  • Steel Twist Link
  • Deep Snow
  • Mud
  • Assisted

  • Glacier

These standard, twist link chains are great for driving in deep snow. The cam-style side chains ensure quick adjustment and a snug fit. Their low-carbon steel construction makes them durable.

Features:

  • Provides traction for your vehicle in deep snow
    • Ladder pattern provides good traction as you drive forward
    • Twist links are ideal for deep snow, but provide some traction on ice too
  • Installs easily with integrated, heavy-duty lever
    • Side cams provide effortless tightening - twist cams to pull chain taut around tire
    • Rubber adjusters (sold separately) are recommended for a tight fit
  • Constructed of case hardened, low-carbon steel
  • Works with either front- or rear-wheel-drive vehicles

Specs:

  • Fits: 15" - 24" tires (for exact sizes, see below)
  • Quantity: 2 chains
  • 90-Day warranty

Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if chains might affect your ABS/ESP functionality, consult your owner's manual.

These chains are great for giving you extra traction in deep snow. But if you're more likely to see seriously icy conditions, you may want a chain with square or V-bar links that can really bite into the ice for more traction.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new snow chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Snow Chains

Installing tire chains is easy.

Lay chains on the ground to get all the tangles out

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Cross chain connections should have the prongs facing away from the tire

2. Drape the chain over your tires, making sure that the prongs attaching the cross chains to the side chains face away from your sidewalls. Drive forward about half a tire rotation.

Connect chains on the back and front of the tire

3. On the back of the tire, pull the chain tight and hook the ends together. Repeat this on the front of the tire, then clamp the lever to fasten extra chain links and keep them from flapping as you drive.

Use tool to tighten cams on the sidewall chains

4. Insert the included tool into the cam and twist to tighten the sidewall chain. Twist as many cams as it takes to get a tight fit.

Rubber adjusters ensure a tight fit

5. Drive forward 2-3 vehicle lengths and recheck the chains tension. Tighten any loose cams.

If needed, rubber adjusters (sold separately) can be used to get a tight fit. Make sure the hooks face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

2017 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins. These chains were easy to install and fit solidly. They do not have the cam system so you will need bungee cords. I set up 2 rubber bungees per tire and added a hook in the middle. Works perfect. They fit my 285/65/20s with room to spare. I have not used these in the field yet but I grew up using tires chains and these are no different.

by:

I haven’t needed to use them, but I did do a test fit and they seem very well made. I really like the twist lock tightened as well.

by:

Loaned them to a friend...he used them one time...heavy corrosion very soon after use (forest service road with snow and ice i.e., there was no salt whatsoever).

That is very odd, I have not heard of anyone having corrosion issues with these before. Do you have some pictures of the corrosion?

I own 3 sets, 2 for my Jeep, 1 for my truck. These are a good, well built, and not too fancy. They deliver traction on ice and won’t break the bank.

by:
Dodge Durango

Great service on my order for tire chains for my jeep, The website was easy to use to find chains that would fit the vehicle, and the selection was terrific. Etrailer sent emails on the status of my order, and managed to have the product ship before Christmas. Still waiting to use the chains - they are a gift for my son to deal with the winter at college in Durango CO.

DodgeRam Pickup

I'm giving this 3 stars because the product seems like decent quality and they arrived one day early...however, they did not fit my truck. I had to remove 2 rows of links to get them down to proper size. I went back and double checked my order before reviewing this because I have been known to do stupid things in the past. Not this time. My order shows these chains fit a Ram 1500 with my tire size...they don't. Good thing I'm handy and made them fit. Also they don't come with a cam tool (which it does not specify that they do) but a good sized screw driver will work.

by:

These chains are too long to fit the factory 275/60-20 tires on my 2020 Silverado unless you cut 8 inches of chain off. No problem if you own a set of bolt cutters. Secondly they do no safety clear the suspension on the front tires. I will be running them on the back only. Appear to be good quality.

by:

I am very impressed with the great quality of these tire chains. Shipping was very quick. I haven't had to use them yet, but when I do, I'm sure they will do the job!

by:
2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Delivery and product receipt was fantastic. Product was out to use within 12 hrs of arrival and performed admirably. I will definitely be shopping here in the future for truck, tire, and trailer needs.

by:
2014 Ram 1500

The product got here as promised and as advertised. Now if good Karma works out I will not have to use them for a few years now that I have them.

by:

Easy to order, quick shipping and the product to great.

