Can I Open Sunroof On 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe With Thule Roof Rack Installed?

Question:

Interested in the Thule Wingbar Edge versus Wingbar Evo for my 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe. However I am not sure if the Edge will allow enough clearance to open the sunroof, and if the Evo would allow it to open either. I am unable to locate information on the Thule site regarding the height added for either system or any pictures of successful installations. Appreciate any insight and advice. Thanks!

Hello Navid, thanks for reaching out. We do have Thule Wingbar Edge and Wingbar Evo options for the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe. As far as roof clearance, the WingBar Evo Roof Rack like part # TH62VA will be the better option.

That said, we do NOT recommend opening the sunroof with a roof rack installed. This is the case for pretty much any vehicle. Many roof rack accessories can drop down underneath the crossbar reducing your clearance. So, there is no guarantee that the sunroof will open fully without hitting something. Also, the crossbars and roof accessories can generate quite a bit of road noise, so you would not want to open the sunroof anyways.

Thanks Jesse. Would evo be a better option in terms of clearance or potential functionality? I like the aesthetic of the edge personally. In my application, I would either use the rack to attach a Vector M cargo box or ski carriers if that makes any difference. I wouldn’t need to worry about other attachments for things like bikes or kayaks.

@Nv So the Edge does have a more flush factory look to it since the crossbars do not extend past the towers. If aesthetics are important to you, the Edge is the better option. Functionality-wise there is not much of a difference aside from the available crossbar space. No matter which one you go with you will NOT be opening the sunroof though. Thule Vector # TH613201 uses clamps that go around the crossbar, so it will reduce your roof clearance. You are not going to want to open the sunroof with this installed.
