Video Transcript for What to Know About the Air Lift Union Tee for 1/4" Air Lines

Today we're gonna be taking a look at Air Lift's Union T-piece for quarter-inch air lines. And there are two main reasons you may want this unit when installing airbags. You can use it when installing a compressor to tee off and give yourself a manual inflation valve or like we're using it here on this truck to take the left and right side airbags and bring them into one so we can fILL them up simultaneously. We've got ours installed here so our inflation valve is coming out the center of the tee and the two coming off the sides go to both our left and our right side airbags. You may prefer this setup if you just want to quickly air up your airbags simultaneously. Now, you are going to lose the ability to air the up independently from side to side. That's gonna be important if you're trying to adjust for uneven loads.

You may want them to be different on one or the other. But if you're not really using it for uneven load purposes, this is going to make airing them up and deflating them much quicker if you're constantly hooking up and removing the same trailer over and over that doesn't need left and right load leveling. On our Air Lift compressor systems, it already comes with one T-fitting to allow it to air out both bags simultaneously, but if you want to add a manual inflation valve to it, you'll need a second T-fitting here. This can be installed anywhere between your air compressor and airbags in line on any of these quarter-inch airline hoses that's gonna be run. You just simply place it in between and have the center one go out to your manual inflation valve. Now, we'll show you how you connect and disconnect airlines form this fitting. It's a click-connect fitting, so you simply just push them in.

But to release them, the end here actually slides inward, and I'm using a eight millimeter wrench to do this. You just need something that'll push in on both sides. So, it pushes that in evenly and that'll allow it to release, and the hose just simply slides out. To put it in, you simply just push it in. And I like to kind of push it in and pull out a few times to make sure it's fully seated.

And as you can see here, if I'm not pressing in on that collar there at the end, I cannot pull this out. It automatically locks itself in place. And that completes our look at Air Lift's Union T-piece for quarter-inch airlines.

Well,
There's really not much to say
about a "T" in an airline. It can be used as an entrance point for an existing airline or, it can be used as a junction for two airlines to one. I used it for the latter. I recently installed an Airlifter 5000 series air bag kit and I determined there was no need to TWO air Schrader valves for the filling of each side. I ordered the T and combined the two lines into one, then only have one air fill Schrader near my rear license plate. It fills both bags at one time. I'd recommend it.

You say there’s not much to say, but you actually shared a lot with us :) What are you going to be hauling?

@GwendolynY A 2018 Honda Goldwing Airbag DCT model. That motorcycle tips the scales at 840 lbs. The bike is hauled up into the bed via a Rampage motorcycle lift/carrier. Altogether, there’s around 1,200 lbs in the back of that Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4. Hence, the need for airbags.

Worked great to allow me to use a single air fitting for both Air Lift 5000 helper springs!

This part is needed if you gang the two airlift bags together. the quality is great and never have I had a leak with it.

Gang gang, Scott!

Purchased the Air Lift Union Tee to replace a plastic tee that came with the airbag kit. the metal tee is superior in all aspect's quality and craftsmanship.
I don't worry about the part breaking because of heat or road debris.
Satisfied customer.

I installed this system on a buddy’s truck about a year ago for towing his travel trailer and he loved it. So when I got my 2023 F150 I knew that I would eventually want a set. That time came as soon as I put my 1500lb golf cart in the back!
System was super easy to install. However I suggest removing the rear wheels. Made the job so much easier. I went with a T for the air lines so that I could utilize easy, balance bag fill and empty. There’s already a hole in the license pocket of the rear bumper in a great location so all I had to do is drill through the plastic cover. Pictures are with 70 psi in the bags.

The air lift union tee is working good now for 4 days since being installed on my 2012 Honda Odyssey! No complaints here!

@Vincent Perfect! You want to leave at least 5 psi in the bags at all times....

I ordered a kit of suspension airbags for my F150 and had a service that I use a lot install the kit. Only took about an hour to install. It does ride smother than the original. Going over rough terrain is a lot smoother. Just check air pressure occasionally.

by:

The exact part we needed when installing our airbags in the rear of the truck.

by:

Easy to install, directions were spot on. Just installed them so can't give the product a fair review. I installed ot with a t so both airbags have the same air pressure, I'm not dealing with uneven loads so I thought this would be the better way of doing it for me. I had some extra wire harness tubing left over so I user it for my air line to give it some extra protection

by:

sorry this took so long! I had to wait to see how these handled a Load! I should NOT have ordered the Air Lift Union Tee! Didn't think that one through! Better to have EACH side supported separately. (my opinion) By omitting the "T",I Also eliminated 3 air connections.

by:

Well priced & well made. They met my needs while installing suspension air bags in my Ford F150.

by:

This was a quality fitting and made it easy to have both air bags aired up together!

by:

Works as advertised. Been in service on my truck for a year without any leaks or issues.

