Best Air Bag Kit For 2022 Ford F350 Diesel DRW With 6,000 lb Truck Camper

Question:

I have a 2022 F350 diesel FX4 DRW and haul around a truck camper that weighs about 6000 lbs almost year round. 65 percent of the time I would say I am off-road boondocking, although nothing too crazy. I currently have Timbrens on the rear axle and they just cannot handle the weight comfortably. Looking to upgrade to Air lift system for added support and better handling. What do you recommend? For the 7500XL system, does the 7500 lbs capacity mean 7500 lbs total capacity across both airbags or 7500 lbs capacity of just one airbag, meaning 15,000 lbs total across both airbags? Also, is there an airbag system for the front axle as well and if so, do you recommend it? My truck also has a truck camperinch package, which I believe is just a slightly bigger sway bar in front and back. Thanks for any help!

Hello Sivan, thanks for getting in touch. Adding air bags is definitely a good call if you are unhappy with your Timbrens. The air bags will allow you to fine-tune the suspension to the perfect mix of ride leveling and ride quality. Then you can also retain the factory ride when you aren't hauling your camper.

The 7500 kit is definitely the way to go, and for that I recommend the following:

- Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Ultimate Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle # AL86KV

This is made specifically for DRW models. The 7,500 lb capacity is the combined capacity of both air bags. I also recommend adding an onboard compressor like the Air Lift WirelessAIR # AL74000EZ which will allow you to monitor and fill the bags via the Air Lift smartphone app.

I also recommend adding a Tee to your air line # AL21838. This way you can inflate each air bag independently, just in case your truck camper makes the truck lean to one side or the other.

There is not a front axle air bag kit I can recommend, but there are ways to help beef up the front suspension if you need. We do have a Coil-Rite Air Helper Spring from Firestone part # F4160. These insert inside the front coil springs and can be inflated to add support. That or you can add a simple helper spring like the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSF-111-54.

Leave a reply below with any questions or comments and I will get back to you.
