An example of sag on the rear suspension under a heavy load.

The resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with the trailer's suspension to keep it level, which improves driving performance for your vehicle. When hauling heavy loads, you will often see the rear of the vehicle sag, while the front end raises up. In this case, the rear axle is handling not only the weight of the cargo, but more of the vehicle's weight as well. Since less weight is on the front axle, the front tires are making significantly less contact with the road, reducing traction, which decreases the vehicle's steering and stopping performance.

Under pressure, hollow rubber springs are designed to progressively support the suspension.

The Timbren system has a custom bracket that will be bolted onto the trailer frame above the axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down to where the bottom of the spring sits one inch above the axle. The inch of clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads and standard terrain, ensuring the smooth, comfortable ride you are used to.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape provides increased resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping the trailer level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's or passenger's side of the trailer. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when hauling off-center loads.

An example of a trailers swaying without Timbren SES

Timbren Suspension systems help compensate for all of the probable causes of trailer sway from unbalanced loads to gusts of wind from passing vehicles. Installing Timbren will make your trailer track better behind your vehicle and provide a safer more comfortable towing experience.

An example hauling a heavy load with and without Timbren.

When hauling heavy loads, the resistance from Timbren's hollow rubber springs will work with the trailer's suspension to raise the trailer's ride height. This is will take additional strain off of the hitch components and help the trailer ride easier.

  • Timbren Suspension Kit to Help Stabilize 8,000 lb Trailer
Yes the Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System Heavy-Duty Trailers # TTRA5602 would help stabilize the suspension of a trailer, but since your travel trailer weighs 8,000 lbs this would be too harsh since this is for a 16,000 lb axle. Instead you'd want the part # TTRA1032 which is more appropriately rated for your trailer.

  • Suspension Enhancement Option For Gooseneck Trailer With 12,000 lb Tandem Axles
While there isn't an air ride suspension upgrade for your gooseneck with tandem 12,000 lb axles, and the SumoSprings with a 5k rating would get smooshed under such a heavy load, there is one option, from Timbren: - Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System Heavy-Duty Trailers # TTRA5602 This kit has a weight rating of 16,000 lbs, so you'd want one for each set of axles. It'll help cushion the load and provide added stability for the trailer, helping with sway and particularly with...

  • Will Timbren Kit for Trailer Suspension Work Like Air Ride
The Timbren kit part # TTRA5602 that you referenced is designed to give additional support to trailer suspension but it would not perform anything like air ride suspension. If anything it might make the ride quality a bit harsher since the suspension would be stiffer. This kit would be if you were hauling heavy and near the capacity of your trailer and wanted more support.

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Pulls to the Right After Making Right Hand Turns
It is possible that the trailer is heavier on the one side causing the suspension components to wear unevenly. I recommend inspecting the suspension and look for signs of excessive wear such as egg-shaped holes, flat springs, broken parts, and anything out of the ordinary. When replacing suspension parts you should do both sides of the trailer at the same time so that they wear more evenly. Something that will help the suspension to last longer is to install some helper springs. We have...

  • How to Reduce Bounce of 2020 KZ Durango Gold Camper
A shock kit would do the best job at reducing the bounce you are experiencing. Shocks dampen or slow the suspension's movement which will greatly reduce the bounce you are experiencing. The correct shock kit depends on the diameter of the axle your trailer has. If your axle has 3 inch diameter axles the correct kit you'd need is the part # LC281281 or if they are 2-3/8 inch diameter you'd want the part # LC281255.

  • How Much Air Pressure Should Be Run in a Ultra-Fab TrailAir Air Ride 5th Wheel King Pin

Ultra Fab has stated that usable air pressures can range from 20 to 120 psi. Therefore a specific air pressure is not recommended. Instead it is recommended to inflate the air bag to maintain a ride height. To determine the ride height Ultra Fab has indicated...
