Good clearance even with my large aftermarket exhaust. I am happy to report this works seamlessly with my nameless exhaust. I was worried that the bigger pipes and different design of my exhaust wouldn't clear the hitch, but this hitch design seems to give as much space for exhausts as possible.

It took me and my friend a good 3 hours to do this, mostly because I had two polyurethane exhaust hangers that are a pain to get off, and we incrementally cut some fascia off and tried test fitting the hitch about 5 times. We had to cut a good bit more than the instructions say, and we were a little hesitant to cut too much. After we cut enough fascia away though, the hitch went in pretty easily.

1 year later, hitch is still working perfectly. It got plenty of use with the Kuat NV bike rack with ebike on it over the summer. Really satisfied with the purchase.

2013 Subaru Impreza

The installation took slightly longer than expected in my 2013 Impreza STI. I made the right decision to completely remove the muffler and 4 pipe exhaust, which is easily detached from the rest of the exhaust system.

I also ended up having to trim the bumper 1-5/8" x 4-1/2" instead of the recommended 4". Maybe the 2013 bumper is slightly lower.

In all, the installation was relatively easy to do.

I can now haul my mountain bike easily.

Great write up and nice install. Glad to see the hitch installs with the SPT exhaust. Ill be installing a hitch on my 13 hatch this weekend MTB rack also. What did you use to make the cuts? Thx

If you are patient and careful, a utility knife with a fresh, sharp blade can do the trick. We use a Dremel here in our shop with a cutting bit and then go back with a utility knife or a file to clean up the edges.

After a year of use the hitch is still performing as expected. I haul my bike almost weekly around town and in the highways with no issue.

2008 Subaru Impreza

2008 wrx with sti exhuast. Hitch mounted up perfectly according to the directions. No issues at all. I trimmed a little to much of the facia but I think it’s ok.

by:

The installation could have been much faster if there were 4 fish wires instead of only 2. I managed to bump both of the forward fasteners into the frame and had to suck them out with magnets, pocket screwdrivers, and going to a U haul to buy another fish wire (the guy was nice enough to give me one). The fit so far seems good (took it for a spin around the block unloaded).

2014 Subaru WRX

2014 Subaru WRX. It was a little more timely than I thought, but I am sure it is because of my inexperience. Everything worked as advertised! 2 things that made it easier and wasn't too hard: 1. Remove rear bumper, 2. remove muffler hangers. There are youtube vids for both of these.

by:

Good quality and fitment. Everything is hidden except the receiver, and Worked with my aftermarket 3" exhaust which was what I was looking for.

by:
2014 Subaru Impreza

Fast delivery, exactly what I needed for my Subaru Impreza.

by:

Great product, quick and easy install.

by:

Solid hitch. Had u-haul put it on my 2013 sti hatchback. Use it for a 1up bike rack. Would be 5 stars but hitch paint got scuffed in shipping when a part broke through the cardboard.

by:
2014 Subaru Impreza

Haven't used it more than once yet but so far works great for holding my bike. Install was pretty easy but took a little longer than expected. Removing muffler made it a lot easy to do.

Everything needed, including wiring was shipped very quickly. Installation wasn’t bad at all. Wiring was very simple.

2013 Subaru Impreza

This is my 4th hitch from Etrailer. I have yet to have one arrive in an intact box :).
As another reviewer stated, it is much easier to remove the bumper cover for this install than struggle with the cramped spaces to fish the bolts for the bumper mounting points. It also makes trimming the bumper cover much easier.

I use the hitch on a regular basis and hauled multiple 1200 lb loads with no problem. The paint is holding up.

The etrailer website described part #C11120 as compatible with 2013 Subaru hatchback but didn't specify specifically for dual-exhaust WRX or WRX-STI.

The hitch itself was affordable, durable, and came with clear installation instructions. I would recommend calling to confirm the hitch meets your exact vehicle specifications before ordering because this item was not eligible for a refund or exchange.

We show the hitch as a fit for the 5-door wagon, but not the Sedan. The hitch is compatible with the quad-tip exhaust.

