  The replacement parts we have for the Bulldog Square Jack # BD182500 are a Replacement Gear Kit # BD500212 and a Replacement Screw and Nut Kit # BD500217. These are the two most likely aspects of the jack to be causing your problem. I have attached the only two diagrams we have related to this trailer jack.   If you have the correct pin in place for your Bulldog Square Jack # BD182500 and it's sticking out that far then you would want to push it into the slot more to secure the gear in place. Cutting it off will most likely lead to it eventually failing and your gear working itself out of place.   The nut by itself is not available as a separate part but we do have the screw and nut assembly, # BD500250. It is designed just like you have said with the 2 roll pins and is rated for 10K lift and 12K static load. We also have # BD500217. • Is the Bulldog Square Jack a Sealed Jack and What Type of Grease is Used
  The Bulldog Square Jack part # BD182500 has a removeable end cap on the top that you will remove and reinstall to service the jack, therefore it's not a sealed jack. The type of lubrication used is just a standard automotive grease per Bulldog. We cannot recommend using another type of grease to replace this.
