When you’re driving long stretches with gear overhead, wind noise can wear on you. The Thule WingBar Evo crossbars have an aero-style shape that helps reduce that whistling and vibration. The split rubber strips in the top channels also close around your mounts to seal off airflow, keeping things quieter and smoother on the road. It’s a simple design that makes highway drives feel more relaxed.
Whether it’s kayaks for a weekend paddle or a cargo box full of camping gear, these bars are built to handle it. With a 165-lb weight capacity, you can load them up with confidence—just be sure to follow your vehicle’s maximum roof load limit. The two aluminum crossbars measure 53" long x 3-1/8" wide x 1" tall, giving you plenty of space for watersport, snow, or cargo carriers without feeling cramped.
Installing accessories doesn’t have to turn into a cutting project. The top channels on these bars are lined with split strips that let you easily slide your mounts into place—no trimming or measuring needed. Once your gear is on, the strips close back up around the mounts to help reduce vibration and protect the channel from dirt and weather.
This setup includes everything you need for a stable roof rack system—two WingBar Evo crossbars, four Evo Clamp feet, and a custom fit kit designed for proper mounting on a naked roof. It’s built for a tight fit that stays put under load. Add Thule One-Key System locks (sold separately) if you want to secure the bars and any channel-mount accessories when you park overnight.
The aluminum build keeps weight down while providing strength that resists rust and corrosion over time. The silver finish looks clean and professional, whether you’re hauling watercraft or heading cross-country with a roof box. With Thule’s limited lifetime warranty behind it, this rack is made to stay part of your adventures for years to come.

Hi, I'm Daniel with etrailer, and today we're gonna take a look at, and I'm gonna show how to install the Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack. This will come in a black and a silver. That's gonna be on our 2022 Honda CR-V. A roof rack is a great way to add accessories on the top of your roof, so if you're running out of room inside, you can put a cargo box like we have today. You can also use a roof rack for bike racks, kayaks, skis, snowboards, really, sky's the limit. Anything that is compatible to fit on your roof rack.
You can use clamp-on accessories like our cargo box has, or your T-slot accessories, and those are really easy to use on the end here. This will flip over, and you can use your T-slot accessory, slide that in, and you won't have to cut the weather stripping. It's already integrated, it's split, so you're not having to worry about anything. So this is really nice if you have multiple accessories so you're not having to cut that weather stripping per accessory. Some people just get roof racks for the aesthetic, I personally really like how it looks on vehicles.
It looks like they're adventure-ready. Now these are gonna be set at a certain distance, so they're gonna have to live here on your CR-V, it's gonna be about 27 1/2 inches from each other. So keep that in mind if you need to move these for certain accessories. Now some people are worried about wind noise, it sounds like a wind tunnel or whistling, but that's what the weather stripping is for. So up top, it's all the way down on both sides.
There's no gaps, so no wind can get in there and make any noise. These bars are 53 inches long, and I'll get you a measurement of the overhang, 'cause they do overhang a little bit. Looks like the front is about 2 1/4, and the back's a little bit more, and that's at 3 1/2. So a little overhang is actually good for some accessories like kayaks, where you're gonna have those pretty close to the edge, so it's easier to unload and load those on. Now, I'll get you a couple clearance measurements.