by:

ETAILER is excellant.I place my order on January 6th and received it on January 9th.that was fast. The good part about this is that two of these was the weekend.

by:

Easy to install, sized perfect, good price, fast delivery. The only downside was the instructions-there were no spaces in the text so it was really difficult to read (they're so easy to install that it wasn't much of an issue though)

by:

Working great

by:

Chains were perfect. etrailer is the best. Will definitely purchase from them again.

by:

Since my purchased I've used it only once. They held up just fine. I'd recommend them.

by:

Haven't had to use them yet, thankfully, but they test fitted perfectly

by:

  • Availability of Tire Chains to Fit Tire Size LT295/70R18
In your tire size of LT295/70-18 we only have tire chains available and do not have any tire cables. The best priced option would be the Glacier set part # PWH2226SC which is a twist link chain. This provides a smoother ride quality since the links are smaller in profile.

  • Availability of Tire Chains that are Class S Compatible for a 2009 Nissan Titan
I checked into this with Pewag and yes, the # PWH2226SC tire chains would fit a P265/70-R18 tire, and are compatible with class S requirements. The class S clearance specs would include basically all passenger vehicles, so these chains would be appropriate as long as you do not have a commercial vehicle.

A very popular set of chains confirmed to fit the 285/65R20 you have on your 2004 Ford Excursion is the Glacier Chains part # PWH2226SC. These chains will provide excellent traction in the snow and ice. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

  • Tire Chain Recommendation For 35/12.5/15 Tires
We carry several different tire chains that will fit the tire size you said you have. Since you did not mention the type vehicle you have, you will want to consult with your dealership or your owners manual to see if there are any restrictions when using snow tire chains. Many vehicles have restrictions due to clearance, so that is something important to know. The basic rule is that snow chains always go on the driving wheels. For your tire size I recommend the Glacier Twist-Link Snow...

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for Truck Tire Size 285/60R20 and 285/65R20
The Glacier Twist Link tire chains part # PWH2226SC that you referenced fit both tire sizes you mentioned, 285/60R20 and 285/65R20. These are twist link chains so they will be a bit smoother when traveling than a square link chain. Be sure to check the owners manual of your vehicle for more info on tire chain restrictions as well.

  • Recommended Snow Tire Chains for 35x12.50-15 Tires
For on-road use, I would recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - 1 Pair # TC2536. These are a fairly low profile chain that are easy to install comparatively and require no additional tools or tighteners. If you are interested in chains for off-road as well as on-road use, you could use the Glacier Service snow tire chains # PWH2226SC. These chains feature twist-link cross chains for better traction. For your 2021 Ford Expedition MAX's 285/45R22 size tires you'll need the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2327. These chains are Class-S Compatible to fit your limited wheel well clearance but I recommend also double checking the measurements using the attached diagram below. Note: These chains have a max speed rating of 30mph and are intended for on-road use only.

  • Recommended Off-Road Rated Tire Chains for 295/70-18 Tires
I do have some off-road suitable tire chains for 295/70-18 tires but the Glacier Twist Link Snow Tire Chains part # PWH2226SC are not rated for this. The reason for this has to do with the thickness of the chains. Instead, I recommend the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains for Wide Base Tires part # TC3831 which are much beefier and rated for use both on and off-road.

  • Recommended Tire Cables and Chains for a 315/70R17 Tire
We do have a set of tire cables that fit your 315/70R17 tires. They're the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains - Ladder Pattern - Steel Rollers, part # TC3031. The steel rollers provide a very smooth ride and they have a maximum speed rating of 30 mph. I've linked to a video review of these cables for you to look at. You will need to use a different set of tire chains, as Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2326 will not be a good fit for 275/60R20 tires. Hopefully you can resell your unused chains to cover the cost of new chains. While I'm sure this is not the news you were looking for, I'll go ahead and recommend a set of chains that will be safe to use on your 2021 Ford F-150 with 275/60R20 tires. • Tire Chain Recommendation for Deep Snow with Tire Size 35-12.5-15
The two chains you mentioned are solid choices but they aren't what I would recommend as a first choice for your application. The V-bar chains part # TC3835 are ideal for icy conditions as the v-bars break up the ice whereas the twist link part # PWH2226SC are more ideal for balancing ride quality and traction since the links are lower profile and more rounded. For deep snow the style that's best is the square link as it does the best at digging in and getting traction in the deep snow....
