The top rubber strips on the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars like the 53" # TH711400 you were looking at are a bit different in design compared to the older AeroBar models. Out of the box you'll have a strip of rubber that likely needs to be cut (simply matching its length to the crossbar's).

Once you have the needed length, you will actually pull apart the strip down the middle, separating them into two narrower strips. Then it's simply a matter of pressing them down into the crossbar channel, one at a time. Start with the very end, pressing the strip until it secures into place. Once you have the end of the strip secured, laying the rest down along the crossbar is easier.

If you're having an issue with a specific part of this process just let me know and I will be happy to help you further.

The front rubber strip keeps blowing off at high speeds on both the front and back wingbars. I’ve replaced both twice. I’m following the directions on installation. What am I doing incorrectly?

@BrianM - I am having the same issue and I’ve seen lots of comments on line suggesting the same. Frustratingly, it seems to be a design flaw! Will be tracking this post for any updates

@MattW I did find several people online with same problem. This is first I've heard of it but I am curious if yours did it immediately with the rack installed and then once it happened it kept happening or did you have a different situation play out.

@JamesonC same! I keep having to secure them down. One blew halfway off a couple weeks ago. Today it blew completely off! $50 to replace is not cool!