So from the top of the roof to the bottom of our bars, that's gonna be about 2 1/2. So that'll help you determine, if you have certain clamp-on accessories, if those can fit. And from the bottom, to the roof, to the top of our bar is gonna be about four inches. So that measurement's gonna help you determine if you can pull in and out of garages, if maybe you have a larger cargo box up here, you just add the height of the cargo box to that four inches, and that's gonna be the total height that sticks up. And we can actually still use our sunroof, so I'll hit that. And as you can see, it doesn't lift up at all, it just slides directly back. So even if you do have those clamp-on accessories, that's not gonna interfere. This roof rack does have a max weight capacity of 165 pounds, but you always check your owner's manual and make sure your roof can handle that much weight. Now a little upgrade you can do, is you can get metal cores instead of these plastic ones. You can lock these with a coin or flathead, but if you change 'em out to metals, that's a more of a deterrent. I really like the fit kit that comes with these, it fits right to the contour of your Honda, and I personally really like the Thule, I think it is the easiest to install, and it looks the best for what you get. So if you have any questions about which one's gonna work best with your Honda, please feel free to reach out and we'd be happy to point you in the right direction. Now if you're wondering how to put these on, follow along, and in this video, I'll show you how to do it. First thing we wanna do is set up our crossbar. We already set up the front, so we'll show you how to do the rear. I'll flip this over. This has scales built in, and in your instructions, it's going to tell you what this measurement should be. And ours for the rear is gonna be 40 1/2, so we'll set that on both sides. I'll take our custom fit kit, and get this installed in our towers. There are gonna be numbers printed on those, and they're gonna be side-specific. So check your instructions, make sure you're putting this together correctly. So that will slide in in there, there's actually hooks, so if you can't pull it out, that means that is properly in there. And then these also have numbers on them, just make sure you're grabbing the right one. We'll put this rubber pad right on here. To put the towers in this groove, you wanna push on these two silver buttons. Now we can slide this in, and butt it right up against to that ruler. Now you just wanna do that to your other side, and now we can put the end caps in place. Now we can lift our bar up on our roof, and the thicker part of the bar, that's gonna be facing forward, and get it roughly where we want it, and how we got that front measurement, it's gonna be from the top of our windshield to the end of our tower, and it should be 11 3/8. From the front of our front bar to the front of our rear bar, it's gonna be 27 1/2. I'll scoot this over, and I'll do this on both sides, just so we make sure this is nice and square. You can take the included tool that comes in your kit, and get everything tightened up. And when you're tightening this, just make sure that that rubber pad is nice and flush. And I am gonna tighten this just so it's snug, and then I'll do the same thing on the other side, and go back and forth until these are torqued down. And to torque these down, it is gonna be to three newton-meters, it's stamped right there, but the tool will actually click when you're there. (tool clicking) I like that, and once you've done that, we can pop the cover back on. And we can lock these on with a flathead, or if you have a coin, you can do that. And yeah, that won't come off. With that done, you can start putting accessories on your Thule roof rack on your 2022 Honda CR-V.
Ratings & Reviews
An excellent product, like all of Thule's components. I would caution customers to be sure that these bars will work with the attachments you plan to use. Some require adapter kits, which might not be needed on a different style of bar. Etrailer's customer service is very helpful & has very responsive experts to answer all questions.
The feet are very sturdy and nice to put a strap around. The instructions didn't match the picture of what I was buying because they had a 28in gap between the front and the back feet but I actually needed more like 4 ft. so you can see I used something more like what the picture of a Leaf setup was on the etrailer website. The instructions were a little bit unclear about how the ridge on the bottom of the feet are to sit in the channels on top of the car but on the back rail I had to set the feet way outside the channels anyway. Still seems to be pretty solid
Great product. Will was awesome. Knowledgeable and helpful. Ultra fast shipping. He under promised by saying it could be middle of this coming week to arrive but it got here in one day!
One of the Evo Clamps is missing the plastic plate where the rubber spacer attaches. Please send a new plate or new clamp so I can finish my install. See attached photos to see the difference.
Easy install, no issues with this roof rack in almost 1 year of using it
I've had the roof rack for a year now and we only use it sporadically in the winter to put the ski box ontop of the car but it works great. Very easy to install and remove and very sturdy. Previously I had the kind that bolted into the roof of my SUV and had a terrible experience with that (we lost the rack and kayaks on the freeway and it tore holes in my roof). The clamp style is the only kind we'll get from now on because they are much sturdier and no risk of losing them. Definitely recommend them.
Car: 4 door Civic sedan
Bought this as a set along with a set of locks. They did not have the locks in stock, so when I went ahead of canceled that portion of the order, they were able to process and ship it out the next day. It took roughly 1 week for it to arrive.
Following the instructions they provide you with was fairly simple, there was a QR code scan for a video that you can watch as well. I assembled this along with ski carriers that I had as well. I did struggle a little bit with the spacing I needed to fit my snowboard, but it wasn't too much of a hassle.
After assembling it, I was impressed with how it looked and also how stable and tight it was when I was trying to shake it around. As for the test drive, I was very impressed with how there was no wind whistle and they did not fall off (peaked at 70mph).
Overall, I would say it's definitely worth it to buy a good quality cross bar set. And more importantly it was worth it to purchase it from a retailer that does a good job processing and shipping your order without any issues!

I really love my roof rack I got from this site. At first, I was having a heard time trying to figure out the right fit for my 2017 Acura MDX. I did a research only and watched videos on youtube. I even purchased the same thule roof rack from [online vendor] but it wasn't the right fit. When I made my way to this site, they not just have the right recommendation, but they also have the right parts for my vehicle. If I ever needed anything for my vehicle and they have it on this site, I will have no trouble getting it from here. I am a happy customer and I just wanted to say thank you!
