Platinum Plus Warranty with Roadside Assistance

This tire-and-wheel assembly comes with a Platinum Plus warranty that includes complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change out the flat tire with your existing inflated spare tire. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to the roadside assistance, this warranty also includes other benefits and services.

Corrosion-Resistant Finish

The steel wheel goes through a 3-step finishing process that makes it both attractive and corrosion resistant. The wheel is first submerged in a zinc phosphate bath to ensure good paint adhesion. It is then e-coated with an acrylic primer base and the outboard side is finished with baked-on DuPont powder paint. The light e-coat on the inboard side of the wheel reduces friction between the wheel and your hub and eliminates the flaking that can occur with a heavily applied paint finish.

Improved Torque Retention Technology

Beveled Stud Holes Front and Back

The automotive-rated center disc is raised and the stud holes are beveled and uncoated for better clamp force retention. This technology helps the wheel stay tight against your hub without the need for constant retightening.

Standard Trailer Tire Tread

Contender Tire Tread

The standard tread on these tires has solid, continuous ribs, and it has very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. These tires are designed for use on trailers, so they don't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Contender radials have double polyester cords and double steel belts. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Awesome. My first time purchasing from this site and the largest physical objects i have ever bought online. I choose etrailer because their site had more information and more customer reviews than anyone else. The wheels are exactly as advertised and are going on my 76 Airstream Land Yacht to replace the OEM set. I will definitely be back. 331908

I am incredibly impressed with etrailer.com I decided on a Tuesday afternoon that I was ready to spring for new wheels and tires for our little 21ft Toyhauler. It's a 2008 Jayco Octane 21X. I ordered figuring on a week or 10 day wait Missouri to South Central Montana. 72 hours later my order was sitting at my house. 16 hours after that I had the old (11 yrs old) wheels and tires off and the new ones mounted. The old tires were about to give us no end of grief. I knew they were as old as our trailer, but had no clue that even with alot of tread left they were coming apart at every turn. See photo of one of the old tires, that had finally bit the dust. The new tires are going to make this 66 yr olds life much more pleasant. I will be back in another 5 years or so to replace them, no matter what kind of tread is left. People don't try to squeeze every mile you can out of your tires, just from a safety standpoint they ought to be replaced every 5 years. Now it's time to hit Montana campsites and National Parks with a fury. Thank-you etrailer.com for one of the easiest and best decisions I've ever made. 513096

This seems to be a really good product. I bought it for a spare because no one carries 15 inch tires anymore. A six bolt rim was impossible to find but I found it here 510943

The wheel / tire combo arrived a day early. The quality looks excellent. I'm excited to remove the OEM bias tires and replace with these on my new enclosed trailer. A side note. I ordered a trailer brake controller and harness last week. Once again, very quick turnaround, the best pricing I could find, and pleasant sales people, who knew their product, to deal with. Thank you ! 437279

The tire & wheel combination arrived today in excellent condition and exactly as ordered. The wheel matches the other three on my trailer perfectly. I had one wheel destroyed when the tire blew at highway speed. UPS delivered it to my garage door which made my work easier. Thanks UPS. I will definitely recommed ETRAILER to friends, and will use them again when the need arises. The website is very easy to navigate, and the order process was fast and efficient. 350477

It was so simple dealing with etrailer. I contacted them to make sure I was ordering the correct tire and rim combo for my travel trailer camper.. after looking over several options they gave me, I placed my order. The tires arrived in less than a week. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating is that I haven't put the camper on the road yet.. great product with great service!! 351319

Ask the Experts about this Taskmaster Tires and Wheels
Do you have a question about this Tires and Wheel?

  • How to Select Correct Trailer Tire Weight Load Range
  • The particular load range of trailer tire needed for any given application depends on the number of axles and tires. If a trailer were to have, for example, two 3500-lb-rated axles, then it would likely have a gross weight rating (GVWR) of about 7000-lbs. In this example it would be appropriate to use 4 tires rated for Load Range D, such as # AC225R6SM. This wheel/tire combination is rated for 2540-lbs at its specified 65-psi pressure. For your trailer that has a GVWR of 7K, these tires...

  • Trailer Tires Leaning on One Axle when Making Turns
  • Since you are noticing that the tires on just one axle of your trailer are leaning when making turns, it's possible that you are towing an out of level trailer. Check to make sure that when the trailer is connected to your tow vehicle, the trailer is sitting as level as possible. It sounds like one axle on your tandem axle trailer is supporting more weight than the other, causing it to wear and lean, as you mentioned. Also just check to make sure that you are not overloading the trailer....

  • Advantages of Wider ST225 Trailer Tire Over ST205 Trailer Tire
  • There are a few things to consider when purchasing new tires and wheels for your camper. A wider tire such as the Provider ST225 # AC225R6SM can certainly provide more traction on the road than the factory size tires on your camper, however this might only be noticed in very specific conditions such as off-roading. A wider tire may offer minimal improvement with trailer sway. The best way to fight against trailer sway is to properly load your trailer. You want to keep the tongue weight...

  • Are Your Trailer Tire and Wheel Assemblies Balanced?
  • The wheel and tire combos we sell are not balanced (out of the box) like automotive tires and wheels are balanced. When the tire is mounted to the wheel, the high (heavy) spot on the wheel is matched to the low (light) spot on the tire, which leaves the wheel and tire somewhat balanced and usable. You may have the wheel/tire professionally balanced if you wish, but having perfectly balanced tires is not as important with trailer tires as it is with a passenger vehicle. To have trailer...

