Opening and closing this cover is simple thanks to its sealed ball-bearing rollers that glide along the rails without sticking, binding, or needing lubrication. There are no hinges or joints to trap dust or freeze in cold weather, so it stays smooth through every season. When you need the bed open, it retracts in seconds into the built-in canister, so you don’t have to remove anything to haul bigger gear.
The locking handle sits flush and hides under a weather-guarded lid, keeping it out of sight and protected from dirt and corrosion. Once locked, the 1" thick aluminum slats resist cutting, prying, and impact, giving your cargo serious protection. You can also latch the cover anywhere along the rails—handy when you want to keep smaller items covered while carrying something long that sticks out over the tailgate.
Heavy rain, dust, and snow are kept at bay with full-length weather stripping and foam seals that close gaps along the bulkhead and side rails. The cover overlaps the top of the tailgate for added protection. Two included drain tubes route any water from the canister out through the truck bed drain holes, keeping the inside of the canister dry and preventing mildew.
Durability is the standout feature here. The 1" thick aluminum panels handle up to 500 lbs of evenly distributed weight, so snow or gear won’t cause sagging. The matte black finish is scratch resistant and won’t fade in the sun, keeping it looking sharp even after years of use.
The side rails rise just 1" above the bed, giving the cover a sleek, low-profile fit. The canister’s angled bottom saves space, leaving more room for long or bulky cargo underneath. When closed, the cover sits nearly flush with the canister, giving your truck a smooth, finished look while improving aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover in matte black. You can upgrade your old tonneau cover and not have to worry about any snapping or hook and loop connections. The RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover is the best way to cover up your truck bed. One of it's great features is, it can be locked anywhere along the rails you please. It's perfect for keeping your gear dry, covering up that fifth wheel head and you can even use it to secure your elongated cargo. The latch itself doubles as a handle. When you're ready to lock it, it sits flush within the cover and you can lock it up with the included keys.
When you've done that you can put the cover over top. The whole thing rolls up into the flush mounted box for a low profile design. It only takes up about 12 inches of space behind your cab. It's a simple clamp on installation and the rails only sit about an 1-1/4" high on top of our truck bed rails. Here on the inside they take up about 1-3/4". When used with the locking tailgate, it's furthers your security. The whole thing is UV protected and it features a limited lifetime warranty. After about a year owning this cover, I still would buy it again. If you set it up right in the first place, it will work flawlessly. The locking mechanism still works great. The rolling part still works great. Aside from a solid cover, this is the most secure cover I have ever had. It does get some drips of water inside after washing the truck but its not enough to worry about, even if you had a bed full of stuff.

So on the plus side, love how it opens all the way up. When were loading the bed for travel, I need it fully open. Downside is the amount of room the canister takes up and the water as previously mentioned. Still quite easy to use!
