Question:

Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms. My question is: once I remove the bars, I now have two round pipe holes in the front of the jeep. Does anyone make a filler piece when not in use?

Hey Peter!

There are a couple of options that will fit in the holes when you remove the arms from your baseplate, depending on which size you need. If the inner diameter of the opening on your baseplate is 1-1/2", you can use Roadmaster EZ Base Plate 1-1/2" Receiver Covers - Qty 2 # RM-210; if the inner diameter of the opening is 1-1/4", you can use Roadmaster EZ2 Base Plate 1-1/4" Receiver Covers - Qty 2 # RM-212. Both options come in pairs, so you'll only have to purchase one to cover both holes in you bumper and give you a clean finish on the front of your Jeep. If you reply with your Jeep's year and model, I'm happy to confirm which one you need.

We’ve always used the direct connect base plate. We had one on our Jeep and currently have them on a 2018 Ford XLT. The connection on my car I never take the bar off. I leave the bar on my car because I tow it the most. I do pull the connect poles from the truck. The holes don’t bother me because where they are located everything is black. My husband was disabled and I can attach the Sterling tow bar myself (I’m 74). I would definitely recommend etrailer for any needs. They are most informative and helpful.

I bought plugs for mine. Works great and keeps dust, dirt and small rocks from collecting inside. They look great and match the underside components that are black

The direct connect system works very well. Coupled with the tow bar, I can easily connect my F150 pickup behind my RV. As to the holes, being a retired Air Force pilot, I fashioned some custom plugs that look like missiles installed in the tubes, white with red noses... I get a lot of comments about them!