I think Thule products are painfully pricey......however the rack I put on my Ram 2500 is flawless and a absolute perfect fit. I added the Thule rack for the roof of the truck. I have a truck bed utility custom rack and it wasnt enough. I carry a 16' heavy canoe and a 12' kayak so the additional crossbars make for a very sturdy and dependable way to carry since we also tow a trailer. Very happy to have it.
Easy install great product

etrailer fantastic customer service!
Thanks Lori B!
Customer Service at etrailer is par none, both before the sale and after. I had an unpleasant experience elsewhere buying and installing a roof rack for my old Prius. After a few days of frustrations, I sent it back to that old online store.
This time, I contacted etrailer to see what ALL I needed to install a rack on my new 2018 Honda CRV. They sent me the part numbers and a link to purchase. Viola! After they arrived, I had difficulty with one of the parts (at 69 yo my hands are not too strong or flexible) and contacted etrailer. They sent pictures and more thorough instructions on installing the rubber strip. Another VIOLA!
I'm so very happy with my total experience at etrailer. Customer Service, truly, is not better any where else I have made online or brick-n-mortar purchases.
Superb quality. Of course, it is from Thule and they are expensive for sure. But, you really get what you pay for!
And, just consider how expensive it would be if using something more affordable (cheap generic brand) and the racks/bars take off from the roof with the box on the highway!
These will not take off, super sturdy and fits the car perfectly.
Just be sure to get the right kit.
And follow the paper instructions coming along the parts.
Can recommend these, were for Nissan Leaf 2021.
And not to forget the etrailer company, they did their part as well with flying colors. All parts arrived in time and were correct!
Superb experience with etrailer.com. From order to delivery in 2 days. All components in perfect condition and very useful video links to help assemble and mount. I am very impressed by the overall customer experience so far given by etrailer!
I've owned this roof rack for a year now, and it has served my purposes (carrying my kayak around on my truck) quite well. It was fairly easy to assemble, largely because the entire instruction guide was in pictures.
I have had to retighten the rack a couple of times since putting it on the roof, so I tie the kayak down to the front and back of the truck as well as to the roof rack. I suspect the ocean kayak puts a bit of lift on the roof rack resulting in the loosening.
Solid crossbars for my 2018 4Runner. Didn't notice any lag or noise on the freeway.
The Thule Eco clamps and roof rack performed excellently. We traveled over 12,000 miles last summer out west and it carried a inflatable canoe and other gear and was flawless. Securing straps adequately reduces wind noise significantly. There was no motion or shifting during the entire trip. Total poundage secured during our adventures was approximately 100 lbs.
etrailer.com was excellent to do business with. Their website is informative, complete and easy to navigate. Phone service to help confirm availability of my product and their general knowledge of their products was impressive. Product arrived on time and in good shape. Their order tracking system is also very good. I’m very pleased with the Thule Wingbar Evo 135 racks For my BMW X5 with flush roof rails. They are super sturdy, solidly mounted and look good on the vehicle. Mine will be mainly used for surfboards and SUP’s. The assembly and installation was a breeze. The included written instructions would have been sufficient for a seamless installation but I also watched one of many YouTube videos that demonstrated very clearly every step of assembly and installation for this specific set of racks.
Love the racks!! I highly recommend etrailer.com for your roof rack needs.
I bought the Thule Evo Roof Rack to transport my kayak on my Lexus 300H. Thule will advise you on their website that his particular rack is not right for a Lexus 300H (i.e., they don't make a roof rack for a Lexus 300H); it is really for a Camry, but etrailer told me that is worked, I trusted them and they were correct. After all, a Lexus sedan is really a fancy Camry, but Thule will not acknowledge this point. It works great. Thule makes a solid product.
Once we got it correctly installed it stayed firm. We only have occasion to use it once a year for an annual trip. Although I think it reduces gas mileage, it's too much trouble to take down and put back up. It works fine to hold extra baggage.
I’ve had my Thule roof rack for a year. It’s sturdy and easily handles two kayaks. Love it!
Thule rack looks great on my Kia Telluride. The pieces took a while to get to me because they were on backorder but it's not etrailer, they were on backorder everywhere. I messed up a piece of the rubber while installing and etrailer sent me another one free of charge. Would definitely recommend etrailer.
Great quality products! Easy installation with properly guided instructions. One of the best tracking information, from ordering to delivery. Would strongly recommend etrailer to anyone looking for roof or hitch bike racks.
Etrailer has the BEST customer service bar none!
I’ll let you know after I get new crossbars to put them on.

Continues to work out fine. We still only use it once a year. It was a lot of work to install properly, plus we have locks on it so we dont take it down.