No problems after one year. My truck is used daily on rough terrain without issue

by:

I purchased this T to assist me with the ease of install on my airlift spring bags so I could install 1 schrader to fill both bags at once. Made it easy and was a perfect fit with the air lines, no leaks!

by:

I just purchased these for my 2023 Ram 1500 4x4 ecodiesel to help pull a 8,000+lb Camper.

WOW, what a difference. LOTS less sway and a great ride only adding 40lbs of air.

These are fantastic, and etrailer customer service is also great!!

Highly recommend.

Install went as expected. Having a good (proper size) torque wrench is important, alone with a hydraulic jack to lift the body of the truck. Would highly recommend.

by:

These things are great, much better and quicker than compression fittings.

by:

My order arrived and was missing parts but I was able call an actually speak to a person. Thanks Lauren for fixing my order and sending out the missing parts right away. Appreciate the customer service!

by:

Works great it I had a bit of a struggle getting it to work on the provided air line.

by:

Air bags went on with no complications. Video was helpful as well.

by:

I have had rear suspension airbags on the last 5 trucks I have owned. There is no better system to control weight roll of a load in the bed or sway control pulling trailers.Be sure to order the air line "T" which does not come with the kit so that "T" can be connected to use only 1 air fill location to balance your load.
No more need for sway control bars to struggle when pulling your camper with this set up.

by:

I use air bags under my rear axel to level my truck after hooking up my truck. This fitting connects the two sides so both are always inflated with the same pressure It's extremely easy to set up, and it just work, no fuss and no leaks

by:

Fit was perfect, easy to use and has not leaked

  • Recommended Shock Absorption for Keystone Montana 5th Wheel with Tandem Axles
Trailer suspension uses different components for the air systems than the frame mounted suspension you are looking at. For your tandem axle Keystone Montana, I recommend the Lippert Components Trailair by Center Point Air-Ride Suspension Upgrade - Tandem Axle # LC1565391 which will give you adjustable air pressure in the form of an equalizer for your leaf springs. If you want a trailer with air suspension, this is the way to go with adjustable air springs that can use manual valves or...

  • How To Remove the Air Line From the Air Lift Union T-Piece Part # AL21838
Keeping the airbags at the 5 psi minimum while not in use will allow the bags to retain their shape properly and not end up folded over or in any other position that might cause a portion of the bag to wear out prematurely. I am curious as to how you are measuring the amount of air in the airbags. I would also like to see a photo of the airbags installed and inflated to 5 psi while on your truck. If you can provide me with this information I may be able to provide further advice.

  • Is Extra Tubing Needed To Run Air Lift Air Springs To A Tee On A 2020 Ram 2500
Hey John, If you're wanting to run both air lines from the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs with Internal Jounce Bumpers # AL88289 you most likely can get away with cutting a short length from one of the lines to run from the tee # AL21838 to the now single Shrader valve, but it really depends on where you mount the valve and how much you have to route the lines through. The air lines included in the kit are 16' in length so you realistically should have more than...

  • Will Air Pressure Transfer Between Air Bags With Union Tee Installed
Installing the Union Tee # AL21838 with your # AL57575 will tie the pressure of the two air bags together. So yes, a shift in a very heavy load like a truck camper will potentially result in air being forced from one into the other. The reason I say potentially is because it depends on the pressure you are keeping in the air bags. If you have them both at the max 100 psi I would expect full support between the two. If you are keeping them at 95 psi there won't be much room for pressure...

  • Should Air Lines For Air Bags With Union Tee Be the Same Length
The air lines should be as close to the same length as possible when using the # AL21838. If your 2 hoses are off by 1" I wouldn't worry too much about it. If for some reason they're off by feet you could end up with a pressure imbalance between the two causing them the air bags to be uneven. The easiest thing to do would be replace the shorter side with the # AL20086 and cut it down with a hose cutter # AL10530 so it matches. This air line kit is approximately 16' long which should be plenty.
