The most low profile roof rack for your 2020 BMW X3 is going to be the roof rack from Thule and it includes the following parts:

This system gives you a quiet, reliable roof rack that also has the best look because it is flush-mounted, which means the crossbars only go the width of the rails on your BMW. It attaches directly to these rails on your X3 without drilling and has a 165 lbs capacity. The crossbars and all of the components of this roof rack will sit only 4" above the height of the rails on your BMW's roof. Hopefully that 66" includes the rails.
The shortest cargo box we have that will be long enough for your skis is the Yakima GrandTour Lo Rooftop Cargo Box item # Y46FR. It measures 91" long x 37" wide x 10" tall and gives you 15 cubic feet of storage space.
