How's it going neighbors Today we're taking a look at the Thule Wingbar and we're gonna see how well it fits on our 2025 Subaru Crosstrek. Now this guy is right at 50 inches and it's gonna give you a lot of flexibility to take advantage of this negative space on top of your vehicle 'cause as a Crosstrek owner, you already know that you have limited cargo space. So let's see how well it fits and what it does for us. First thing you may notice is that it's shaped like a wing, and I would say you're very observant. The reason that it's shaped like a wing is 'cause it's gonna reduce the wind noise that you experience when you're going down the road. This guy is super versatile.
You have a T track on top that's gonna allow you to slide your accessories in this channel and you can just slide it on, so you don't have to deal with any tools, or screws or anything. Super cool. Now you also, as far as having a profile on this, it's a pretty low profile, so it's gonna sit nice and low and it's kind pretty much as far as the height on this is comparable to the OEM crossbars from Subaru. Another thing that's really cool about, it's the fact that you can add the Thule same key system. So you can just have a single key if you have other Thule accessories like a roof box or a bike carrier.
Now you can kind of see that your bars are gonna sit a little bit above your shark fin antenna, but you want to keep in mind once you get loaded up, if you have a roof box or a cargo basket or something up here, you just wanna make sure you're not gonna interfere with that at all. And also, when you have something loaded up, your sunroof may be inoperable and in most cases you wouldn't wanna open it anyway because of the wind noise. It'll make it so you couldn't have a conversation or hear your music. Your weight capacity is right at 165, but you definitely wanna make sure you're paying attention to what the weight requirement is from Subaru before you get loaded down. Now, one of the things I like about having a little bit of hangover, it allows you to kind of position your roof a little bit differently if you're carrying a lot of different items.
So if you have your kayaks up there along with a roof box, you can kind of slide things over a little bit and it gives you additional tie down points. Now setup, you're gonna have everything right out the box to get it going, and only thing you're gonna need is a tape measure. So I'm gonna show you how to get this installed. Now, after you get the measurement for your setup, being that you have raised rails, you can kind of play with that spread as much as possible for whatever accessory you have. You're just gonna basically put your feet within the track.
You have a cleat right there on your foot, making sure your bolt is pointing outward and you just align it, slide it right in. Now I went ahead and measured and my spread is right at 39 inches, so I can go ahead and just split that out and then making sure that the curve is towards the front. Reach that guy right across. Now I just rested on the bar and drop it down. Now I'm gonna grab my torque wrench and torque it down. Also, I'm gonna grab my tape measure to make sure the spread that I set is right where I want it to be. I'm gonna set it up right at 39 inches. Alright, now one tip that I always offer when I install these, I don't just tighten each foot, I go back and forth just to make sure it's not pulling from one side to the other. And once you hear the click on your wrench, you know you hit the specified torque requirement and you're just gonna slide this cap on, get your end cap on, and now you're ready to roll. You can get loaded up and hit the road for your adventure. Generally a roof rack is just the easiest way to add additional cargo space to your vehicle so you can really get that headache out the way and focus on getting out there to make some memories. And when you take some photos making those memories, add it below because we just love having that interaction with you. Now again, this is Ed with etrailer.com taking a look at the Thule Wingbar 50 inch Crossbars for our 2025 Subaru Crosstrek. Have a great day.