Works PERFECTLY on my 2013 STI hatchback. I cut slits in the bottom of the bumper cover to create a flap that would fold up and clear receiver tube. The cut cannnot be seen unless you get on the ground looking up at it. With my 1up bike rack, the fit is as if the whole system was designed to work together. The single rack folds up with only a fraction of an inch to clear the bumper. When I install a second add-on rack, it still folds up with a fraction of an inch for hatch door to clear when opening and closing.

2013 Subaru WRX

I installed this hitch and the 5614kit for my trailer wiring on my 2013 wrx base model hatchback with the quad tip muffler. The hitch works like it should i pull my 14ft jon boat around with no problems. Installation wasnt bad but i work on cars for a living. If youre going to install solo the easiest way is to remove muffler completely and also remove rear bumper completely. I say this because two of the mounting points are to the back side of the rear bumper reinforcement beam. They mount horizontally the slightest twitch and the bolts provided will fall into the re-bar and youre not getting them back with the bumper on easily. They should provide some type of locking washer to keep the bolts from doing this. One that slides over bolt but does not easily come back off. Also with the bumper off you can keep test fitting and trimming the bumper more easily... I did not want a gaping hole in my bumper ( you cant install hitch until you make the cut out in the bumper.) after installed its fairly discreet no complaints there. As far as the wiring... If you have a 2013 wrx go ahead and take out the rear interior. There are no access holes in the trim panels for splicing the converter box wiring into your factory lights. I ran the power wire under the car through a rubber plug under the spare tire. You could just pop out the tail ligts and run all wires out of the car including the box, but if you want the majority of everything out of the elements theres really no super easy way for this paticular car, but the product itself works like a champ. Shipping was fast nothing was damaged and for a good price. Id use etrailer again.

I ordered trailer hitches for both of our Subaru vehicles. The etrailer price, service, delivery, and quality were excellent on all counts. One vehicle is a WRX with Subaru SPT quad exhaust. etrailer and only etrailer had a hitch to fit the vehicle. A portion of the aerodynamic spoiler under the bumper required cutting and all went well because of the detailed downloadable installation instructions on the etrailer website. Very detailed. Very complete. The final product looks "factory" and works as advertised. I'm a very happy customer!

by:
2014 Subaru Impreza

The hitch installed easily with just 4 bolts. Only gripe is that you have to trim the bumper fascia; however, the detailed instructions come printed in color.

I haven't been able use my accessories yet because the 1.25" to 2" adapter I got wobbles way too much for my application. The hitch itself is really solid.

by:

I've been using the receiver non-stop since I got it a year ago. It hasn't had any issues since I've been running it and has been something that has truly been set it and forget it. The only initial hang-up I had was installing it, I followed the video tutorial but in the end I found taking the plastic bumper off my car ended up making the install easier since it gave me more room for my hands to reach into tight spaces required to tighten the fasteners. After the bumper removal install went super smoothly and I have been on countless adventures with my bikes now that I can easily throw them on my car.

by:

I have a lowered 2011 WRX with afterQ AAAAA market exhaust. So I was just a little apprehensive with how the hitch was going to fit. But I have to say it went in per instructions and it took me only an hour, even with stopping to read instructions. The only thing I would do differently is cut an additional 1/2” of rear bumper skin as it makes contact with receiver. But all and all Easy job and great fit. Thank you.

by:

Hitch installed very easily and is extremely secure. The fishwire system looks complicated in the instructions, but I found it to be very intuitive and it works great! Curt really thought this one through. Total install time for an amateur working alone was 1:45, but it was not particularly difficult. No drilling or filing required.

by:
2012 Subaru Impreza

Hitch was delivered very quickly. Instructions were clear, and the hitch fit well. Rather than dropping the exhaust, I removed the muffler to gain better access. From a quick search, this sounds pretty typical. Fascia trimming wasn't excessive nor difficult (I used a soldering iron with a cutting tip). I'm very happy with the final result.
