of owing it I would definitely still rate it as 4 stars and recommend it to friends.

I am reviewing the trailer hitch receiver AND the etrailer customer service. First off, the trailer hitch installation was straightforward, and the videos showed me exactly how to do it. I was able to install it myself, using my hydraulic jack at certain points to help me lift the hitch into position to bolt it in place. Please see the pics below. The customer service at etrailer is phenomenal! My order was upgraded to express shipping as a nice unexpected treat. I ordered the hitch receiver and also a bike rack. Both items arrived two business days later! However, there was a problem: the bike rack didn't have the included hardware kit (bolts, nuts, pins, etc.). Here's where I was impressed- etrailer reps immediately rush shipped me the missing hardware kit, and were absolutely pleasant on the phone and in emails. I am extremely impressed with this company, and will be ordering again. I highly recommend etrailer.com! Thanks! 24646

2015 Honda Civic

It's probably a good design for a stock exhaust, but doesn't work perfectly with an aftermarket exhaust system. With my MagnaFlow exhaust on a 2007 Honda Civic, there is only about a 1/2 of clearance above and to the left between the muffler and hitch. When I drive over rough roads, the muffler bumps into the hitch and makes a loud noise. There doesn't appear to be a way to stop the contact, but I plan to find a solution to at least dampen the noise. Other than this, the install took 1 hour by myself using ramps. Easy install, but would have been easier with a second person and probably 15 minutes quicker. 617054

Comments
Draw-tite designs the hitch to be compatible with a stock exhaust system. There are some things you can do to move the exhaust a bit further away from the hitch, take a look at the help article Ive linked for you.

Very quick shipment. The items which I ordered from etrailer on Tuesday afternoon were delivered on Thursday - a full day in advance of that estimated when I submitted the order with standard shipping. Installation to a 2011 Honda Civic sedan. Video demonstrating installation to a 2010 Honda Civic was very useful. Was able to install without removal of the plastic rivit described jn the video.. Most difficult for me was re-fastening the bolts into heat shield around the muffler after installing the hitch receiver. 757578

I recent purchased a newer model Honda Civic and needed a hitch for my bike rack. I had purchased a similar product from etrailer.com a couple of years ago for a different vehicle and was very pleased with the service and quality of the product. This purchase was no exception. I received the hitch within the time frame promised and had no issues with the installation. The etrailer.com web site had a step by step installation video that made the install a breeze. I highly recommend etrailer.com! 711073

I just got done installing the hitch and it was as easy as expected. The video and instructions sheet are spot on. Pro tip: read the instructions as well as watching the video -- especially remember to put the muffler *above* the hitch as you put it on. I had to redo a few steps because I missed this step, but even with that, I was done in just over an hour. Oh, and don't over-torque the bolts, especially the u-bolt. I also borked that step and had to replace the u-bolt. Both of these were totally my fault, I just can't read instructions. The hitch is solid and is more than what I need for my bike rack. Fully recommend etrailer as this is the second hitch I've purchased from them. 703655

This is my third receiver ordered from etrailer. As well as a few small accessories here and there. I have always been satisfied with their service. This receiver’s only use is for the installation of a hitch mount bike rack. We actually ordered two hitch receivers at around the same time. This Draw-Tite for the Honda and a Curt for the Toyota. The build quality and finish on the Curt is definitely superior. Better welds, heftier in general, no sharp edges or burrs, even better paint. The Draw-Tite is adequate and does what it is supposed to. The receiver arrived incredibly well packed, but because of how heavy these are they do get a little banged up in transit. A big, heavy, oddly shaped hunk of metal is going to damage it’s cardboard a bit on the way to your house, this is normal. Because it was so well packed, the receiver was not damaged. Installation was pretty easy and straight forward. It was necessary to shift the exhaust a bit to get the passenger side bracket in place, but this was a fairly simple matter of the proper application of leverage and force. Don’t forget to properly re-secure the exhaust. Due to the clearance under this vehicle, I used a lift to do the install. I did utilize an assistant to help hold the receiver level while installing. The Draw-Tite is a good and well enough made receiver that is pretty easy to install. If I had never owned a Curt (an easy 5 stars for me), this would get 4 stars, in comparison though 3.5 stars. I will definitely buy receivers again in the future from etrailer. 703451

2015 Honda Civic

I have a lift so with some help from my brother I was able to install this hitch on my 2015 Honda Civic in about 20 minutes. If your Civic has the big plastic air diffuser on it you will need to remove it and put it in storage, as there did not seem to be an obvious way to use it without hacking it to pieces(you will lose some aerodynamic efficiency hauling bikes around anyway). I used the Youtube video E-Trailer has and it is a good guide. The hardest part is probably removing the rubber hanger bushing for the muffler, but if you spray a little soapy water or cleaner on there it is not that bad. I would definitely recommend getting someone to help with the install, as it would have been a little harder to do solo, but not impossible. I am using the Swagman G10 bike rack with my hitch and it is working great. The G10 can be folded up and the tire cradles do not hit the bumper on my Civic. 653488

2006 Honda Civic

Installed on a 2006 four-door Honda Civic. Installation was very easy - it took less than 1 hour from start to finish. If you have a couple wrenches, a set of jack stands and a floor jack you can do this project. In my application, I did not have to snip any of the muffler shielding (a big plus but your situation could be different depending on your model year). The only thing I did have to do were some adjustments to the muffler hangers as the muffler initially was clunking against the hitch. The adjustments I had to make were very minor - I just slightly bent the hangers a few millimeters away from the hitch and was good to go. The hitch is very solid. I use it with a Saris Bike rack to carry two 40+ lb bikes. Considering getting a cargo platform for it, as well. This was a game changer for me as I had always used a Yakima roof rack prior to this. I love getting better gas mileage and not having to hoist bikes onto the roof. 639129
