The flush design keeps the crossbars tight to the roofline, giving your vehicle a sleek, from-the-factory style. Nothing sticks out past the feet, so the rack blends in and maintains a low profile. The aluminum construction adds strength without bulk, making it look clean and intentional rather than an afterthought.
When crossbars catch wind, they can hum or whistle—especially at highway speeds. These aero-style bars are shaped to cut through airflow, and the top channels have split rubber strips that close around your accessory mounts. Those strips help reduce wind noise and vibration while sealing the channel against the elements. It keeps the ride quieter and smoother without needing extra tweaks.
These bars open up all kinds of possibilities for travel and adventure. The top channels accept channel-mount accessories, and they also work with clamp-on mounts. That means you can attach bike racks, kayak cradles, ski carriers, or cargo boxes using whichever system you already own. You can easily swap setups depending on whether you’re hauling water gear in the summer or luggage for a long road trip.
Some racks make you trim rubber strips before mounting gear—which can be tedious if you like switching accessories often. Here, Thule uses split strips in the top channels so there’s no trimming required. Just slide your mount into place and the strip closes around it again. It’s straightforward, quick to adjust, and helps keep wind resistance low for every setup.
You can equip this rack with Thule One-Key System locks (sold separately) to deter theft of both the rack and any channel-mounted gear. With one key for everything, it’s a simple upgrade that adds peace of mind when you leave your setup parked overnight or at a trailhead before hitting the water or trail.

I agree with you that the rack should include the keys however Thule only offers the one lock system separately as part # TH450400 for a 4 pack. They do it this way so that if you have other Thule accessories like a Thule kayak or bike carrier then you can have the option of ordering enough keys to swap them all out to key them the same. For example you can also buy a six part part # TH450600 or an eight pack like part # TH450800.

Congrats on your new Benz! Sounds like a fun and exciting Christmas morning. I'm only slightly jealous of that tandem bike, I've always wanted to ride one.
