Perfect. Instructions and online video helped immensely. Super easy and only slow part for me was drilling new holes, probably a better drill bit would help but with patience I got it. This site could score some extra revenue by selling the size drill bit you need. It's a hefty item, you will need two people to hang it, as the video mentions. Can't wait to get my trailer and get rolling 800039

Seems to be what I expected. I recommend having a friend help you position the receiver in place. The instructions illustrations were fairly poor; the image made it difficult to determine which factory hole to use. I was roasting in the driveway and rushed which led me to using the wrong factory hole and some re work ( removing those square nuts isnt easily performed). Double check the alignment of the receiver before drilling your holes. 863280

The Good: The product showed up right away and fits nicely. It seems of good quality, but time will tell for sure. The fish wire method work really well, I was worried it would be troublesome. The bad: The written instructions are not the best. I didn't realize I need a 1 1/8" hole saw and thus did not pre-order one. I highly recommend watching the video before you start, its great. 822298

This Curt trailer hitch fits our 2013 Subaru Outback perfectly. I've installed many hitches and there were no surprises installing this one. . The black finish is flawless. You can readily see the hitch when you look at the car but that's OK as it looks very robust. I peeled the stickers of the hitch (like I always do) and it looks like it came with the car from the factory. . Oh yea, it works too. I only buy cars that can be equipped with a 2" hitch... for trailers, bike racks or roof rack load extenders. This hitch helps the Outback be a big boy toy. 815413

Just exactly as the youtube installation video said it would go. My Dad and I noted that the written instructions, hardware kit, and youtube install directions were all in perfect alignment. Excellent quality product that actually went in exactly as it was described! (shocking to us). My Dad was so impressed he's thinking of buying a hitch kit for "Grandma's SUV". I purchased this hitch for our Suburu Outback to be able to tow a small camper. After making the purchase it arrived within a few days, and my son and I had installed by the end of that week. What made this easier was the video to show exactly how to install it and the wiring harness that I got with it. The only problem we had with the installation was drilling through the subframe of the car, I'm thinking sharper drill bits next time. We spent 4 days towing the camper around for a short state park vacation and I have since used it for towing u-haul trailers without any issues. A great product, and thanks to etrailer for providing such informative videos. 404728

Ask the Experts about this Curt Trailer Hitch

  • Which Curt Class III Hitch Fits 2013 Subaru Outback Wagon
Curt has a very similar hitch to the # 13206 that DOES fit your 2013 Subaru Outback Wagon with the part # 13390 but the # 13206 does not fit your vehicle so it would not be what you'd want. For a more concealed trailer hitch option we have the Curt # C13410 which only has the hitch opening hanging below the rear bumper which gives it more of a concealed look.

  • 2-Inch Trailer Hitch for 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon
The three compatible hitches offered for your 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon are 2-inch Class III types like the Curt # 13390, which is the one I recommend for its greater clearance at your bumper. This hitch installs using included hardware and its installation is shown in the linked video; written instructions and helpful hitch install articles are also linked for you. Curt's warranty requires that you use a stabilizing strap like # 18050 to help support the load on the hitch if you...

If your 2013 Subaru Outback has dual exhaust the installation process will be the same. You would just follow the same procedure on the right side as you would on the left side. We don't have a video showing installation on a dual exhaust model though. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch...

The total width of the trailer hitch is 25-3/4 inches. The length of the brackets that will attach to your Subaru's frame is 11 inches. The square receiver tube length is 6-1/2 inches. • Best 2 inch Hitch Recommendation for a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon
For your 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon I would recommend the Draw-Tite part # 75673 over the Curt Hitch part # 13390 because the Draw-Tite has higher towing capacities and because it does not require the use of a stabilizer strap like part # 18050 when used with a non-supported load like bike rack or cargo carrier.

The center of the hitch pin hole will be 2-1/2 inches back from the outermost part of the bumper to allow compatibility with any of the bike racks we carry to fit well. For use of this hitch receiver with a bike rack, you will also need stabilizer strap # 18050 in order not to void Curt's warranty.
