Updated 07/16/2025 | Published 08/01/2021

Question:

What parts/screws and square nuts do I need to attach the Thule Hullavator 897xt to my Thule WingBar Evo TH711400? Do I need an M6-30 and square nut?...or a different length M6?

In order to install your older Thule Hullavator TH897XT the Thule aero WingBars, you are correct that an M6 x 30 is needed, as well as the nut and a washer. The exact parts are as follows:

- Replacement Socket Head Cap Screw - M6 x 30 # TH919063054

- Replacement Square Nut # 853-7557

- Replacement M6 Washer # 951061254

I will be doing the same setup as above, a used Hullavator 897XT going onto new WingBar Evo bars and will need the same hardware as you listed above (I purchased the Hullavtor used so do not have the Aeroblade mounting parts that would have come with it). In looking at the user manual it indicates that the 897XT had come with AeroBlade mounting shims to level the bar mount assembly. Is this necessary with the new WingBars? If I do need the shims, what parts do I need to attach them? Thank you.

@Darlene Hello Darlene. The replacement shim is part # TH56JV. It would be necessary for the WingBars as well.

I need to attach a Thule Hullavator 898 to Yakima Core bars but the larger mounting bar brackets did not come with the Hullavator. What is the adapter kit needed to make the Hullavator work with these wider and slightly oval bars? Thanks; Al

@Al The Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Roof Rack and Lift Assist w/ Tie-Downs - Saddle Style - Universal Mount # TH898 should have come with the necessary hardware to fit on the Yakima CoreBar Crossbars # Y00422. The Letter "Z" part in the instructions for the # TH898 so for mounting it around the aero style bars, or corebars. The corebars are 2-3/4" wide x 1" tall, Thule crossbars like the # TH711200 are actually larger at 3-1/8" wide x 1" tall. Do you have the new style Hullavator or the older style that you are trying to make work?

@KateF I'm the second owner of these Hullavators and the previous owner didn't have the original part Z bracket. I thought I read somewhere on E-Trailer that there was an adapter kit with the necessary parts to adapt the older "pre-Z" models and I was trying to identify that kit. Also, when I place the mounting bar on my Yak Corebars, it appears that even if I had a longer bracket like the 'Z', it would need something on the top of the bar to allow the mounting bolts to line up with the top so I assume, there are at least two parts involved. It would be helpful if I knew what these parts all looked like. Thanks

@KateF : Hi again Kate. I'm aware that this Hullavator (new style) SHOULD have had all the necessary hardware but the previous owner used it on square bars and no longer has the parts necessary to work on Aero or Core bars. Again, my question... IS there an adapter kit or list of spare parts that I can purchase that will make this work on my Corebars ie: part 'Z', shims, top bar extension brackets etc.? Thanks
