It's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Roadmaster base plate covers. And you can see we have 'em installed here on our Jeep and they're gonna be available in two different sizes. We have an inch and a half as well as an inch and a quarter, depending on which base plate your vehicle uses. Now in flat-towing your vehicle you're gonna have your arms in place so you don't have to worry about anything getting in there but your car is still your car. So when you have this all unhooked you're gonna be left with some open holes, otherwise you're gonna be leaving your arms in place which I don't really suggest because if someone comes by and decides to take it, well, you're not gonna be able to hook up your vehicle. So when you are ready to unhook your vehicle and let your car be a car again, you can go ahead, take your arms out, and as I mentioned, you can leave this in the vehicle, but if someone takes this you're kind of out of luck of hooking up your vehicle again.
So you can just simply take your plug, put this in place, and not only is that going to give it a little bit cleaner look overall, but also it's gonna keep rocks from getting inside of here which could make it difficult to get this back into place. In fact, we had a neighbor here that was while camping they had their arms off, left this open, and they came back to a wasp nest in here. So again, just to kind of protect this from anything getting in here and building up, this is a nice easy way to do it and look good in the process. So with both of them installed, you can see it gives a flat tow setup quite a bit of the cleaner look. And that's what a lot of times your base plates are kind of unsightly.
So not only does it give it a nice cleaner look, a little bit more OEM, but overall just being able to protect those openings is gonna make every time you hook up with your tow bars a lot easier. And that was a look at the Roadmaster base plate plugs..
Found this while looking for a drop receiver extension. Didn't know it was even available, thought it would be a nice way to clean up the front of the tow car & a practical way to keep the tow plate receiver holes clean.
Great product! I wish I had it a year ago. It will make all the difference on functionality and appearance. Due to steel rubbing on steel the paint wore off and it started resting. These plugs/caps will definitely help keep it clean and protected.
etrailer always has the best. These were perfect to protect the holes in our tow bar.
These covers fit very snugly in my car's baseplate, should do a good job keeping out debris when not towing.
This was the perfect finishing touch for my Roadmaster base plate installation on my 2017 Honda Fit. Provides that extra protection in keeping debris out of the socket as we as blocks anything from getting to the front of the radiator.
We ordered the base plate covers on a Thursday and two days later they showed up. We have ordered other products before and always in stock with quick delivery. E trailer is our go to place and will buy again.

Actually they were perfect, worked as should, but unfortunately they were left behind at a campground and have never re-ordered!
Easy to install and do a great job.

These caps are perfect for our Roadmaster baseplate on our Jeep Cherokee. They stay in and keep dirt and grit out and most importantly are not difficult to get out when attaching the arms to tow the Jeep. Highly recommend for anyone with a Roadmaster baseplate.

Still working perfectly after 1.5 years.
These are a little thinner rubber than the last ones I had, but that was a different base plate, and may have been the 1-1/4" version. Wish the inner rubber that goes inside the tube was a little thicker on these, but they'll work. etrailer.com's price is probably as good as you'll find anywhere, but still feel that Roadmaster is asking/expecting a bit much for 2 rubber plugs.
These Roadmaster inserts for the towing baseplate certainly make the front of my vehicle look good! Now it is not obvious that the baseplate is installed!

Im still happy with the s! They have held up well over the year.
The Road Master base plate plugs work well and hardly show. That's part of the reason to use them, to hide the base plate. They wont rust and keep dirt out of the base plate.

These fit perfectly into the outlet on my loadmaster baseplate.

Easy to connect. Sure does beat climbing underneath a tow dolly to hook up the straps. Excellent product. Use it towing a Jeep Wrangler behind a 2019 Newmar Dutch Star with the aid of an Air Force 1 brake controller.
Great product. While it took me several hours (15) to install the tow bracket and taillight umbilical cord, once installed, everything has worked perfect. No complaints at all. Instructions were very good...one bolt hole was not exactly aligned, but that problem was solved. Have used it several times with no problems.
Besides being a bit over priced for 2 (two) rubber plugs, they do work good. They fit snug. They serve to cover/plug the two receiver holes on your tow assembly bar. They work well in keeping water out and they leave a clean appearance for the front of your tow vehicle.

Fabulous product! The rubber plugs retain their flexibility and continue to fit snugly a year later. They are a must-have if you flat tow with receivers on the front of your vehicle.
