Question:

I have new Thunderer Trac Grip M/T R408 265x75R16 diameter 32 inches tread 19.1/32 E rating on Alloys 6 lug 1993 K5 Blazer Silverado LT aired at 80psig. Tires maybe pushing high side of 265x75R16 normal dimensions. I need best chains off road only for ice and snow on hilly driveway. What do you recommend? Thx Fred

Hey Frederick,

For your tire size and since you're going to be off road only the best option is going to be the Pewag 7mm LT Studded Truck Chain with Cams # PWKST2228SC. These chains were designed for rough off-road applications like forestry and ice road trucking so they should be more than capable of making it up your driveway during inclement weather. The studs built into these chains will help break through thick ice and increase your grip on the snowy ground. The built-in cams make tensioning the chains for a snug fit fast and easy.

I've attached a short video below on a newer model Silverado so you can see how these chains are installed. I highly recommend practicing putting them on before you actually need them so that you have the procedure down and can quickly get through it when you actually need them.

Hey Frederick, how did those Pewag studded truck chains work out on your K5 Blazer in the snow and ice? Your experience could point others toward the right setup for tough off-road driveways.
