I’ve been on one 600 mile trip since installing these, 1week ago. So for they are a significant improvement over the surge drum brakes.

I installed these on a boat trailer, about 4,500 lb. I was worried about having too much brake based on other reviews, so I only installed one axle. My controller is set at 3.5. Factory controller in a 2012 F350. Didn’t need the Ford/Chevy adapter, but installed it anyway.

Install took about 6-8 hours, between making brackets, mounting everything, and fitting brake lines. Installed everything in two days on the weekend.

I ended up putting about 3000 mikes on the trailer before selling it. This unit worked flawlessly the whole time. I definitely would recommend this for people looking to upgrade. For my new trailer I used a competitive brand and don’t like it quite as much. The the Titan reacts with much less brake pressure than the other brand.

Excellent product! etrailer should change the name to include Ram trucks. My 2016 Ram 2500 wasn’t recognizing the EOH brakes on our boat trailer. I’ve seen other people with Ram trucks say this adapter resolved the problem. Sure enough, the brakes work just as they should now that the adapter is in place.

The part arrived but didnt have the plug and play connector. After contacting Dexter to make sure the box was the same with/without pigtail it was installed and worked as designed. Kimberly was very helpful in getting me the credit for the correct part. Thanks Etrailer.

by:

Arrived quick, this was a replacement order for the Hydrastar controller adapter module that wasn't available until July. An Etrailer salesman recommended the Titan, which his fine, but no instructions on how to wire it in.

by:

Awesome service from ETrailer! FAST shipping and great customer service and follow up before and after the sale. Product looks well made and as advertised but have not actually tried it yet.

  • Converting Military Trailer Air Over Hydraulic Drum Brakes to Electric Over Hydraulic
You are correct, there are 4 electric over hydraulic braking systems, from 3 manufacturers, that can be used to eliminate the air over hydraulic actuator on your M200A1 trailer. These systems all require a breakaway system to meet DOT safety standards. I will detail each system for you so you can select the one that will work best for your truck and trailer setup. First, the Dexter Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator, # K71-650, would be a good choice because it will work with the OEM...

  • Electric Hydraulic Actuator or New Brake Controller for 2013 Chevy Silverado With Factory Controller
The truth of the matter is that there simply isn't an electric over hydraulic brake actuator that is going to work well with the factory brake controller in your 2013 Chevy Silverado because those controllers were designed for electric brakes only. So even with a new EOH actuator like the Titan BrakeRite I Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit # T4813102 you would still need the Titan BrakeRite SD Adapter for Ford/Chevy Integral Brake Controllers # T4845900. That would be an...

  • Minimum Voltage Required for Braking Using the Titan BrakeRite for Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes
The issue that you may be experiencing is compatibility problems between the truck and the actuator if the truck has a factory integrated brake controller. First, the minimum voltage to start braking with the BrakeRite, # T4813102, is 10.4 volts. The real issue is most likely compatibility between the actuator and integrated controller. What you can do is use the BrakeRite, # T4813102, and then use a special adapter, #T4845900, to make the factory integrated controller compatible with...

  • 2011 GMC Sierra Factory Brake Controller Not Working with Titan BrakeRite Even with Adapter
You may need to adjust the output setting on the factory brake controller on your 2011 GMC Sierra HD. I also assume that the adapter you are using is # T4845900 which is the correct model to plug in with the Titan BrakeRite I Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit # 4813102. You will need to check all of your connections. It is possible that a dirty or corroded trailer connector is preventing a good connection. Make sure that all connectors on the vehicle and trailer are clean...

  • What Aftermarket Brake Controller will Work on a 2020 Silverado 2500 and Dexter Actuator
Hey Ryan, sorry to hear about the issues you're having! The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness # TK52HR is the most reliable controller both in general and when it comes to electric-over-hydraulic actuators. You may have to take your 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500 to a GM dealer to have the system flashed in order to use this as opposed to your OEM controller, but this will work. We also have the Adapter Module for BrakeRite # DX35FR and the Dexter BrakeRite SD...

  • Troubleshooting OEM Brake Controller on a 2006 Ford F-350
If your OEM controller on your 2006 Ford F-350 is a proportional controller, like the Prodigy P2 # 90885, then it will likely only send power back through the pedal when you are actually moving. The P2 has an internal inertia sensor so that it won't send a lot of power back to the brakes if you are barely moving. If you are trying to use your OEM brake controller on your F-350 and also use a Titan BrakeRite like part # T4813100 then what you are needing is an adapter. For this specific...

If your trailer has the BrakeRite II Severe-Duty electric over hydraulic actuator, # T4835700, installed for activating the hydraulic trailer brakes and the trailer was pulled with a Ford truck with an OEM brake controller setup, that should not cause the control module to stop functioning. Without either the BrakeRite EHB Adapter, # T4846000, or # T4845900, installed correctly the actuator would most likely not work properly. The reason the BrakeRite SD adapter is needed is that the...

If you have a Titan BrakeRite Electric-Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes like part # T4813102 installed there is a way you can troubleshoot the system to make sure it is faulty before replacing it. You would perform a 3 wire test. You will need a 12 volt battery to complete the test and test it in this manner: Disconnect the plug to the tow vehicle and the breakaway battery leads. There are color coded wires coming from the Brakerite that are about 18” long. Cut three wires, the black...

  • Will The Dexter K58-036-01 Adapter Work With Hydrastar HBA-1600 EOH Actuator?
Hello Brian, thanks for reaching out. The adapters you mentioned the Dexter K58-036-01 part # T4845900 and K58-036-00 part # DX35FR will not work with the Hydrastar HBA-1600 actuator. Those are only for the Dexter Axle BrakeRite actuator. We do carry an adapter module for the Hydrastar actuator, part # HBA-CAM. This helps the actuator be compatible with EOH brakes and it works on the 1600 actuators with a serial number 506100 or higher. To be honest though, I do not have complete confidence...

  • Troubleshooting Titan BrakeRite SD Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit
Good news, I can help you troubleshoot your Titan BrakeRite SD # T4835700 on your trailer. First thing to know is that a braking system is necessary when pulling a trailer equipped with brakes. The BrakeRite SD system is a good system for Electric over Hydraulic (EOH) brakes which it sounds like your trailer has. Since you have an EOH system on your trailer you will need to have a compatible brake controller on your 2015 GMC. If your GMC has a factory integrated brake controller with...

Both the Titan BrakeRite I Plug and Play Electric-Hydraulic Actuator Kit part # T4813102 and the HydraStar Vented Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator part # HS381-8067 will work well for you assuming you have disc brakes on your trailer. The 1,500 and 1,600 lb psi rating should not really be much of a concern as neither system will be applying this pressure in full each time you hit the brakes. In regards to preference, I recommend the HydraStar as it has a longer warranty (2 years)...

  • How Does a Trailer Brake Controller Sense when a Trailer is Connected on a 2011 Chevy Silverado
Aftermarket brake controllers send a small amount of voltage along the brake output wire, if a trailer is connected, the magnets in the brake assemblies will create a power draw. This power draw tells the controller that a trailer is connected. The integrated brake controller in your 2011 Chevy Silverado could possibly work in the same manner. I do not have much experience with them to say for sure. What I do know is that integrated brakes controllers often have trouble with electric...
