Inno Tire Hold II with bike

The Tire Hold II wheel-mount carrier lets you transport 1 bike on your roof rack crossbars. Upright arms with adjusters can be customized to fit a variety of wheel sizes so that you can quickly and easily load your bike every time. The wheel-mount design lets you carry a bike of almost any size or frame style, and the rack does not contact the frame so it works great for a carbon fiber bike. A sliding lever lock and an integrated cable lock secure the rack to your crossbars and your bike to the rack.

Pivoting, Upright Wheel Arms

Inno Tire Hold II upright arms

This rack has pivoting arms that hold your bike by the wheels so there is no frame contact.

Loading and securing your bike is a simple, 3-step process. First, open the retractable arms and drop the bike into the front arm using Inno's Self-Standing Auto System. This will hold the bike in place and leave you with both hands free to secure the rear wheel.

Use the lever in the base to position the arm over your rear wheel, and then lock the lever to secure both arms over your wheels. This lever also allows you to fold the rear arm down when not in use. The front arm simply folds down and secures to the rear arm with a built-in clip.

Inno Tire Hold II wheel adjusters

Removable adjusters let you customize the arms to the size of your bike wheels. This way, you only have to set the arms once to fit the wheels of your favorite bike. The next time you load that bike, you won't have to make any further adjustments.

Wheel size indicators along the arms help you find the right fit for your wheel, and pins secure the adjusters in place. For 29" wheels, remove the adjusters.

Easy, Tool-Free Installation

Inno Tire Hold II installation diagram

The Tire Hold II clamps easily to most crossbars with no tools required. Simply set the rack on your crossbars, slide the bolts into the open ends of the mounting brackets, and tighten the knobs.

Integrated Cable Lock

Inno Tire Hold II cable lock

A cable lock is included to secure your bike to the rack. The cable has a vinyl coating to prevent it from scratching your bike. To secure your bike to the rack, wrap the cable around the bicycle frame and pass the cable through the loop at the end of the cable lock. Open the locking lever and insert the end of the cable lock into a socket on the side of the lever. Close the locking lever and lock it with the included key.

Inno Tire Hold II sliding lever

The sliding lever that controls the rear wheel arm is also lockable. Simply secure the upright arm over your bike wheel, press the lever closed, and lock it with the key.

Video Transcript for Inno Tire Hold Roof Bike Rack Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Inno's Higher Hold Roof Mounted Bike Rack, part number INA389. This Inno Roof Mounted Bike Rack is a perfect solution for caring one bike safely and securely on the roof of your vehicle. It's unique because it holds the bike up by it's tires, having no frame contact and you don't have to take off any wheels. It's versatile design fits most bikes regardless of its size, suspension, or frame style. It's made out of a black aluminum with a black powder coat finish so it's going to be strong and durable, and it's also going to resist rust and corrosion. The pivoting upright arms are adjustable to accommodate a tire size from 20 inches all the way up to 29 inches, including your 650B size tires. It's pretty simple.

To unlock the adjuster, you can just push down and pull it up, re-position it to fit your tire size, push it back in and then push it up to lock it in place. The wheel cradles themselves are designed to fit a tire width from 18C up to a 2.7 inch tire. We've got a cutout groove here for the smaller size tires like a road bike. The rear one is even adjustable along the rail. The whole bike rack folds down for compact storage.

It features an integrated locking lever that slides along the rail of our bike rack. The tire hold comes up, it slides forward, we push down and then we can lock it into place. For additional security, Inno has included a cable lock so we can further secure our bike. The way this works is you'll have your lever open, you'll run your cable lock through the bike. Bring it down, insert it into the side of the locking lever, bring the tire hold up just as before, and push down and then you've got it. Another security feature is that when our rear tire hold is up and in use or in the stored position, it prevents access to our clamp lever.

As you can see with it in use, I can't pick up on it, preventing anyone from removing the bike rack from the roof rack system. It's universal hardware is going allow it to fit most roof rack systems including your round, square, arrow, elliptical and most factory roof rack systems as well. As you can see with our bike loaded up and ready to go, we've still got plenty of room for more Inno accessories. I'm going to go over some of the features and go ahead and show you how to get it installed. You need to make sure that you have a cross bar that's spread between 24 to 36 inches. We've got about 28 here today.