  • Determining Wheel Fit And Offset For Greater Clearance On Inside Of Trailer To Sidewall
  • Wheel offset refers to the location of a wheel's rim in relation to the wheel's center. The rim can be centered on the wheel or it can be offset to either side. The position of the rim determines where the tire lines up - either closer to or farther from the vehicle or trailer on which it is mounted. Trailer wheels usually have zero offset, meaning that the rim of a trailer wheel lines up directly under the center of the wheel. This alignment puts the tire directly under the center...

You'll just want to click on the filters on the page to select 1) the correct bolt pattern (please see the linked article), 2) tire size (which will appear on your current tires' sidewalls) and 3) your Load range. • For a brake drum to fit the Timbren kit part # TASR5200S03 that you referenced you would want the part # 8-201-5UC3-EZ. Then for a matching assemblies you would need # AKEBRK-7R-SA and # AKEBRK-7L-SA for either side. The part # AC225R6SM would be a great fitting wheel and tire combo that has a 2,540-lb max load at 65 psi for each wheel/tire.

  • Travel Trailer Tires Keep Blowing Out on the Same Side
  • Tire failure can be caused by overloading the tire, exceeding the speed rating of the tire (which causes it to overheat), not having it inflated properly, and general damage like hitting curbs. Since you have just one tire on one side that keeps blowing out I think we can eliminate exceeding the speed rating although it would be a good idea to double check that as well. You will want to make sure that you are loading your trailer evenly (left to right as well as front to back) so...

On 15 inch wheel and tire assemblies the bolt patterns available are 5 on 4-1/2 inch, 5 on 5 inch, and 6 on 5-1/2 inch. There is not turning for trailer tires, so they have a stiff side wall and are balanced differently due to the way they are made. Since you will be putting 2 tires on an axle even if you had 3 axles that would only give you a max load rating of 8,580 lbs so I do not advise using a Load Range B. For a trailer weight of 10,000 lbs you most likely have a tandem axle trailer....

  • Do the Available Tire and Wheel Combos Come Pre-Mounted
  • You are correct. The Contender ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 15 Inch Silver Mod Wheel # AC225R6SM will arrive already mounted and inflated. Like you mentioned, you will just want to check the air pressure on the tire once you have it mounted to your trailer to ensure it is inflated to the recommended 65 psi. This tire and wheel combo has a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern, a maximum load of 2,540 pounds at 65 psi and a maximum speed of 81 mph. I have included a video demonstration of this...

  • Inside of Tires are Balding on Rear Axle of Tandem Axle Trailer
  • It is odd that only the rear tires are balding on the inside and it isn't just one side or the other. From what you described it sounds like your rear axle, spindles, or wheels have been damaged. This could be the result of driving too fast over a good sized pothole or overloading the rear of your trailer enough that it maxed out the weight capacity of the rear axle. If you let me know the tire size and bolt pattern of your wheel I can make a recommendation for replacements, but I would...

  • Are Radial Tires better than Bias Ply Tires for Trailer
  • Radial tires are much preferred over bias ply tires for a number of reasons. The main difference between a radial ply and a bias ply tire is how the tire is constructed. The cords inside a bias ply tire run at a 32 degree angle to the direction of travel, and the cords on a radial tire run at a 90 degree angle to the direction of travel, or across the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. A radial tire flexes more than a bias tire, giving it better ground contact, traction, stability,...

  • Benefits of Switching to Trailer Tires with Higher Load Range and Speed Ratings
  • Excellent question. There is no disadvantage to using a special trailer tire with a higher weight Load Range Rating than is required by your trailer's weight. Doing so simply means that those higher-rated tires will tend to run cooler, since they will be operated below maximum capacity, and this is always a good thing with any tire. Heat is the worst enemy of a tire and the two conditions that typically lead to excess heat build-up are overloading beyond rated weight capacity and...

  • Replacement ST225/75-15 Trailer Tires for a Horse Trailer
  • Contender ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 15" Silver Mod Wheel # AC225R6SM will work for your trailer as long as the capacity of the tire and the bolt pattern of the wheel match what the trailer requires. The tire is rated for 2,540 pounds at 65 psi and the wheel has a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern so 4 of them would have a capacity of 10,160 pounds. If you are just looking for tires and not wheels too then I recommend Provider tire # TTWTRTM2257515D which has a better tread depth and pattern...

  • Comparing a Galvanized to a Coated/Painted Trailer Wheel
  • Yes, a galvanized wheel will resist rust and corrosion better than a painted/coated wheel. This will apply to both the bead seat and face. In regards to cost, if you do not have access to a tire mounting machine or the means to use one for that matter, you will save money by purchasing the wheel and tire pre mounted as opposed to purchasing the wheel and tire separately and then having a shop mount them. Typically, a galvanized wheel will run more than a standard painted/coated wheel. However,...

  • How to Determine Load Range of ST225/75R15 Trailer Tire
  • Size ST225/75R15 tires actually come in a few different load range ratings. If you check out the sidewalls of your tire, like the Contender # AC225R6SM, the load range should be listed. Please note that you want to run the same load range, size, and type (bias or radial) of tires to get the most consistent wear on them. Attached are a few helpful articles on tires and wheels that you may be interested in as well.

  • Trailer Tires to Replace 8.75/16 Sized Tires
  • Your current tires are roughly 29-1/2 inches in diameter and 8-3/4 inches wide. One option for a replacement is a 225/75 R15 sized tire like # AC225R6SM which is about 1-1/4 inches smaller in diameter and nearly identical in width. The maximum capacity is 2,540 pounds at 65 psi. The rim has a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern so this will need to match up to your trailer as well. Another option, if you have the clearance for a larger tire is a 235/80 R16 like # AC16R8SM. This tire has a...
