Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the magnet retainer clips for the 10-inch and 12-inch oval brake magnets. It is for a quantity of four clips. Now, this part here will replace the magnet retainer clips on your oval brake magnet for the 10-inch or 12-inch electric brake assemblies. Basically, this retainer clip will hold your electric brake magnet to the magnet arm, and there's one clip is required per brake assembly.

This part here is a quantity of four clips. Now, you can see up close how the clip is designed to go right in to the middle of the magnet, push it on, and it holds that magnet to the arm. Now, we do also sell other brake replacement parts if you need the brake magnet or the magnet spring. All those are sold separately on our website. They're usually listed on this product page as related products.

I needed to replace the trailer brakes so I bought the electrical assembly from another store. After getting them home I noticed the clips to hold them place were not in the package. After going to the local auto parts shop, they didn't carry them either. So I go online with the part number and etrailer pops up with the clips. Clips are ordered and received. They are a perfect fit to finish up the redo on the brakes.

Fast shipping, ordered Sunday in the mailbox Wed and recieved a notice they were delivered. Took a chance, ordered based on two prior comments. These did NOT fit my 7" dexter brakes with round magnets. No fault of etrailer, description clearly says oval magnets. Clips are too small in size (both outer clip size and clip opening to fit on the post). There is a related question posted previously that appears to confirm clips for the 7" round magnets do not appear to be available separately, but are included with replacement magnet kits. Zero luck finding them anywhere on line or local...managed to reuse the old hardware.

Though listed for 10" and 12" brake assemblies, these fit and work great on the 7" brakes also. The 7" brakes use a real cheap retainer clip for the magnet such that they fall off and the web is full of postings about those clips getting jammed in the brake pads. These fit perfect and are locked on tight.

Worked on my seven inch brake on a 2200 pound Dexter axle on 1997 Casita 16 Spirit deluxe. Previous owner had fashioned a magnet restraint using cotter pin that had tangs facing against the drum surface.

I bought a trailer that hasn't been used in 10 yes, found brakes frozen up. After freeing them up, the little clips that hold magnet on were bad. Glad to find just them separately. They fit great. Thanks

I still haven't installed them yet, or the brake magnet that I had ordered earlier. Repacking bearings and brake check is scheduled soon; I will try and provide a review afterwards.

What Is The Difference Between Redline Retainer Clips For Magnets On Electric Brakes
The # BP19-001 retaining clips are designed to fit the Dexter 7-inch brake magnets. Our contact at Dexter said the BP19-001 will work on both the 7-inch round and the 10-inch oval magnets. The replacement magnet clip, part # BP19005 will fit 10, 12, and 12-1/4 inch brake assemblies. I have attached a couple of photos with the dimensions of the clips you can check out. What Causes a Brake Magnet To Fall Off After Removing the Hub
The brake magnet is held onto an electric braking assembly with a clip. It is not impossible for these to work themselves out over time so I would make sure that you still have the clip in place. The clip is located inside the center of the magnet (see photo). If you need to replace this and you have 10" or 12" assemblies then you can use the part # BP19-001.

For magnet clips we have a 4-pack, # BP19-001. Always good to have some spares. Magnet springs aren't available by themselves but you can get one in spring kit # AKBRKR-SP for 10 and 12 inch brake assemblies.