This is going to be the rear of our Inno Roof Mounted Bike Rack and this is the front. We've got one clamp for the front, and then two for the back. I'm just going to go ahead and begin by setting that up there. Then let's go ahead and open up our tire holds. We'll open up our front one and then the rear one. We'll open up our lever there, so do that. The we want to make sure that our levers are opened up like this on both sides of the rear here, and then we'll want to get our clamps ready back here. Just undo those and bring them around. Then we're just going to lower it down on top of our cross bar. Then we'll just swing our clamps back around underneath the cross bar and reattach it to the bolt that we originally had it at. Now, if we need to adjust our clamps down to fit underneath our cross bar we can do so. We just loosen our screws up underneath here and then we can make it fit. The idea to get it nice and secure around the cross bar and still be able to close your lever here all the way down. If you can't close your lever all the way down, you probably have it to tight so you'll need to re-loosen it and then try again. That looks just about right. Now you'll need to close the other one up just the same. Now we can do our front clamp. We've got it in front of the bar here. No big deal. We can just pick up on the front of the bike rack and then rotate it back. We'll lay it back down and then scoot it back underneath. Again, if you need to adjust your screws on the bottom so the screws will go underneath the cross bar, no big deal, you can just do so. We'll just bring it down, meet it up where it needs to be in the clamp and then we can tighten up our wing nut here and then our other screw to get a nice even fit around the bar. Get that nice and secure. No reason to over tighten. Once you've got it nice and secure, it's not going anywhere as you see there. Now we're ready to go ahead and load up our bike. The only thing we need to do is make sure that our tire holds are adjusted to fit our bike. Ours are set up pretty good here for our road bike. We'll grab our bike, we'll bring our front tire up first. We'll set it in the cradle, work it up to the adjusted point there, bring the rear tire around and we can adjust our cradle down here on the bottom. We'll make sure that that sits nice and even on our tire. Then we're going to bring up our rear tire hold. Make sure it fits nicely. You're going to want the front tire hold right in that 2:00, 70 degree position. This one right about the 10:00, 11:00 position. We'll hold that up tight there and then we'll push down our lever here. Get it nice and secure and then we've got it. Then finally we can grab our cable lock and then our bike is secured. Here in our test course, let's first go into our slalom. This is going to show us side-to-side action such as going around corners or evasive maneuvering. Then on to our alternating speed bumps. This is going to show a twisting action, such as going over potholes or uneven pavement. Then finally on to our solid speed bumps. This is going to show us up and down action, such as pulling in and out of a driveway or out of a parking lot. That's going to complete our look at the Inno Tire Hold Roof Mounted Bike Rack, part number INA389.

This rack was super easy to install. Makes loading my bike up a breeze also. I have a long gravel drive that is not so smooth and the rack always holds my bike nice and tight. Also, I've hit 90 on the freeway with bike loaded on this thing with no problems at all. Super fast shipping and a great price to boot. How could you go wrong. Get it! 522444

Simple to attach, low noise, easy on/off (hybrid). Secure enough. Remain aware of overall height with these loaded. 663874

I reserve 5 in any review I do for disruptive, mind-blowing, revolutionary, etc. This bike rack is not that. But, four stars means that this product is great ...and I am one picking SOB who does A LOT of research before buying anything. In fact, I ended up telling the owner of the local roof rack store (they sell only racks) about these racks. Anyway, they work kind of like a ski boot binding, opens like a clam shell and the bike pops into the rack and locks down tight very easily. No removing any wheels or anything else to do. I had imagined this very design before I found these racks because it's so obviously the best design. Anyway, as you can see from the picture, they hold two very heavy electric mountain bikes on top of the M3 neat as a pin! -- It's kind of the only rack to get. ....you;re welcome ;-) 616059

Like this bike rack better than all the rest. Easy load and unload without and tire removal hassle. And no shaking on car. Very secure. 493729

Holds bike steady and easy to install. I forgot to take off the bike while drove into my garage. The rack became misaligned and unable to close the front wheel. This was my fault and was not in warranty. Inno said irreplaceable, so I threw it away. But overall it's a good bike rack. 292013

Review from a similar Inno Tire Hold in Roof Bike Racks

I wanted a tilting hitch carrier because I wanted to protect the finish of my new car. This one is great. Inno makes a great product. etrailer.com is a great website with personalized service (George J sent me a personal email) and the package arrived well ahead of schedule (within 4 days of ordering). The cradle style and tilt mechanism is very easy to use. Locks bikes into place very securely and has an easy to use key lock and cable, however does not work well if your bike has a flat tire (which I guess is typical for this type of carrier). The bikes have no way to rub against each other and they are held by the tires not the frame, which I like very much. A drawback is the large footprint when in use, but does fit into my garage with bikes on (I have VW Tiguan) and does fold relatively flat when bikes are removed. The entire rack when put together is a little heavy. It requires a wrench or ratchet to install/remove anti-rattle bolt for mounting and dismounting which is a little inconvenient but not too bad. The anti-rattle bolt is definitely a good thing as it works well. One thing I wasn't prepared for was that it blocks the back-up camera when folded up, but after thinking about it, it should have been obvious. Overall a five star purchase, in my opinion. etrailer.com keep up the good work. 304163

  • Recommended Spare Tire Holder and Bike Rack For Rola Roof Basket
  • If you have the Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket # 59504, there is not a spare tire carrier that is designed to fit. There are a couple of possible options with a little ingenuity like the Spare Tire Carrier for Rhino-Rack Alloy Tray Roof Cargo Carrier # RSWH or the Spare Tire Carrier for Yakima Roof Rack Cargo Baskets # Y07076. In order for a bike rack to be compatible, you would need to add the Rola Roof Mounted Cargo Basket Extension # 59505 to give you the additional 18-3/4 inches....

  • I do have some great options for you, but since you are wanting to carry 2 E-Bikes and a Schwinn, the solution for a single bike carry is limited to the Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack # Y02443-2. This really is a great bike rack that has a 200 lbs weight capacity, but the problem is that it is a wheel mount and from my research it looked like all of your bikes have fenders which will not allow the wheel mount to work properly. • Since there are no hitch fits for your 2015 Mini Cooper S sedan hardtop I would go with a trunk mounted bike rack like the Hollywood Racks Over the Top part # HRF2 which is designed to fit vehicles with spoilers like yours and is a confirmed fit. A roof rack bike rack is a great option as well. This would probably be the better option since the bikes will be very secure on the roof and you'd still be able to get into the rear cargo area of your vehicle with the bikes installed. For that...

  • I checked with Yakima and their FrontLoader part # Y02103 that you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon factory crossbars. The advantage the Inno part # INA389 has is that it grabs the front and rear tires in the same way for a very secure connection. If it were me I would go with the Yakima as it works just as well and would be a bit less work to mount the bikes.
