Question:
I have a BRAKERITESD that was working. I took it in for new pads in brakes. When they hooked up to test would not work. I put my truck on for wiring and power is going into control module nut not out so it must be no good now. I have brake controler on my truck. The trailer was pulled with new ford would the controller burn out without having the ford/chevy actuator on the trailer.

If your trailer has the BrakeRite II Severe-Duty electric over hydraulic actuator, # T4835700, installed for activating the hydraulic trailer brakes and the trailer was pulled with a Ford truck with an OEM brake controller setup, that should not cause the control module to stop functioning.
Without either the BrakeRite EHB Adapter, # T4846000, or # T4845900, installed correctly the actuator would most likely not work properly.
The reason the BrakeRite SD adapter is needed is that the OEM brake controller will show a diagnostic trouble code and the actuator may or may not work with the Ford brake controller. With Chevrolet OEM brake controllers the actuator will not work at all without an adapter in most cases.
If you would like to let me know the exact year-make-model of your truck, the brand and model of brake controller you are using, and any testing that you have done, I can help troubleshoot with you.
The first step I would take is to make sure the hydraulic pump is functioning correctly. I would use a length of 10 gauge double bonded wire, # 10-1-1, and run power and ground directly from the battery to the pump. This will let you know if the pump is working or not. If the pump is working, the problem will be in the wiring from the unit back to the truck connection, or on the truck and brake controller itself.

Bob, I have a Titan II controller on a triple axle boat trailer, 2014. The truck is a 2017 F-350 super duty. The controller locks wheels when the breakaway switch is pulled solid. When pulling the trailer the truck brake actuator barely applies the brakes even when set @ 9. I have pulled the trailer many times from MN to FL and they have worked excellent. I just completed maintenance on all the hubs and brake components. I have the same issue as before. Verified all electrical connections on unit and truck. Also hooked the trailer up to my 2021 Ford 450 and had the same issue, (very little braking power). Could this be an issue with the circuitry of the controller? and how can one check this function? Thank you Scott
